Person: Do you sleep in a bed? Me: No. I sleep in a coffin filled with shredded newspaper. I also have to drink blood to live.

Oh my god if they ask you if you sleep in a bed? They might be emotionally compromised. I wouldn’t date somebody that asked me such a stupid question.

One thing ive learned from my interactions with people is to be patient. Some people do ask dumb questions but i find it very rare. You have to understand most able bodied people dont have a lot of interaction with people in wheelchairs so they really arent sure whats appropriate or what could be taken to be offensive. Im personally very difficult to offend as ive heard it all. I prefer bringing up the wheelchair thing early because its the elephant in the room and should be addressed asap so you can move beyond it and start getting to know each other instead of forcing the other person to hold in the ton of questions they obviously want to ask. I find getting it out early releases that tension.

al zolez I mean that's only one part of who you are why should it be the first thing you talk about over something else?

Youre absolutely right its only one part but its usually the first part that people notice and to not address it can sometimes be more awkward than addressing it . It doesnt literally have to be the first thing but imho it should be addressed early on as i have found that it relieves a ton of the other persons anxiety so they dont feel like theyre walking on egg shells being afraid not to offend. This has just been my experience as far as dating goes. Maybe its different for women as i can only speak on my experience.

I do understand what you mean it is obviously a very important part of who we are, but I would rather not be asked about it right away. I'd rather discuss other things first. Furthermore, I like to be the one to address it.
