Anakin seemed to have a lot of respect for Yoda. He never directly challenged him. He sought Yoda out to help him with his “nightmares”. With how many Jedi their seemed to be and with everything Yoda had to do he also took time to talk with Anakin, which I’m guessing was a rare thing. So either Yoda liked him or at least thought he was important to the Jedi.

I can see a mutual respect there. I think the problem with the Order was they always counted the ones that turned to the Dark Side as too far gone. There was too much dogma in the Order period. I don't know, I will just say it felt mutual until it wasn't. 🤷

I think it wouldn't have been a light saber duel at all. Obi wan and anakin were mostly evenly matched in the force at that point as anakin hadn't mastered his new dark side abilities. So it came down to who could win in a saber duel. Yoda wouldn't have had to draw his light saber. He would have raggy dolled anakin about that platform and thrown his ass in the lava. After a stern lecture on the true meaning on the force obviously. Lol

Nah a lightsaber battle would've happened but Yoda would've finished him easily. Anakin may have had experience during the Clone Wars but Yoda has much more experience and is much more in tune with the force. Anakin never faced Yoda's level of speed and skill

I disagree. I think Anakin had more of “the force” and he relied on that. Obi-Wan was dedicated, hard working even tempered and was humble. Basically he was a better Jedi. They were evenly matched as duelist, but not in the force.

Yoda's Ataru would have completely negated Anakin's Djem'So. Yoda was way too fast, way too skilled. Anakin would not have been able to generate any momentum at all. And to be honest, that would have really freaked him out making his defeat come even faster

Although i would say in season 6 of clone wars, yoda had respect for anakin and they actually had a connection (not as strong as obi wan). Yoda acknowledged anakin was an unorthodox jedi and came to anakin to help on "disappearing" from the council temporarily.

It's generally accepted that the reason Yoda left was because reinforcements were coming - more of a he didn't beat him ontime, rather than he couldn't beat him (cause clearly Yoda was winning the fight but had to flee)

Look at how easily yoda defeated ventress. He was able to take her lightsabers using the force which didn't happen often. Then deemed her so below him that he gave the lightsabers back. Yoda would have taken out vader quickly. But that leads to the other question. What drove luke was trying to redeem his father, and the love that he had for anakin. If anakin wasn't there, he may had been filled with hate especially when he were to find out a jedi killed his father. So it would be luke who would be driven to the dark side out of hate.

If the force was so adamant about Anakin needing to be the one to dismantle the dark side after years of galactic oppression, you'd think Yoda would have enough of a connection to the light to feel that it was not his place to kill him. Or maybe the Jedi were too disconnected by then.

The Jedi being disconnected is what allowed Palpatine's and Plagueis' plan to work right under the Jedi's noses and was somwth i ng they actively encouraged and fostered at every turn. It was a slow process over many years and had started long long before even Plagueis was a Sith but he and Sidious absolutely sped that process up and further clouding their abilities to use the force through rituals and more, actively encouraging the Jedi to become more and more entwined with the Republic. This constantly transitioned them from the borderline royalty they used to be, viewed with awe and reverence, to glorified Police Officers, security guards and soldiers/generals, ultimately subservient to the Republic. . Yoda actually did get something akin to this insight during his battle with Sidious. Remember that moment where Sidious and Yoda are having a lightning battle in Revenge of the Sith? That moment where Yoda looks like he's about to get overwhelmed but then we get a close-up-zoom of his face and we see renewed determination on Yoda's face before the Grandmaster makes one last mighty push back, causing the force explosion that launches him off the Senate Pod while Palpatine, despite being thrown further, was closer to the centre of the pot at the time when the detonation went off and so he managed to stay on. THAT moment, as we discover upon reading the Revenge of the Sith, is when Yoda has the realisation that he and the Jedi had lost before they'd even started. They'd lost before Yoda was even born. . The Sith had changed over the course of the last 1000 years or so since their defeat in the last Jedi/Sith War. They'd become more than just a martial order of dark side users. The Sith had sought new ways to power and different kinds of power at that. The Sith had evolved and become something new, something more. The Jedi meanwhile had spent the last Millenium preparing for a war that was never going to be fought. Training and training, ever vigilant for the next conflict with the Sith. The same conflict it had always been. In time, even that vigilance began to die out as many believed the Sith extinct. A belief that was always fostered by the existing Sith whenever the opportunity arose. . In any case, what Yoda learned from this insight (keep non mind that when Order 66 was finally given and the plan of the Sith carried out, the cloud of the Dark Side was fully lifted and Yoda was shown a multitude of visions including Luke and Leia, glimpses of the future, of Vader and most of all, he understood his priorities. Don't get me wrong, if that force explosi okn had gone differently and Yoda hadn't fallen the way he did, he may well have killed the Emperor however, he'd just fallen a great distance, his age was starting to catch up with him and he knew he'd have to take out the Emperor soon or risk getting too tired and slowing down/making a mistake. Moreover, once Yoda regained himself after his fall, he could feel the Clone Troopers (in ever increasing numbers) all rushing to get to the Emperor. With a heavy heart, Yoda realises that his opportunity to kill the Emperor has past he's lost his window.- hence why he tells Bale Organa "Failed I have, into exile I must go." By this point, Yoda had learned that he NEEDED to survive in order to train the next generation of Jedi so THEY can be the ones to balance the force in the end.

