Pigs actually could eat it, so instead of just throwing it away she could make a bag a month and donate it to a local pig farm or something like that. Also the rice amd the oil can be used even tho they were open, and those carrots could be added to a soup with other vegetables. Idk, there is so much food waste in the world, we should all do our part in stoping it whoever we can

@queeni419916 күн бұрын
She doesn't give them away to those in need because most places if not all don't accept opened items because many horrible people have messed with the food. This is the same for homeless people. For livestock, it's the same problem because if something is wrong with the food, it can seriously damage the animals. She also made a video on this but I don't know how long ago. She did state that if she didn't want to eat it because of safety risks she wouldn't want to risk someone else's life.

@morganherman37116 күн бұрын
@EmmaJeanTyrrell As someone who runs a food pantry, I appreciate that you decide not to donate opened food. A rule of thumb is, if you don't want to eat it then neither will others. Assuming those experiencing food insecurity will settle for opened/old food is a big lapse in judgement and reveals some subconscious feelings about how we feel about low income populations. The saying that beggers can't be choosers is wrong - everyone deserves the dignity of receiving unopened food

I feel like some kind of compost situation could be nice for all of the food waste from guests. There are companies in major cities who give you a bin, you fill it up and then they come pick it up and give you a fresh bucket so you don’t have to worry about what you do with the compost!
@KaleyRuff-sh2gs13 күн бұрын
My only thing is, if they did do something bad to it, wouldn't that affect how it composts? Also, very few cities offer you a bin like that: Portland, Eugene, New York, Seattle, San Francisco, and many other California towns. But many different places don't want it or charge an expensive fee. If you are missing the mark for a large majority of the population like the Midwest and South(Texas is number 2 for most population followed by Florida, and then Illinois in 4th, Ohio 5th, Georgia 6th, North Carolin7th, Michigan 8th), not saying composting is terrible. Still, it must be more common and affordable before it can become something every major city has.

Please get smaller sizes of the items you provide. Or donate the remaining items, please don’t waste food items like this. Also if you get bigger size / quantities that expire soon, you can’t donate them, so smaller size is better.
