If you struggle with chip shots and pitch shots around the green it's because you have a chipping and pitching technique that is either too complicated or your trying to use the same technique for all shots.
In this video Danny Maude explains the difference between chipping and pitching and shows you exactly what technique to use and when.
Here's what you are going to learn
1. How you set-up to chipping and pitching is crucial for consistent strikes.
2. Really understand the bounce and exactly how to use it.
3. Use a chipping technique for chipping but a pitching technique for pitching
So if you are looking at improving your confidence with chip shots around the green watch the latest video from Danny Maude right here 👇 • What Nobody Tells You ...

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZbin and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Your pitching and chipping lessons have improved my short game so much. I have to adjust the club choice for distance, since I'm a lady, but now I'm always on the green or just off it. A huge improvement for me. I was a power swinger and now I'm a calm swinger on to the green.

My bounce is what is aimed at the front divot, the closer to the face toe means less spin. Trajectory is influenced by ball position on ground, and body angle, tip or not but fixed. Seems to work for all ground iron shots, even 1 iron..😊 Very shorts shots with height and/or spin, splash sand or flop are easier with bounce contact under the ball.

Pitching from 50 to 80 yards is the biggest hole in my game. I'm looking looking for a pitch and one put to make par. Pitch and two puts is a rare success. Most common is to miss the green with the pitch, another stroke to get to the green from a really difficult chip or bunker shot plus two puts leaving with me yet another double bogie. I've tried the clock system but the key issue I have is anxiety about uncertainty which leads to snatched shots or slow duffs. So everything you say in this video is a source of hope. Stop the mechanics and build the feel. Playing squash and badminton years ago, one of my point winning shots was the drop shot - all feel. So as you suggest I'll redevelop that lost skill for golf. Thanks for this reminder.

This video is for advanced players its not easy. I do this instead. I just narrow my stance more and more and choke down on club more and more as I get closer to the pin. Backswing also shortens naturally, you just dont feel like swinging hard once you are more and more narrow and gripping down. Otherwise my swing is same as full one. And the less I think about it, with this simple setup, the feel takes over and results in solid shots. Just to give an idea, my feet get close like his only when I am around the green inside 30 yards for chipping. Also he doesnt choke down which I think isnt easy for average golfers.

Well I was misunderstood then. When I say all summer, I just mean my usual once a week session would be either range or short practice area which means thats 2-3 times a month. I went 1 once a week max to short practice. Thats how it is for your casual amateur who works. And it is advanced in that its another type of swing to add to the bag. Maybe its easy for you who does this for a living but its not easy for casual like me.

From 50 to 80 yards you're not going to get up and down very often. The best in the world are not getting up and down from that distance very often. I've improved a lot since I started using less loft to pitch with, pw or gw rather than 56° just try to get it on the green close enough to 2 putt. You'll make the odd putt from distance and get the odd one really close. I shoot around the 90 mark and can shoot mod 80s at times and I barely hit greens in reg.

Hi Danny, great video - thanks. I assume you don't read comments from older videos so I hope I can get your attention here. You released a really good video on August 19th labeled "World's #1 Coach Reveals EASIEST Way To Hit Driver Straight" - can you elaborate on that downwards movement and perhaps talk a little bit about the sequence with iron shots as well? That video really resonated with me, and I've looked through your other videos, but you don't seem to talk too much about it elsewhere. I know you talk a lot about the 45 degree arc, but the downwards motion with arms, combined with a pivot did wonders for my swing. I hope you can make a future video about it. Cheers

@@DanielMaude I just wonder if that type of thinking (lifting arms, splashing the paint etc) can be applied to iron shots as well? The simplest thing to do at first is to focus on hitting the centre of the the club. I know that seems over simplistic but place an alignment stick or club in front of the ball pointing directly at the target. Now simply aim to hit the ball with a square face out of the centre

What bounce should you use please Danny? Here in Australia we can go from hitting off ground that's like concrete to like hitting off jelly within four feet of the same green. I never know whether it's the amount of grass the ball is in that should determine the bounce or whether it's the hardness of the ground under it??

Great video Danny. When I slow my swing down with my wedges I start to shank the ball. What could be causing this?

Spray the face with foot powder spray to see if you are hitting it off the toe or the heel. Then simply give yourself the task to hit the centre of the club face. Just like many others sports your body will learn to figure out how to hit the centre

Posture is super important on these little shots, don't rush to admire the results, keep your posture thru impact. Personally, I like to stand open on these "tweener" shots.

That's my wheel house with my pitching wedge because I am a short hitter and my wedge is usually only 100 yards max swing.

I will pay closer attention to my shots of the distance covered here because it's been potluck with me so far as to whether I get the club under the ball to give it any loft. Weight over the lead leg is an issue.

I smash a peg in the ground to practice my strike. Small target. You get used to scraping the top of the tee. Eventually you set the ball down and you know exactly where your low point will be.

As we have now gone on the summer course, im not realy able to hit most greens in regulation😢old age as shackled me. Like most seniors i need to chip it well to boogy the hole at worst or its the dreded double. I have a nasty habit of, on my backswing pulling my right arm in to may body result a shank😢 now i have had 50 years of no real problems but now, i stand over a pitch or chip terrified about the result!! This might just be the answer, ether that or chip one handed 😂

Can a twenty or higher handicap, actually get anything from this? If I had a fifty eight to sixty degree wedge, to hit it sixty yards, my forward lean, my hands would be six inches to a foot off the ground? Lets get OMP, to start a fix your swing, contact the ball, and putting video?

Some golfers can't pitch because they don't know where they're stopping the backswing. They take the club back, but haven't decided where to stop the backswing, so they have no rhythm on the way down.

The distance a ball travels is simply down to: - impact location on face - loft on the club - energy applied to ball
