Pain IS pleasure man. Always love to see the hard work thrown in there. It is, quite honestly, my favorite part of mountain biking. Nothing like conquering a brutal climb.

Climbing switchbacks are what gets me pumped! Trying to turn while in a low gear and climbing. I enjoy the technical aspect of climbing and picking the best lines. I love how much mountain biking involves every part of your body. Physically and mentally.

I've seen you ask whether your viewers ride. I'm 42, just went through my second hip replacement (long story) a few weeks back. Been off the bike for 3 years due to hips. I watch these videos to keep me stoked and motivated to power through the physio and get back out there. I often watch them while on the stationary, living vicariously and pretending it is me.

You mentioned your breathing during the "pain" segment of the ride. Here's a breathing technique I enjoy, when you feel like gasping for breath, focus instead on exhaling as deeply as possible. Afterwards the lungs immediately fill with air, effortlessly. Stale air is flushed more effectively from the lungs and I feel like this helps me recover quicker when I need to take a break.

Hey Brian. Thanks for sharing this with us. No time to do my normal commenting, so I'm going to say just a couple of things. First, how nice is that cabin? I mean, seriously, a place like that to shelter out of the rain on a bike ride? That is too cool. With a wood burning stove, to boot! They must get a lot of winter riders up there. Was it secure enough to stay overnight if necessary? Also, those rocks were impressive. Not sure how I'd feel about riding those. But overall, this trail looked like good fun. You asked at one point "why do I care?" I'm sure you know the answer. We care because we love this sport. We're willing to put up with the pain to get that pleasure. The suck is worth it. I'm glad you're having fun on this. I hope one day we'll have an opportunity to meet up. Until your next video, stay upright and keep the rubber side down.
