Just baste it with butter, squeeze a few lemons over it, rub it with paprika and garlic, add a few bay leaves, pour some Kansas city rib sauce, preheat the oven to 350, put the glove in for an hour and a half should come out super tender and fall right off the webbing.

If u are gonna use oil use a hair dryer to warm up the glove open the pores up in the leather and then apply the oil. Really absorbs in and then beat it up tie it up etc

I understand why ovens or microwaves are really bad, but what about leaving a glove in a hot car? I've always done this with my gloves and it's worked great. I oil and wrap the glove with a rubber band and a ball in the pocket, then leave it in the car for a few days. Afterwards, the leather is always soft and the pocket formed nicely around the ball. Then a little hard breaking in and catch and it's ready to go.

once you're done the break in process try out saddle soap on your glove to keep it nice and healthy. Not sure if this is text book correct but my glove feels pretty amazing after a good saddle soaping

When I was a kid a few centuries ago, all the guys would use Crisco. Rub it in and do this a few times. After a while it was like wearing a condom and no mess when I took it off.

I believe they sell the laces online if you want to do it yourself, but I've had friends who emailed the company and told them to send it in and they fixed it.

As a kid I would lather it with cooking oil, toss in the oven for 5minutes with a ball and belt. I forget the temp I put. Maybe around 150f. It worked fantastic! lol I wish I never lost that glove =/

I read 35 years ago to put a ball in it, tie, it and soak it in water overnight. Then put neatsfoot oil on it. My A2000 was broken in perfectly and still is in good shape,although I'm not sure I would do it like that again.

I got a new glove for christmas and my friends dad broke it in for cheap. He's made a buisness out of it. Mine feels awesome, he broke it in the old fashion way by playing catch and working it in with his hands. always looking for more gloves to break in.

I would never let someone else put their hand in my glove, it molds to your hand and stretches, especially if his hand is bigger than the person he's breaking it in for

I have been coaching youth baseball on and off thru children and grandchildren since 1985. I have broken in many gloves for my players using Neatsfoot oil and the microwave. It works fine and fast. Just soak the glove in oil, microwave 1 minute, resoak and microwave 1 more minute. Wipe the excess oil off and you are ready to go.
@lafreeway10 жыл бұрын
***** I see your point and acknowledge it in theory. However, in actual reality, not theory, I have been doing it satisfactorily for many years. The glove I am using to coach my grandson's tball team was put in my microwave the day I bought it, 8 or 9 years ago, and it is still soft and pliable. I think the fact that I only microwave it for a maximum of 2 minutes total limits the amount of damage done.
@WeirdMedicine10 жыл бұрын
I hear ya, but I will say the last glove we baked DID break a lace recently and had to be redone. Perhaps it would have happened anyway, but it broke INSIDE the glove, reinforcing this guy's point. Interesting, but anecdotal evidence.

I used hot glove (I think thats what its called) and baked it according to the directions, but ended up with a burned up logo and dried up laces on the inside. I had to spend $75 on relacing it, because the laces inside became brittle and broke. I'll never use that stuff again. (Yeah, I know it was stupid.) : )

who he held put there glove in the oven just Stupid. Who oils a new glove stupid again it's already oiled. Step one get a pal run hot water from your bath tub. Put your glove in the pal. Gloves have oil so you may have to repeat this with hot water for a few days so the leather is really wet. Doesn't have to be hot all the time just leave it in the water. take it out let it drain. Now take a large ball and start forming your pocket. You want the ball to hit the figure next to the wed or patch. Stretch out all three fingers to form the pocket. Stretch this as many times as you like. All gloves can be different, spend some extra cash and get a good one. If you buy cheap you will buy again next year. Another trick is take clamps and bend the tips of the three finger over and clamp. The reason for that is so a spinning ball will stay in your pocket. Also clamp the palm of your glove so it will open and close nicely. You now have to let the leather dry, yes tie a ball in it. Dry at room temperature, may take a day or so. keep taking the ball out and foam the pocket and bend the three fingers over, put the ball back and let the leather dry slowly. The only reason I spent the time writing this is some ass hole said put it the oven and you can re string it ( stupid ). Hundred years ago ?? Cowboys would buy new boots put them on and stand in a creek till the leather was wet then jump on there horse and ride into the sunset. Two days later they fit like glove. After you have done all this work on your glove, she is your baby and ready to break some batters hearts. No you don't need to oil the glove after this is done but look at in in the fall. When you do oil be sure to oil the strings. Have a great ball season

+Pat Stevens what advice would you have for my son who happens to be 8yrs old? He left his glove outside last night during a thunderstorm. I panicked when I saw it so I brought it inside wrapped it in a dry towel with a ball inside. Did I mess it up? It's still wrapped as I write this, believe me he learned a lesson on responsibility,in more ways than one if you get my drift...lol.. Anyway,any advice would greatly be appreciated!!

This is nonsense, I used hot glove for my older boys glove in 2005 and my now nine year old has used those same gloves in 2015, 2016 & 2017. typical old school bs, to set in their old ways to move forward. The laces will keep for the playing life off your kid.
@aburkett187 жыл бұрын
"set in their old ways to move forward"....what??? That makes a lot of sense! And what the heck does this RAWLINGS guy know about gloves anyway, right??? Okay look, it is a bad idea to put your brand spankin' new glove in the oven if you are someone who has to watch a KZbin video to learn how to break in a new glove. For a newbie, that could be devastating. For someone who's broken a few, or someone who's extra careful and understands what dry heat could potentially do to leather, fine, great that it works for you. But like I said, for someone who has to watch a video on how to break in glove, the oven is definitely not the ideal way to go.
@robertwaggoner74475 жыл бұрын
I always use glove heat. Especially on catchers gloves. Never an issue. Glove heat. Clean. Condition. Oil. It’s better the soaking it in water. That would cause the laces to dry out.
@RockoYourSocksoff10 жыл бұрын
Yes, use it. Plain and simple. All other ways are for wussies.
