that shoulder lock works, I was messing around sparring with my buddy who wanted to test my skills. He was throwing all kinds of punches, and it was hard to find technique, but that shoulder lock was there and relatively easy to get against an untrained person.

My favorite thing about Aikido is that by principal Aikido is peaceful. Aikido is not designed to take life, but to protect life! Aikido is therefore pro-life and that is a beautiful thing to be!!😉

Your statement is correct in a dojo or competition, but in the street that mindset will get you injured or killed. Beware of your surroundings and personal space. Use the same force that is used against you and perhaps you will reach old age as I have.

Another gem Azu! I love how you emphasize body movement which is extremely important. Don’t just move your arms. Foot work and body mechanics are vital. Osu 👍🏾

I really appreciate your videos, they are very detailed and easy to understand. One situation that I encountered recently (and have before in the past) is the difference if the attacker is left handed. I don't think you've ever addressed that? If you have, can you direct me to the video(s) you've recorded?

Nice I use this in Combatives Wrestling. 1 thing though, you have to be strong to make this work, plus it is easy to counter by just circling to face the arm lock . Do not attempt this if the guy has a knife in the other hand.

These street fighting blend in the art with whatever gets the job done you have a car use it with your life on the line or truck the enemy doesn't play by the rules why would you always keep something hidden to back you up and to blind Side them in competitions it's obvious a quick low blow or a quick sweet where it is allowed although all martial arts sure allowed which would allow every art to be completed then be well

I'm a TEMPLAR (by heritage) and have adoped "the code"-- so if I see someone abusing others-- I ALSO wll definitely do something about it-- and it won't be pretty for them... and YES- like you-- I LOVE elbows, palm heel strikes- etc.. NO PUNCHING-- punching only breaks YOUR wrist if you hit wrong. BUT , yes- I'm like you-- I don't "fight" -- i PUT DOWN-- and I put down HARD.. no playing and no round and round westeran cowboy bullshit!!
@davidwayne9982 Жыл бұрын
I use to get folks all the time come and say- "That aikido shit don't work on the street, man, I'd kick your a.. "-- and I just smile and go about my business-- unless they TRY to prove their point- and then usually it is THIS technique!!! BAM they're down- and OUT- they lose the urge to fight after they get this and hit the ground hard and can't use that arm when they get UP!! I also have some single hand- open hand attacks that i use as counters-- or more accurately INTERCEPTS and those stop the guy IMMEDIATELY.. (can be fatal so be careful- don't want to go to jail for killing some FOOL that was just a bit drunk or stupid)..

I am partially blind, this method appears to be very affective but for a almost completely blind person, "No peripheral vision" would I approach this method or is there something more affective. If there is, I want to disable them so I can get away, but I find your video's very affective keep them coming! Thank you.....

I love the channel and all that you do I had a question for you. Do you think you could do a video or maybe you have done one in the past About how to stop someone dumping you on the ground. I have seen quite a few videos where people have been picked up and thrown on the ground and I wondered if there is a defense against that Thank you
@FHyde99772 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure but I’d recommend dodging before they get you to the ground.
@philbeattie69352 жыл бұрын
Yea. An anti shoot defence. Can use a side step and hit to the temple. Follow with kicks to their knees. Have to be fast though. Other possibilities. Hand in eye socket. Hand in mouth. Tear off ear. Jiu jitsu is good at guards and holds transferring to chokes or bars. There are always possibilities.

I'd love to see this against a guy that's fighting back swinging punches leg kicks or just goes for a simple double leg to mount... you need to pressure test look what happened to the aikido blackbelt and teacher rockus he tried his aikido his blackbelt skills and could do nothing against a guy that wasn't compliant and was hitting him every time he got close was getting taken down... he shut down his school started learning BJJ thai boxing and had started entering grappling tournaments and has had a few mma fights his 10yr plus of aikido and blackbelt didn't help him atol in a fight against guys that were actually fighting back... but he had the balls to admit that and shut down his school because he was teaching people techniques that he thought was helping them defend themselves when he relised he wasn't after he put his aikido to the test he now looks like a totally different guy and he would now be a problem and be able to defend himself because he's had the guts to go in and fight other trained Martial artist and see what works aikido didn't work he no longer trains it atol

I've used this in the street to "calm" a guy. Having said that a lot has to line up for it to work.
@dreadinside6542 жыл бұрын
My question. If you are a big guy and tall it's ok to this. What if you're short or a skinny person and your assailant is tall and bulky? What if the person you're trying to pull of this technique is a bodybuilder? Bodybuilder biceps are massive don't you think? What are your chances? I don't think you could slip that hand under the armpit easily. Does anyone who is short or skinny ever succeeded in doing this? If it's ok please lead me to a link of a video if available?

BE logical here-- there is NO ONE SINGLE move for that-- all situations are DIFFERENT.. and you can't say this or that technique will work!!! Maybe- maybe NOt.. depends on a LOT of variables. NOW- I' m NOT saying this won't work- because it WILL- i've used it a lot myself-- but it won't ALWAYS fit the situation. LEARN MORE.. practice- and be GOOD at what you do. Bruce Lee once said I don't fear the man that knows and has practed 10,000 kicks-- I fear the man that has practiced ONE kick 10000 times!!!! Pick a few techniques for different situatons-- and Practice the hell out of them-- faithfully and EVERY DAY from now on. The minutes you STOP practicing-- your skills begin to disappear!!
