My mom warned me about them when we found out I was pregnant. So, I was expecting them, however, it was a pain in the ass because they needed me to sign some things. I gave up after my fifth try and asked them if I could do it once the shaking had stopped. Was so glad my mom was there through the whole pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. It's from the shock your body goes through. Any time you shake uncontrollably, usually out of nowhere, and it doesn't last for longer than hour it is an indicator that you have shocked your system. It doesn't only happen during labor and postpartum. It can happen after an intense workout or when faced with sudden fear, really anything can cause the fight or flight response. To add: Usually when the shaking does last for longer than an hour or returns, it's from weakened and tired muscles.

I would just sit in a warm shower shaking. My husband(who was my boyfriend at the time) would come into the shower with me and just hold me. Our son is almost 11 now but yeah no one ever mentioned shaking to me. I was, however, made aware of the mess that comes with pregnancy though lol My SIL and mom told me about the mucus plug, discharge, how weird it is to poop, and how after birth how it would be down there and how you would have to wear a diaper lol. At least this generation has the internet more these days and is able to see videos like this.

I got the shakes while in labor. My doula suggested that I was likely in transition, it was intense! My baby girl arrived about 20 minutes later.

Got these during the push phase during an unmedicated birth. It was an odd sensation but, as with the rest of labor, i "leaned" into it and they soon passed.

I had the postpartum shakes, only for my first birth, and it was awful. It happened only in my legs. Nobody in my family had experienced them before so they couldn't tell me what was happening. I also experienced labor like pain, for almost 3 days postpartum with my 1st and 3rd birth.

My shakes were baddd and I was still shaking when the anesthesiologist went to put in my epidural. I was scared I’d get hurt cuz I couldn’t stay still. Thank god for my mom who prayed over me and held me and the shakes stopped. I was still a little shaky after the meds kicked in but at least my legs weren’t shaking because I couldn’t move them at all lol

I had these happen to me after every single one of my births. And the birth team for every birth (always a different group) treated it like they had never seen or heard of it before in their lives. They always either thought I was violently shivering or having a seizure. To see that this is a well know, well documented and common occurrence is a little frustrating.

I had the shakes right after delivery and was given an injection and immediately felt warm 50 years ago

Finally!!! I was exactly like this and no one could tell me what it is! Not even my doctor (which i now find very ignorant of him) and he brushed it off with a "this doesn't happen"🙄..my fiance was insisting that it was from psychological stress because it was first time i gave birth but i knew it was no such thing! For one more time i'm glad for the internet..

This happened to me so bad, the nurse brought me every warm blanket she had. I had no idea about the full body shakes after birth, I also didn’t know hospitals had little blanket ovens. 😂

This happened to me before and after, I didn't know this and thought I was dying😵💫 nit to mention scared to hold my baby after in fear I would drop the baby or shake the newborn and cause damage. Luckily the after stopped by the time the handed my baby to me. I also puked twice while in labor😵💫 I had natural birth with no medication, it was one of the scariest, most painfully, and most terrifying hours of my life but it was all worth it and I'd definitely do it again❤ my baby is the best thing in my life, sometimes I think that's the whole reason for my existence was to give life to that b-e-a-u-tiful child!

I thought it was because I had had a C-section! It didn't happen to me with my first baby (he was delivered via vaginal birth). My second one's birth was a C-section, and I shook for an hour or so (although it felt like an eternity). Thankfully my mom was there with me and reassured me that I was doing fine and that shaking was completely normal. ❤
