Hey man I have been battling with decent video at race events for some time now Came across your video and decided to try the Rapid-Fire myself and at my most recent race it worked out great. I did one other thing and that was going LHCP on my antennas which might have helped as well. Am keen to see how the module holds up at future races. Thanks for the video

The other receiver modules also have a rather large time constant on their RSSI output signal. The cutoff frequency was in the region of around 10 kHz when I meassured the step response of the RSSI on my fatshark module, the RX5808 was even slower if I remember correctly. This will mean that it takes a lot of time from the moment the antenna receives a bad signal due to cancenling in multipathing and the RSSI changing its voltage significantly. So it cannot switch quickly if there is a short signal drop. I would think that the rapidfire uses a better RSSI output that changes its voltage quicker when the signal amplitude is changing.

BlackPixxelDE very interesting! I know that Tony from IRC has said that in rapidfire mode, antenna switching does not utilize rssi at all. That's why I assume they use some signal processing technique

Maybe it looks at the parts of the signal that should always be the same: The sync pulses and the time between the lines/frames. These part of the signal wil very likely be at a wrong voltage level when the reception is weak.

Excellent review! Hope to see more like this in the future, thus I subscribed. I've been enjoying my rapidFIRE but I also experience capability issues because of the OSD chip on my FC in 3 out of 4 of my quads. It's a 20x20 Omnibus F4 from MyRCMart. While BF OSD is hooked up I get lots of flickering and dark screen frames as the lock is lost and regained. Taking the FC and it's OSD out of the equation, the rapidFIRE works as advertised. Frustrating, but the video feed is so much better than the built-in modules in my previous Aomway Commander V1 googles so I'll put up with losing BF OSD for now hopinh that IRC comes up with another firmware update that improves compatibility.

Nice review. What module were you using before the RapidFire and how does it compare?
@SkyFpv6 жыл бұрын
I was using the internal modules on my Skyzones, and then briefly used a True-D after I got the HDOs. Also borrowed Clearviews from time to time at big races. The Clearview groundstation is the only thing that I can say beats this module. But for the price, it damn well better!

Was this with the foxeer, arrow v2, I have the v3, but it's ntsc.
@SkyFpv6 жыл бұрын
ripping j mine are the foxeer arrow micro pro from RDQs website. I believe mine are ntsc since there are 30 frames between each osd second tick

Sky Fpv thanks, for the reply yeah I have mine on pre-order, through rdq, suppose to be in the end of this month, hopefully the bugs will be out of it, hopefully my rssi, and osd, will work with it to.

ripping j I think this thing is still worth the money in compatibility mode, but I'd have to compare to it against other modules to say that for sure. And I think the OSD problems are much bigger than the camera problems typically

Is it just me but why should we pay $500 for googles and then have to pay more of these devices. $500 should be have this built in it... This needs to change... Fatshark sucks as a company
@psychwardfpv43536 жыл бұрын
Dont get me wrong I love my HDO's but For 500 bux they could at least put a better DVR in it. Come on Fatshark you've made enough money it's time to give back a little.
@Blahde6 жыл бұрын
Then buy Skyzone or Aomway. Fatties do what they want as they own the market (mostly) and can get away with it. If folks jump ship because of Price, Fatshark will add bells and whistles or drop their prices.... ...But only when their sales are affected. It's all about market forces mate.

Get the dji...! They come with everything! And it is actually nice. If your smas get messed up. Instead of buying new goggles... you can get another mod🤗
