Same bro played and maxed on osrs first then decided to give RS3 a go and ended up maxing there to and I enjoy both games as almost two totally different games with so similar feels but it's like comparing osrs to Vanilla WoW or apples and oranges just appreciate them and RS3 for the fact it shields osrs from MTX and avoid MTX in RS3 if such a issue and play RS3 ironman ontop 😂

I have a tab for mtx items. I’ve been putting every mtx item I get from spins in there and haven’t touched any of them except springs, feathers, and notepaper in years. You don’t have to use mtx items they give you if you feel like it ruins the game. Also you don’t need to care about what other people are using on their accounts. RuneScape is a game for goals for you to experience through time

Optics and communication horrible but the sky isn't falling imo. 16 year old player(not the whole time) and just been slowing going from Master Comp to trim. Got Chompies, 1k Fish Flingers tokens, and 6 champion scrolls to go. Dunno why people were tripping over the recolored cosmetic that was free( you could have gotten a pass with Bonds). Most don't even wear the OG or probably haven't done the Yak Track to get them. They are now free with Oddiments just RNG to get specific ones. If it was recolors of in game stuff like the platinum Nex armors then sure. IMO people expect the only monetization to be membership and it's not the RS2 days anymore. I rarely see Solomon store stuff in game. Remember lucky items? They got rid of that so besides xp what's the benefit for your account? I could be massively missing something on that though. I wish there was a good balance of MTX or monetization so they also had the ability to make content like OSRS has. I like the OSRS and RS3 has a Fossil Island. Would be cool to get more of that, parallels.

@@bigbrisk8423 Yes Dragons Dozen and from Umbra chests. Obv the point was they didn't continue making more and made it super limited. You also can't augment them so they effectively a cosmetic. Membership the only MTX? So they should raise the price of membership for the same effect as now. Membership would truely be worthless. Development in any game isn't cheap. Get over it. EoC saved the game. Wasn't fleshed on in the start but without it don't know where the game would be. OSRS development process is different from the main game so you can't point to that. Tons of polling from what I know which the main game has never done. What ever game you like better is your opinion.

MTX was implemented because at the time 50% of the player base was participating in RWT and in an effort to counter that Jagex released SoF. Complain about it all you want but its clearly a feature the current player base enjoys as Earning Statements prove. Is it predatory? Yes. is it Ethical? Probably not. but look at other MMO's like World of Warcraft, BDO, Neverwinter. They have the same MTX implemented. why? because its obvious there is a a majority who would rather would sink $60 over 60 hours. Runscape was one of the first MMO's to offer a way of playing with 0 interaction with other players and removing MTX entirely. so once again. You are choosing to take part in the majority.

Right, its a bit of a fallacy this, but an understandable one. Whenever MTX/Gacha/Whatever is involved (paying for in-game content), a *minority* of the playerbase makes up the *majority* of the revenue. Games such as BDO and all the Mihoyo games are specifically designed to attract and milk the whales for as much as they are worth. From a revenue standpoint, Jagex doesn't really care about Joe Smith paying £10 for a cosmetic he likes the look of, they want the whales who will buy 300 keys every week. The majority of the playerbase will probably participate someway in MTX, but they do not make up the majority of the money on the earning statements, so it's not something you can say the playerbase "enjoys" and point to the revenue as proof.

I'm just saying if we didn't have MTX and only had a subscription they have to make new content to keep subscribers and it has to be good. When you're only a subscription you have only your games content to make money. When your subscription only you have to make a good game. The problem with MTX is they're allowed to be LAX because there's people paying the difference and usually unfortunately they make more money this way.

I decided to make an Ironman on rs3 not long ago after playing osrs for ages. Been enjoying it a ton and still log in daily for almost 4 months now. Playing without boosters and auras and treasure hunter and whatnot, but I don't see the need for them either. The only things I don't like with rs3 on ironman restrictions is that I think most of the cosmetics people run around in look dreadful and that the medieval or low fantasy weapon and armor designs of osrs look much better than the super high fantasy designs in rs3. That and the playerbase being low and that few other players are on fresh accounts. It does feel a bit empty.

