I know PAL is used in the EU and NTSC is primarily used in the US, but with buying gear from all over the place, does caue you ending up with a "Heinz Variety" of a build...

I think I explained that it keeps the framerate more consistent and gets rid of the black screen flashes in the DVR.

Any word on whether the Attitude V5 uses the FSV3303 DVR and will work? Also a follow up confirming whether the update improves the audio sync issues in DVR footage would be appreciated. Got V5s and would really like the audio to at least vaguely sync with the video.

I thought my DVR board was Damaged! ( Read if you can't Acces the DVR Menu ) A little weird thing happen. I was Doing the update and then try to acces the DVR Menu, Long Press and nothing happening. My Module was off and Still Nothing, then i notice a steady red light no matter what. cant Record or Stop. So i power my Googles off, remove the SD and Power on. No Light, insert the SD card and now i can record and Stop but no Menu, After numerous attempts of Long Press Nothing Happened. Desperation Kicked in and i try to See the On Screen Rapid fire Menu by moving the mini stick, once on that menu with the Black Screen I can Finally Acces the DVR menu with the long press. Maybe this will Help someone!

PrismWarp My goggle case had a big silver sticker across the top that said “V1.2a RapidFire DVR f/w.” If yours didn’t have this sticker then chances are you still have the older firmware.

Thanks for the video JB, it's reminded me of an issue I have, with Rapid Fire connected to the second module bay on my HD3's for extra power, I cannot access the DVR menu. The on-off switch only switches the main module bay off but the Rapid fire still gets power from the second bay which means I can't see the DVR menu. There must be a fix for this without having to disconnect the ribbon cable from the second bay??

If your firmware is upto date on Rapidfire you can turn the module off in the Rapidfire menu :)

Hey @joshuabardwell This is still the same update from months ago, right? If so, check the DVR footage in Premiere Pro. You'll see that it's not 30.0fps, or (the standard) 29.97fps, so it's still funky.

I think it's more difficult to do than it seems. The issue is that when sync pulses are lost, the DVR chip itself doesn't record frames. So the framerate of the segments where no frames are msising is correct. But then frames go missing. And that's why Premiere shows a non-standard framerate--because it shows the length of the video divided by the number of frames. This may not be something that's easy to fix with a firmware update. It may require use of a totally different DVR chip.

Take it to the max! Don't format. I didn't. Consider that the program is going to look for a file in the root called cresfw.bin. That is the only requirement. No need to clear your history of videos. The program isn't that stupid.

@@JoshuaBardwell Yeah, yeah, I know, I know,,... Firmware updates are always done while holding your breath. Just like burning CD's in the early years. But I just used a little logic here. You pop that SD card in and out with all sorts of data on it. The DVR doesn't take any action until it sees that exact file available and then it does it automatically. That's not exactly hold-your-breath logic. I flashed mine to 1.2a the day I got it. I recently flashed it back to 1.1 to see if there was any change in quality, then put it back to 1.2a. It sucks either way,....

madsloper The FW 1.1 is often already installed on your goggles. I am not sure, but I got my Fatshark goggles a month ago, and I think the FW1.1 was already installed when I got them. Maybe the FW 1.2a is also already installed. Tell my if I’m not correct. I am not sure at all but I hope that I maybe helped you just a little bit.

i have an isssue where my dvr wont let me record when i have an sd card in. When i hold thje dvr button the light below the sd card slot will stay a solid red. If i press it once to try to start recording it will make a single beep sound but will continue to stay lit red, and not blink to indicate that it is recording.

This is all fine but my Domv3 will not display the DVR screen using RapidFire w/the Aux board EVEN with the antennas turned off as instructed by the User Manual. I just get a lot flashy white screen. And the module whines like crazy. As a result, I can't format the card to do a firmware patch. . I'm a handy guy with the soldering iron but I'm really not feeling having to crack them open again to do the L1 & L10 mod. Is that the only alternative?

I should mention that the receiver module works just fine when it comes to getting video from the vtx. This seems to be strictly a DVR matter. Dude. The tutorial clearly says, follow all of these steps or you will brick your DVR. Then you skipped a step. No offense but this is entirely on you :-( Sorry for your loss but slap yourself on the head one time for me okay? The document says if you ship your DVR board back to Fat Shark they can un-brick it for you. There is no way for you to do it at home. The document says, for many people it will be cheaper to just buy a new DVR board and replace it at home.

HD2's updated! MicroSD speed wise I discovered the Mixza 32GB card I use only writes at 4MB/s (incorrect, see below edit), but that's fine because the FS DVR writes at around 1MB/s. Well it was only $6 and has a little picture of a shark on it :) The other shark 32GB Mixzas I bought at the same time write at 10MB/s - but hey, $6 from Banggood! edit: Re-tested the card in the same USB3 reader but in a USB3 port, that 3MB/s write speed is actually over 10MB/s.

You get very bad recording if you switch from a quad using PAL camera to another quad using NTSC or the opposite and forget to stop/start recording. You might end up losing your quadcopter and not be able to use the DVR to find where it went down.

I believe that there was a small remaining issue in 1.2 that only occurred for some people. If you are on 1.2, I would personally upgrade to 1.2a.

I did the update a while ago but I occasionally still get a DVR file that is black and white and is split in the middle (the top part of the picture is at the bottom and vice-versa)... Anyone else has those?

The issue might relate to NTSC and PAL. After the firmware update, the DVR no longer auto-switches between NTSC and PAL. So if you start a recording, then switch cameras, the resulting file will be garbage.
