And trademark law only says that a trademark holder has to make an actual effort to prevent the trademark from becoming generalized. Pokemon's trademark was not at any risk as long as it was made clear on the download page that it wasn't an official pokemon game. Especially if the devs also told people to mention that it wasn't an official pokemon game if they made a video about it.

This whole USUM stuff with all those different world and dimensions and what not is the perfect way for them to just make any lore from all those years irrelevant if they want. After whatever happens in those games they could just let us start in a totally different Pokemon world than the one we are used to now. Different regions, different characters, different lore and story for all the Pokemon and so on and so forth. This could make it easier for them to tell new stories without paying attention to all the legendary Pokemon stories and region history we are used to and not force them to surpass themselves with every games story. Just a little example that came to mind: In the next pokemon game on the switch we could play a story in a region that's totally foreign and new to us, with all kind of new regional variants and what not, but till the end of the game we never hear the actual name of the region we are in. Plot twist: When we become champion they congratulate us to our title as the new champion of the "Kanto" region XD

Icewolfnector they are never going to completely throw away the lore like that unless they really do a complete reboot and it would be hard to advise a game without ever telling the audience the name of the region it’s played in. Remember this is a game for ten year olds so they wouldn’t go that complex it would just confuse their target audience. They would do simple changes that a ten year old could comprehend or worlds that even a 7 year old could immediately point out and say “that isn’t earth” (like ultra space) they wouldn’t do something in the middle for the sake of not driving the simpler part of their audience mad trying to comprehend. So while yes this could set them up to do something like that they can’t, because Younger people (for whom these games are intended) wouldn’t understand the contradictions, without the explanation for the drastic changes explained in a oversimplified way they might understand.

The "end of Pokemon" would be very fitting. After Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey it's a Great Time for a new Touch on pokemon How about a Open World like Game? Where you can choose the Order of the Badges you want to collect and with an Open Story like Otter Open World Games? With pokemon Walking all over the Place like.. for example.. Poképark? @@kerrywien6775 I didn't think it looked like a dragon's head, I thought it looked like a telescope, but yeah it is meant to be a dragon since Ultra Necrozma is its true full powered form. Though I don't remember anything about a meteorite, Rayquaza saved the world from a meteorite in the originals and the remakes, but I don't recall Necrozma doing that. Last I remembered Necrozma was captured and imprisoned in Ultra Megalopolis, which was why it loses its true form, all the energy was drained from it to power that world without light, and why it tries to consume Solgaleo or Lunala to absorb light and regain its true form. Which is why I compared it to Kyurem, neither of them are evil but are seen as antagonistic Pokemon, but no Pokemon is actually evil, it's either based on circumstances like these 2, or the trainer that catches them. Meanwhile Zygarde and Rayquaza are seen are "good" legendaries because they protect the planet. Nothing wrong with that, in fact it's why I like Kyurem and Necrozma, they're not evil just misunderstood.

here is something to tide you over. You remember Lt. Surge in the OG red and blue. In his time line the events from Ultra sun and moon happened early before most of the legendary pokemon had been awakened, and before the protagonist had appeared. Therefore while they won, they took a lot of damage to their world, and that is why Pokemon games didn't have color. Something similar happened in the X&Y universe except that time AZ and his Floette saved the world in exchange for Floette's colors turning black and red. Plus getting the move "light of ruin".