For all we know they are struggling with money or are looking to expand to compete with that new game that came out thats JUST like runescape... made by the guy who made runescape... i say support whats going on, buy some keys, support the creators that have kept us entertained for years. Thanks for commenting this, it led me to Google it. Looks like it could be a fun game except that you have to choose 1 out of 3 Combat classes. Personally, I hate those games so probably won't play it much and given that so many rs players are completionists, I'm not sure they'll be stealing that much of a marketshare

Videos like this are why, despite playing only RS3.. I lean towards watching OSRS videos. You all make RS3 feel depressing and shameful to play..

I am forever hopeful. The TH MTX is getting ridiculous. I don't expect them to intentionally kill off the game, but that won't necessarily stop them from running it into the ground. Their optics are already pretty horrendous. Two years ago, I happily recommended the game to friends. Today, I have a hard time recommending it outside Ironman mode.

OSRS does have regular content but that game is easier to dev i think. Crappy graphics, oblong people etc. i would like RS3 to just give us fun combat stuff like the colosseum. People like killing stuff, not that hard to think of fun stuff

​@@axceon slippery. There's a much healthier balance, opposed to just acting like it's all or nothing. RS3 makes hundreds of millions of pounds a year from a fraction of OS's player base. That number is distinctly inflated by optional/non-membership MTX but not wholly represented by it. We need it to keep the game afloat, but they know we have a population that would literally rather PAY than PLAY sometimes, and they provide the means to do so. I love RS3, circa 2001. Still know they could do better with less egregious forms of MTX.

By the time you come back, there will be new content. I just started playing rs3 last year, I haven't played since OSRS started so i made a new account because I had no idea what to do. I cannot tell you how overwhelming my friend and I felt. She has never played, I've played on and off since 2006. The fact that I need 200 webpages open to learn about each item guides suggest for a skill alone was enough to make me second guess my decision to play. Every guide I came across had 20 minutes of talking to me like i'm a maxed player going for 200m exp, meanwhile I just want to get my skill to 30 or something like that. I'm sorry, sometimes when you do everything in a game, it's just time to call it. Quit. You won, son. Step away. The idea that Jagex needs to flood the game with non stop content so max players aren't bored while putting everyone else even further behind is insane. You truly have no idea what it's like taking on rs3 as a new person and how much is already there that you did.

Yes, it is difficult to find any current lower level guides, they don't get the traffic negative titles can garner. The irony and hypocrisy of these videos is that these "bashing" videos are the equivalent of MTX for the channels. Do they in fact create "new" content for their viewers? Nope, just this whining(MTX) that is pure clickbait(MTX) and generates revenue through ads and view counts(MTX). well since a lot of people in the runescape community dont research. or understand real world.. content cant just be pumped out of no where it takes time. rs3 had an entire new skill added didnt they? sure its not a new map but its replayability. sure i wouldnt mind new maps to explore that would be cool. osrs does not have 5x the amount of players. they do have more tho. but those big numbers are actually bots. if we saw a bot nuke like we did in 2010 or whenever it happen it would look exactly the same. going from like 250k to 49k

Its already fell down hard since the release of eoc 😂😂. This game isnt fun when it comes to combat, pvp is dead, pvm sucks, the game is basically skillscape with tons of mtx its a joke n a half 😂😂😂. We all voted against eoc yet somehow they rigged the polls overnight just so they didnt waste time trying to make an update and implemented it regardless what we as a community wanted. They made eoc so they just gave us the illusion of choice knowing full well theyd implement the garbage system regardless what we wanted. They def fixed the poll so they could put eoc in the game even though noome liked it

Uhm. 1.) Eoc wasnt polled. There is no polling system in RS3. 2.) PVM is argubaly in a better state than OSRS just due to the mechanics EoC brings, if it is your cup of tea or not is personal preference, but the vast majority of OSRS PVM content boils down to "stand here, move here, pray switch, gear switch, click boss when able". I haven't touched RS3 since, what, 2016. I mainly play OSRS for context.

