How do you typically spend your free time?" is a question that can reveal a lot about a person's personality. Some people may enjoy spending their free time engaged in adventurous activities, while others may prefer quiet hobbies like reading or gardening. Some people may prioritize socializing with friends and family, while others may prefer to spend their time alone. By asking this question, you can gain insights into a person's values, interests, and priorities, which can help you better understand their personality.

I've been asked this question a lot over the years and while I could give a detailed accurate response on how I spend my free time, I happen to be aware that the things I do with my free time is too informative and the average employer is likely not to going to appreciate my response from social stigmas based around those activities. Honestly, I spend most of my free time alone, playing video games or reading or watching movies, and growing weed since it's legal in my state. lol I'm aware there is a stigma around these activities and for the longest time, I just didn't engage with the question and chose not to respond. I realized after a while that since I'm asked this question so often, it's better to just give answers that seem more productive. So, if I'm asked, I go mountain bike riding on trails and kayaking down the river and 3d printing tools and objects "every chance I get" and since I actually do those things but not nearly as often, it's easier to just give them an answer they will probably appreciate rather than judging me on how I actually spend most of my free time. lol It's not just employers asking the question, but If I don't know the person well enough, like my dentist asking me this question just for the sake of conversation, I'm either going to be tight lipped or give the productive response just avoid being judged by how I prefer to spend my free time. Ultimately, I don't feel like it's any of their damn business on how I spend my free time because the things I do is what I enjoy, regardless of the stigmas around it. I just have enough sense to understand the person probably isn't going to relate, and judge me based on it. If it's being asked by a potential employer, they are going to appreciate a more productive response if they are thinking about hiring you because they think it will equate to your productivity in a work environment. The truth is though, it's not really a good way to judge a persons value in the workforce, because i'm still going to be one of your most productive workers, even if I do spend most of my free time lazing about. It's my chance to relax, I shouldn't be judged on my work ethic based on it. The only time this question seems reasonable to answer correctly is while dating because lying about it is going to get you exposed rather quickly since that person may end up being around you during your free time so it's best to just be upfront about it and hope they engage in similar things or at least not mind it.

A good question for me is "It's a zombie outbreak, and you're trying to survive. You get to choose any vehicle to survive it, what would you choose and why?" ( you don’t have to know how to drive it in real life- hell, it can even be fictional) I always ask this one because it gets people to think about their answer. I've gotten answers like a tank, a shuttle that orbits the earth while they're frozen inside and wait for it to pass, and I think a helicopter. my answer is always a sea plane because its the only vehicle that can go on land, water and air.

It really depends on the situation. If the world was going to blow up in 10 minutes if I didn't kill 100 random children, then yeah the end would justfiy the means. If I killed 100 children to sacrifice to the weather gods, that would not be justified even if no extreme weather ever happened again. However if we were in a primitive society that actually believed sacrificing 100 children would ensure the eternal safety and prosperity of the nation then it would be justified in some sense But if we talk about something like the americans killing most of the native americans so they could take their land and create 1 huge country, I think the end doesn't justify the means because they could have united under 1 country without any warfare. At least in an ideal world.

Once in a job interview I got presented with this scenario followed with a question: Imagine that I'm someone living somewhere way off the grid. Out in the middle of the woods. And I have never had toast, and don't know how to make it. Tell me how you would walk someone through making toast over the phone. Ps: Yes, they seriously asked me that. I've actually encountered that question/scenario twice in my life when doing a job interview for an IT type position. 😁

Put the bread on some fire
@panspermiapancakes Жыл бұрын
They are trying to figure out your ability to describe a step by step situation in as much detail as possible. It lets them know if you are good at giving directional informative instructions or if you're going to give a low effort response or misunderstand the question based on the context of the question being framed. For example, since the hypothetical person was "living off the grid" some people may falsely assume the question is asking you to come up with an idea on how they would be able to make toast in that situation, but that isn't what you're being asked to do. lol So by saying "put bread on fire" is not only an incorrect response, but you failed to understand the task at hand. You're being asked to described how to make toast with a toaster to someone that has never used one before. You're not being asked to come up with a way for that person to make toast while living off the grid, you're being asked to explain to them how to make a toast in a modern way. This is likely due to the fact that your job will require you to give instructions to customers that ask questions to things that you yourself just assume everyone knows how to do. However, by "assuming" they already know, you may be extremely unhelpful with your response by skipping most of the details because you assume it's something everyone already knows how to do.

But I think I would have had a bit of trouble if I'd had to grow the wheat and grind it to make the flour. That would be something I haven't done yet. But I do know a tiny bit about it. I know someone who had to attend a special baking class at the American Institute Bakery for the new promotion they'd gotten at company they worked for. The class handled the more scientific aspects of bakong and troubleshooting bread dough issues. That same person explained to me before about how there is different combinations of wheat berries that are harvested from wheat crops and are used in making certain brands popular flours.

It sounds stupid but follow the money. Walmart has way more than 4000 stores let's just go with 4,000. If Walmart could get people to put their cards back and it results in even one less job per store for just a peasly $20,000 a year. My calculator says that's 80 million per year in savings.... That's just one employee and that's just Walmart and not every single store I've sure it's well north of a hundred million just for Walmart. Favorite Quote. Which ever one I'm using at the moment and can remember. Favorite Color. Black. Because black is just really, really, really, really dark blue. And there are only 5 colors in the world. Blue, Trops (white), Haze Gray, Gun Metal Gray, and Battleship Gray. So says Saint Company Commander at Navy Bootcamp. And 10 billion pushups can't be wrong. Favorite Song. I literally have over 300 favorite songs. Depending on my mood at the time, when I discover another, and when I hear one I have forgotten.

Question: How do you find a reliable financial advisor after you have won the lottery and everyone is yelling at you? Answer: Tell no one that you won. That means no one. Contact the biggest law firm in your city to represent your interests. You can afford it and you have no idea what you are doing.

A lot of this is utter nonsense and doesn't tell you anything about that person. It's housewives' psychology. Many of these people don't even think about. They're just going to answer randomly without any meaning behind it. Same as 'favorite color' and the likes.

This is actually a good one. Not an invasive question. For me it's my stand mixer I use constantly for baking, making pasta, grinding meats. Now you know I like to cook. Some people put knick knacks. What kind of knick knacks? Tells you about their interests, or maybe it's their grandmother's old trinkets, tells you the person values family. I like this question
