The rock soundtrack from The Crow is good. But not nearly as good as Graeme Ravell's score, available as a separate album. _That_ music evokes all the deep melancholy from the film, what was intended in the production as well as the sadness related to the tragic death of Brandon Lee. Maybe not the best upbeat music for working in the shop, but still an amazing soundtrack.

As someone with taste in music that is a bit out of the ordinary, I feel like music can be so much a personal thing in the modern day, especially since there is nothing to unify or define taste for large groups of people

My taste in music isn't exactly totally obscure (I like Scandinavian power metal and video game stuff from Overclocked Remix), but it's obscure _enough_ that I can't relate to anyone here at the office with it. The discomfort with sharing musical taste is so relatable. In middle school, I had a cousin I really liked that basically dismissed my whole musical taste. I liked to listen to dance-pop type stuff like cascada and he came across my iPod and looked through it without knowing who’s it was and was like, “man, this music is weird” That felt real bad and I immediately started to hide what I listen to. 20 years later and I still will tend to omit mentioning I like to listen to that stuff.

I was always a huge Phil Collins fan. As much as I liked the 90's alternative rock my peers did and still do very much, I always knew they thought Phil was dorky soccer mom pop music in a way, even the Genesis stuff. But then in college in the late nineties-early 2000's I had co-workers my age at my job tell me that Phil Collins was great and he shouldn't be a guilty pleasure at all. Also when American Idol became a thing, some of the kids would sing PC songs and the judges would hype him up as a legendary artist. Throwing It All Away by Genesis is still my jam!

I feel you about your shyness around your music tastes. I grew up listening to ONLY country and classic rock, parents were born in the 50's, I was born in the 90's. Then we moved to Florida when I was 8 and I was bullied out of my love for country, moved onto rock. Rock love evolved through tons of sub-genres. Soft, hard, metal, heavy metal, hair metal, classic metal, death metal, black metal. But I also grew to like a couple rappers. And a few years ago, I started to listen to country again, almost entirely the 90's stuff I grew up on, though. I'm still shy about admitting I like it, especially to my family cause I know how they'll react hearing I like it again. So, I feel you, man.

Oh gods, I had forgotten about the Raising Arizona soundtrack or maybe it's the score I'm thinking about. In the last (I think) scene when High imagine his and Ed's future, 8n the music that's played there is an overwhelming sense of whistfulness, and longing, and it's been with me for decades now. I just realised how much I'm still looking for that feeling in music.

I know the feeling in regards to taste of music. While I luckily never got harassed (for a change) by my peers, I was and still am pretty alone in my love for Jazz, Swing, the American Songbook and TV+movie Soundtracks. Even my evening/nighttime 80ties and 9ties nostalgia playlists find no love with my wife. Or my son. That is one of the few things my father successfully installed/ inherited to me - Jazz, Swing, partly helped through a sunday afternoon during which I watched "The Glenn Miller" story with James Steward.

Credits music / character introductory music. Adam, you've said that when you put on a really good prop, it helps you feel like you're a part of that world. That's how character introduction music makes me feel. I don't have a lot of self confidence, so listening to music that feels like its defining me, helps put me in a good mood about myself to make it through the day

Best way a show has ever used music, The Wire. It was pointed out that all the music in the scenes have a source within the scene that makes it fell real life. You reference the characters Stringer Bell & Omar and real people because of this. The music is always a character in the scene from a source so you feel those tense moments in scene are quite...like they should be in real life. Best sound design in a show ever

Singles. I grew up in Boston, and my high school years coincided with Seattle's peak on the national cultural stage. Grunge, Cameron Crowe movies, the Gary Payton/Shawn Kemp Sonics. I wanted to move there and even looked at trying to get into U-Dub coming out of high school. Ended up getting here in 2013 and still live here 11 years later, and every once in awhile the soundtrack to that movie works its way into my head. Just bangers all the way down.

Every Christmas, I'd get the latest ABBA album, which I darn near wore out, but my Dad had a DIY tape off a friend of Burt Bacharach. That tape, I wore out. Beach Boys is another one. The score for Kenneth Brannaugh’s “Dead Again” is fabulous, as is Peter Gabriel’s score for “The Last Temptation of Christ.” At the time, anyway, the score for “There Will Be Blood” felt like nothing that had ever been done before. Lesser known soundtracks that are fabulous, as are the movies they’re from: Dream with the Fishes, Jesus’ Son, and Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus.

as someone who LOVES music & cinema, i have to give props to anything involving Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross as composers. the work they did for David Fincher's "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is impeccable. their remix of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" with Karen O. of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' that plays during the opening Title sequence (which itself is a visual masterpiece) is amazing. And, since You mentioned "Is Your Love Strong Enough" by Bryan Ferry which was part of the 'Legend' OST, Trent & Atticus have/d a side project with Trent's wife on vocals called How to Destroy Angels. They covered "Is Your Love Strong Enough" which plays over the credits of 'Dragon Tattoo' is bone chillingly amazing. i mean that entire film is great, but the OST/Score alone is worth watching for! obviously the score of "Sicario" by the late Johann Johannsson is superb in capturing the ominous vibe that movie has. "Moon" by Duncan Jones, 2009 (staring Sam Rockwell) has a great film score, composed by Clint Mansell. another piece of music i would recommend is "We Three Kings" by Maria Lopez-Gallego. is plays over the credits to Apollo 18, a movie which almost nobody, including myself liked. it was pretty unmemorable in many ways. but that piece of super depressing, yet beautiful piano music over the credits is amazing. as far as straight soundtracks, where to begin! The Crow obviously! Judgment Night (1993) was great. one of my favorites is Dead Presidents (1995). amazing collection of songs!

Oh, and... Since you like the LotR soundtrack (which is awesome), you owe it to yourself to check out Geoffrey Keezer's jazz arrangement of Gollum's Song. It's amazing. Another great non-pop/rock soundtrack is the music for The Secret Garden. Unfortunately, they did not deign to include the Linda Ronstadt song that closes the movie, "Winter Light", but that is another amazing song that deserves a listen (I admit though, it has more impact in the context of the movie). :)

For music scores, Jurassic Park probably gets my vote as greatest of all time. I also love the score to Star Trek: First Contact. And of course, The Godfather probably has the most recognizable love theme of all time. But as for soundtracks, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie, as cheesy as it was, has a killer soundtrack, especially if you love classic rock. I wasn't as in to classic rock as a kid as I am now, and I remember buying a greatest hits album from Van Halen, and as soon as Dreams played, it immediately took me back to that movie because I recognized it as the song that plays over the ending credits. As for movies that use their music in a new way, I thought Guardians of the Galaxy used their soundtrack pretty creatively, tying it to the film in a way that made sense given the context.

My husband and I have been mind boggled recently about the fact that we were pre internet teens, and now have the internet and youtube to discover new things and how to do things. When something breaks, we'll google or youtube it and fix it ourselves. We grew up having to buy a Chilton book to fix a car, run to the library to find a book to fix an appliance, or build something, or just tinker with it until we fixed it. Now we have all that info right on our phone, PC, or tablet. It's wonderful! However we've been seeing on nextdoor so ,any people looking for people to fix super simple things, or perform super simple tasks. We can't understand how people don't use such a great resource to help themselves and to save money. Do you feel blessed having grown up pre internet to have learned problem solving skills the analog way and appreciate the resources available on the internet now?

"Until the End of the World" is a fantastic, if slow adventure movie. I totally endorse Adam's suggestion to first watch the shorter theatrical release. The best part of the 4 1/2 hour edit, is the soundtrack comes to the fore, where the songs are played in full to prolonged takes & a few extra situations.
