@dadwithabike2 жыл бұрын
I'd say if you are wanting to get into sport bikes or more sporty riding you will want to check out all three classes. Sportbike, Naked Sport and Sport Touring. Tall riders on sportbikes will probably want to look at something like the Honda CBR 1000RR or Ninja XZ-14. For Naked you would want to look at something like the Yamaha MT09 or MT10 and for sport touring (which fit taller riders better IMO) there's the Tracer 900 (or 9), Ducati Multistrada or the BMW S1000XR.

@@optimisticdream1907 I'll be honest with you. Given your size, an MT10 set-up as the MT10 Touring would be the best bet. But that can be any year MT10 with bags ... there are several direct fit bags (cases) for MT10 and top boxes.
@danieldelpozzo29302 жыл бұрын
Congrats on the new bike. I'm a Scout owner looking at this class of bike. I think this type of bike in the 800 - 1000 cc range is the best combination of size & weight, power, and price. I love the looks of my Scout, and as a shorter rider I love the seat height. But your review of the features of the Tracer 900 highlight what a great value these bikes are, and how overpriced the Scout is. The latest generations of these bikes have come down in height to make them approachable for my 5'5" height, although they're still a little on the tall side. But their lighter weight makes them manageable. And the value in terms of features for the price is undeniable. The bike on my short list is the Triumph Tiger Sport 660. While it has less features and power, it is VERY fun to ride while also possessing features that overcome many of the Scout's shortcomings. Good luck with your new ride!

Congrats on the new ride. I thought about the sport tour a bit before I got my Chieftain and in some ways I wish I would have gone that route as it is lighter and faster and less heat haha. My issue is I wanted power but I am a Short guy (5' 5") so it would make it more of a challenge getting on/off and stop lights (even for just 1 foot down) then what I face now on the Chieftain Limited ;) . I am like you, I am about the bike and not the brand. If a brand has what I want at the time for a good price then Boom, that is what I am going with at the time. Who knows, Maybe in the next few years I might trade the Chieftain Limited for a Sport Tour bike (really like the Multistrada V4). I am currently starting to make videos (haven't uploaded any yet) and it will start off with the Indian Chieftain. Down the road could turn into a Multistrada V4 or BMW R 1250GS/S 1000XR or same bike as you. Depends on where life takes me I guess. Great content as always......... You made my day. I own a Victory Vision Tour and am 6' 4" with a 33 inseam. I love the Victory and will keep it, but last Sunday what started as a nice day ended up with a horribly windy afternoon. My friends on lighter bikes seemed to handle the wind better and were able to ride at 70 when I was struggling to hold 55-60. My first thought was a Tracer like you have. It would be great to have a much lighter performance rig that would be suitable for long distance tours not to mention commuting. What do you think?
@dadwithabike2 жыл бұрын
I think you are probably onto something. Big bikes seem to catch a lot of air and on windy days they have problems cutting through it. It's been windy here the past few days (20-30 mph winds and gusts) and this Tracer handles it without a problem.

I don't have a local dealer to check but the seat high is about 4 inches higher than my inseam so I doubt I'd be able to flat-foot it and even tiptoeing it seems like it'd be unlikely lol. I always want the low riders just because I need that seat height and I don't ever want to go fast just trot along and crush them miles. but congratulations on the new bike! can't wait to see the videos about it, especially how you make it yours over time!

I have a 31-32" inseam. I cannot flat-foot the bike at all and sit on my tippy-toes. I don't worry about that though because when I come to a stop that is on a grade, I just throw one foot down and lean the bike over. They are incredibly light motorcycles.

It gave me that sport bike feel and excitement all while being ridiculously comfortable. Probably true ... and I've already got mods coming for this bike and a 3000 mile trip coming up in the summer

@@dadwithabike I’ll watch them. I watch all kinds of motorcycle stuff from GSXRs to royal enfields. But I have only ever owner cruisers. My first bike was a rebel 250 and I upgraded to a shadow 1100. I now ride a scout 60. The shadow only needed a seat to make me happy. This scout seems to be a money pit

You need a high visibility jacket to complete the transformation!

It's on order! I'm kidding ... I do the sport tourer because I'm too broken to fit on a sportbike so this will give me sportbike umph with touring pleasure :-)

@@dadwithabike Always enjoy the your videos. Learned a lot from the scout videos. Sad to see the change. Wish you the best. Will still watch any new content. Anything on 2 wheels is better than 4. Amen

This is the Tracer 9? They’re doing a demo event by me this Friday.

This is the 900GT. I'm a used bike kind of guy but I do like the new Tracer 9 ... the tech on it is quite awesome

@@dadwithabike I’m a 100% used bike dude too. I’m researching what I’ll buy in 3-4 years. I recall you said the 900GT was very similar to MT09 (same engine and frame) but had more “creature comforts” for touring. That could be just what the Dr ordered.
@Dragoninja8332 жыл бұрын
Damn I was thinking about getting a Yam MT09 SP and converting it to a tourer but that seems dumb after looking at this bike. I just kind of hate the way the front of the bike looks. I wanna look cool, dad! Everyone would make fun of me and call me lame.

Hahaha ... The MT09 SP is nice for sure ... hey wait ... I'm not lame :P

Beautiful Bike man, going to miss the Indian videos. I know you bought the Dean Spead Pegs when they posted them in the group. You wouldn't be interested in selling them would you?

I would be. Hit me up in my email that is in my about me section or the description and we can talk.