Time was of the essence. If Palpatine realized Vader had been killed (which he would have) then he would likely increase his security 10x so it was impossible to get to him, or he would hunt down Yoda and Obi-Wan with the full might of the empire in order to extinguish the threat to himself. In canon and legends he doesn't make any special effort to find Yoda or Kenobi. He relishes in the fact that they're likely still alive and having to live with the pain and sadness of having their entire order destroyed and seeing the Sith ruling the galaxy. If he actuallyy considered them a threat to his life then he would make it his priority to find and destroy them, as well as make himself impossible to get to. Yoda and Obi-wan are very powerful, but there's no way they'd be able to fight their way through the entire imperial palace into the emperor's throne room and then take him in a fight. He would be aware they were coming as soon as they entered the palace and he would simply order all imperial troopers to the palace. Even if they somehow managed to get to his throne room by fighting through the waves and waves of reinforcements, they would be exhausted and no match for the full power of the emperor and his personal royal guards as well.

Oh yeah, and the fight would have only lasted a couple minutes, at most. He would have killed Anakin-Vader, lopping off his head, and then fought Sidious when he arrived on Mustafar soon after. Then Obi-Wan would come out of hiding at the peak of the battle, distracting Sidious, and Yoda could have won. Padme might not have died during childbirth either, with Yoda there to reinforce her spirit with force heal. But even if she did still die, both Yoda and Obi-Wan (if Sidious didn't kill him) would be able to train Luke and Leia in the force to restart the Jedi order.

Yoda didnt want to fight Sidious in any situation of 1v2+. The reason why was he knew that Sidious would use Yoda's compassion against him and target weaker Jedi, which would make Yoda vulnerable when he responded to protect them, sort of how Dooku tried to crush Anakin and Obi Wan in one of their duels, he distracted Yoda which made Yoda very vulnerable if Dooku had chosen to attack Yoda in that time. Yoda was the only one that could stand a chance against Sidious besides Mace, with Mace gone, he had no one else who could protect themselves enough to where Yoda wouldnt have to sacrifice himself to protect them, which would inevitably get them all killed.

Gotta say you were good up until the Padme part. She lost her will to live because she couldn't deal with her husband going to the Dark Side. She still gives birth to Luke and Leia, she still passes, and we still see the funeral but maybe Yoda and Obi Wan now take the twins to train them but then no Chewy and Han though because Luke is not send to Tattooine, no Book of Boba Fett, still get Mando but then no uneven Disney trilogy. 👍

Siddious, perhaps, for the first time ever hit Vader with the brutal truth to shake him out of his self-pity. It is a necessary but brutal step to make Vader useful to Siddious again. Yoda would have killed anakin without any mercy, unlike the way Obi-Wan did, if you consider leaving anakin burning mercy.

to be fair, it was Vader not Anakin anymore, which made Vader pretty unballanced in the force as he was only a sith for a few days at that point. Sure he was matching Kenobi but everyone knows that Kenobi wasn't a powerhouse when it comes to the force. So I'd say Yoda would win 8 out of 10 times considering if Vader can somehow catch Yoda off guard.

I think we go back to Obi Wan's statement about "a certain point of view". Throughout the Clone Wars series, we see Anakin seek guidance from Yoda. Anakin respected Yoda, moreso than Obi Wan. Qui Gonn was a father figure to Anakin and, Obi Wan a brother. In that vein, Yoda was the sagely grandfather to Anakin. Not just that. Yoda was so very often kind to his opponents, seeking to disarm a situation. When all other avenues failed, he would certainly kick ass. BUT, he would exhaust diplomacy first. I think Palpatine knew this. Yoda would have destroyed Vader, but saved Anakin. He would have counseled Anakin that Palpatine and the dark side were playing him. It was Palpatine that kept putting Padme at risk. She would not need saving if Palpatine and the dark side were removed. Yoda may have been able to talk Anakin into repenting, thus destroying Vader before he really got going. There is no doubt that the combined efforts of Yoda and Anakin, and possibly Obi Wan, would have ended Palpatine. In the small chance that Yoda could not have persuaded Anakin to return to the light, he would have had no hesitation in obliterating Vader. Anakin may have been Yoda's approximate equal in lightsaber mastery, but Yoda was infinitely stronger in Force mastery even with Anakin tapping into the dark side. Anakin anger (and a bit a jealousy) towards Obi Wan would not be present if it was Yoda on Mustafar.

