Harry Potter- means I love adventure, friendship, creativity, and magic or things that seem like magic Percy Jackson- means I'm a sassy little shit lol, I also love adventure and value friendship, and the greek gods show my love for learning about different mythology, religion, and culture and how different ideas/ideals constantly overlap and how that has shaped our world today

My favorite book is The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. I love history. I'm a history buff and I find world war 2 times to be so interesting and fascinating(which I think is why there are so many novels that take place around that time). Despite my love for history, The Book Thief so far is the only historical fiction book I've read for fun. I remember loving the dad in the story. I loved his kind-heartedness and how empathetic he seemed to be and not to toot my own horn, but I see myself as a pretty empathetic person. And it's also a book that takes about how important books are. I love books. Im sure there are other reasons but these are the ones that come to mind.

Definitely my favorite book as well. I think the first thing that comes to mind was how Death narrated the story when that time of history death was a pretty busy thing, and how he would stand by and watch until whoever's time came but was particularly fascinated by Leslie's story. And the ending where he revealed how humans surprise him by their endurance and staggering ability even when their life is literally crumbling. I found that I really needed to hear that from 'supposedly' another point of view. I'm a pretty dark and negative person, losing faith in humanity by the day and focusing on all whats wrong with the world. But this book made me open my eyes more to what we can actually accomplish when faced with difficulties, the little lights we can shine in the middle of unending darkness. His last note, "I am haunted by humans" was a huge deal for me to comprehend. I am forever thankful I read this book.

+Nora Hassanen Oh my gosh you worded that perfectly! I probably couldn't word it as well as you did, but yes I totally agree that this novel being narrated by Death is among one of the most interesting concepts(there were many interesting concepts and ideas though in my opinion of course). I feel you. I sometimes will just think of all the problems in the world and how many people are suffering and I want to be able to fix it all but I know it's not possible for just one human being to do so. But there are things that I think are beautiful about humanity. I think that the quote you mentioned is very powerful.
@norah7673
@norah7673 8 жыл бұрын
Yes, thank you! I totally wish there were more novels tackling the things that make humanity amazing if not beautiful to be a part of, because we all need to hear that right now. But like you said, I believe the historical fiction in this particular book was perfect to address it. So yeah, books are pretty amazing things.

My favorite books tell that I'm really messed up. They are about suicide, (Forgive me, Leonard Peacock and My heart and other black holes) just simply dying (The fault in our stars) or just plain depressing (all of the ones I've already mentioned, The book thief, The strange and beautiful sorrows of Ava Lavender). But then there is anything by Cassandra Clare so maybe there is hope for me :D

Pretty much all of my favorites (except for Harry Potter) have female leads who are almost always warriors. So I think that speaks to my need to be my own hero and my desire to be a protector of others and to be a leader even though I'm don't hold those qualities within me.

My favourite book is The book thief by Markus Zusak. I guess it means that books are my getaway, and family means a lot to me no matter how imperfect things may be with them , and most importantly no matter how much I strive to be a positive , social person and have come a long way down that road , deep down I know that I am a pragmatic person which often translates as a glass half-empty person , just like Death in this book.

This is a really cool idea. I like that you thought about your connection to these books and what they might reflect about you. Let me think if I can do that off the cuff about mine. Hmmm. I actually strongly identify with the flaws of the antagonist in White Oleander (Janet Fitch), my favorite book. I think she's a symbol of everything I can become if I'm not careful. I think Howl's Moving Castle (Diana Wynne Jones) represents my way of thinking about the world, that everything is a metaphor/has a deeper meaning. This video should become a tag!

I might steal this for a video of my own..... I guess one series I love is The Infernal Devices. I love the Victorian Era, I REALLY love good humor and those who also know when to be serious, and Tessa saves and gets saved and it's okay because a girl doesn't have to be either tough and clever or scared and "in distress" if you get the gist. Also PJO, just to name one thing about it: I think I like the fact that he's a kid who is scared but is able to recognize what's important endure, because I admire that quality. I think most books I love are because I aspire to be like the characters in an aspect, (then again, most of us want to live vicariously through them). I think there are a lot of books that I appreciate or like but don't live because they are too close to home, or the characters don't overcome a weakness I also have or something. I'm just speculating. I love this thought and it was a great video!

Me liking the Alice in Zombieland series shows that I am full of wit and am always up for a laugh especially when things aren't going so well. Lastly, liking the shadow hunter series shows that I like adventure and learning as much as I can about new places. Also, me liking all of these series shows that I like freaking strong female heroines.