Ive been subbed to this youtube channel for two years, but Ive unsubscribed after watching this video. If I wanted to watch people whine and crib about rs3, Id go read reddit instead. Jagex/Mtx isnt whats killing the game. The only thing that can actually kill this game unfortunately are the ~100 people who quit the game years ago, constantly shitting on the game to justify to themselves that theyre the second coming of jesus for having left the game behind, and also content creators like this, who make clickbaity videos with all doom and destruction in their title so they can then pretend to be the smartest person on the planet for figuring out what 99% of the playerbase with more than 2 braincells already knows (That maybe the hated filled entitled basement dwellers of the rs3subreddit views actually arent an accurate representation of the state ot the game) Cuz guess what? Most people arent gonna click on this video, theyre gonna look at the thumbnail, and the title, and thats gonna help them form an opinion on the game. New players would see it (and posts on the subreddit) and think the game isnt worth picking up. The only critiques you had in your entire video were all caused by the toxic community as well just fyi. Mtx exists, because people bitched and moaned about bots. Jagex did the bot nuke update, killing off 50% of their revenue and playerbase overnight. Mtx came out to keep the company afloat. (This is also why osrs will NEVER get a bot nuke) Jagex doesnt communicate a roadmap, cuz last time they did, reddit lost their absolute minds that they marked heropass as a "major" update, instead of just a "normal" update. And then proceeded to talk about how a reskinned yak track is the equivalent of hitler. Jmods dont respond as much to the community, cuz when they do, they get targetted for hate and get 20 people accusing them of hatecrimes cuz their communication wasnt 100% verbatim exactly what they wanted to hear or fit their deluded narrative. For example, Some manchild on reddit who was saying only 2 out of 100 game devs worked on combat beta got a reply from mod fowl saying there has never been a 100 game devs working on rs3 and where they got that number from, only for fowl to get berrated by a bunch of redditards, with one of them making a post trying to use fowls reply as a way to "confirm rs3 is dead cuz we dont have a 100 devs, heres the proof" You wanna see this game thrive? Start with yourself, not Jagex.

Don't get me wrong reddit is a cesspool but I think you're giving them a larger role than the echo-chamber that they are. The devs really see it as not much different than the rants section of the forums which has been mocked internally within Jagex for more than a decade. OSRS manages a roadmap, good communication by the devs (just look at the combat updates they're putting out or all the shit they released about Valormore). OSRS won't get a botnuke because the engine likely doesnt support the anti-bot measures that RS3 uses, and the OSRS team have maybe convinved themselves it's fine because it keeps resource prices low. The idea this video is trying to convey is that people would be /fine/ with MTX if it released alongside actual content, but it's not. A good portion of devs working on RS3 work on MTX content and considering everyone pays money for this game, paying a subscription solely just to have MTX be advertised to you will have people quit.

take this from someone thats played this game for 20+ years and currently does not play. The game IS DEAD don't listen to what anyone tells you. The amount of stupid shit currently in the game that still hasn't been changed for so many years, every update is microtrasactions and treasure hunter. Ever since Zamorak was released game has been going downhill very very fast and continues to do so. Who cares if "the game isnt dead because x amount of players still play" reason RS3 right now is not RS3, its a gambling game where they scam you and try to get you to buy things. Ignoring this doesn't fix anything as well don't even try to say that. Sure heropass was awful/vorkath/etc but im telling you ZAMORAK was the turning point, it still is very buggy/a shit boss and after OVER A YEAR they changed p7 rune health to 1/2 of what it was. These kind of changes happen all the time in this awful game and every single time they do it makes you question yourself why am i even going to bother if they will just change this eventually/make it easier/ULTRAPOWERCREEP will solve my problems. The nex aod intricate chest changes were attrocious, took too long to change drop rates of elder god wars/it didn't need to be changed. They make a combat beta and mod sponge and i quote says "equilibrium needed to be changed" that 5 word sentence should tell you everything alone about how actually clueless the developers are. Blood reaver makes the game unfun and is so broken its actually crazy that has been like that for years, i could go on forever game is a complete mess. Lastly ill add (which seems to be in every multiplayer game now) everyone that plays this game has such an ego now and is unbearable. 1 last one..... extra garbage update, people getting 30-50b for walking up to santa for 3 seconds to get a black partyhat, while simultaneously devalueing anyone that ever grinded runescape to make money and go for rares/items in the game. Absolutely wild some people spent a few seconds in game to have a larger net worth than some people that have been playing this game for decades absolutely spitting in the faces of the playerbase. "we wont make aurora dye go in the treasure hunter" *1 year later* COME GET YOUR 5 X AURORA DYE DROPS FROM THE NEW TH PROMO HUEHUE. I cant help myself if you knew what i knew and have a good memory this game is................AWFUL trying to even argue against me would make you look like a damn clown the game is that bad