IMO , Darth Vader is the greatest villain of all time, like many i grew up with him, he was ruthless, and i love how hes portrayed, with limited movement he dispatches his enemies with ease, as at 3"01 almost like a dance, beautiful. And yes Yoda would have made very short work of him on Mustafar.

What has been overlooked/missed by the Jedi (as a whole) is Padme Amidala. She was the key to defeating the Sith - giving birth to two children who would grow up to not only form the rebellion in it's full strength - but also be able to resist the temptation of Palpatine - and bring Anakin back from the Dark Side enough to turn against Palpatine. If Yoda had gone against Anakin on Mustafar, it's a 'no-win'. Anakin would have died, but the shock of it would have killed Amidala and her unborn children, as she was still emotionally linked to him. Yoda knew this, or sensed it via the Force, and knew that Obi-Wan had to face Anakin, as bad as the outcome might be.

I always wondered what if both Yoda and Obi-Wan went to fight Darth Sidious together? Would it have had a different outcome or just be the same as when Mace-Windu brought backup. And it's not like Anakin was going anywhere. I think if Obi-Wan had not snuck on the ship Anakin wouldn't have attacked Padme. But that's just my 2¢.

Honestly that's one thing that's always bugged me. Ignoring how much of a crazy about-face it was for Anakin to attack her in the first place, the first thing Obi-wan should have done when he stepped out of that ship was tell Anakin that he snuck aboard BECAUSE she wouldn't tell him where Anakin was but knew she would run to see him out of worry. You can even see when Padmé looks back and sees Obi-wan standing there, you can see the split second of confusion before the panic sets in as she glances back to Anakin, seeing his reaction, she lets out a little "...no..." before he loses it. She clearly knows what it looks like and she can see that Anakin is seeing Obi-wan and thinking she's betrayed him for Obi-wan. . Considering Anakin's stance on loyalty being the most important thing and then having the one person he is most loyal to and who he trusts the most in the galaxy, seemingly turn on him (in conspiracy with his second most loved and loyal companion no less) would have broken his already fragile/conflicted mind and... well... we saw he was so maddened that he attacked Padmé. The thing is, Obi-wan should have know this. He should have known how Anakin would react, he should have known that he'd feel betrayed and he should have been prepared for that. If Obi-wan hadn't been there, they likely would have continued the argument but with a bit of time, it's entirely possible that she could have pulled Anakin back from the delusion he'd created for himself to protect his already guilt-ridden psyche from further pain.

This really comes down to how close in combat dooku and Yoda were in their dual. I know Yoda is stronger but by how much? Obviously both Yoda and Anakin were able to defeat dooku but dooku held his own for a while.

Yoda was superior to Dooku but that doesn't mean he can one shot everybody. Dooku was a renowned duelist in his own right. But Yoda was clearly gaining the upper hand. Hence Dooku covering his escape by trying to crush Anakin and Obi Wan.

I don't think Vader was lucky. It would have been lucky for Vader if Yoda had allowed him to join the cosmic force. Yoda would have ended things quickly, and with minimal suffering for Vader. Obi-Wan gave Vader the cruelest of punishments by allowing him to live in torment.

What if Yoda went to Mustafar to kill Anakin first, then after to Coruscant to confront Darth Sidious? Then even if he would be still defeated, Yoda could still go to exile on Dagobah and we would still have Obi-Wan as well to train Luke. But now Luke would "only" have to face the Emperor who would be busy looking for a new apprentice. Maybe he would consider turning Luke, but we know that he wouldn't turn. Of course that was when his father (Vader) was still alive and he had hoped to save him, but I think Luke still wouldn't turn. Any thoughts?

I think it happened how it needed to. Yoda would have lopped off Vader's limbs like Obi-Wan did, taken his lightsaber, and used The Force to chuck Vader's body parts into the lake. Darth Sidious would have played with Obi-Wan during their duel and tried to goad him into the Dark Side. Knowing Obi-Wan, though, he would have willingly died before switching sides. That would have left the duel between Grandmaster Yoda and Darth Sidious, which I think Yoda would have lost because I believe that the execution of Order 66 and the events of Operation: Knightfall would have left him distracted in the duel against Sidious. The duels had to happen that way so that Luke Skywalker could have someone to teach him.

Obi-Wan didn't overcome Anakin, Anakin quite literally defeated himself and even then Obi-Wan had to use a forbidden move to do so because he knew he was in over his head and it was his only chance to live. Still fucked up leaving Anakin alive, Obi-Wan quite literally failed his way to success every time.

@@leosnyder5264 Obi-wan had no way of knowing that at all. He probably was also holding on to hope that Yoda was going to triumph over Sidious. The only appropriate thing for Obi-wan to do was to put Anakin out of his misery like Mace Windu or Yoda *absolutely* would have done. Instead Obi-wan wanted Anakin to suffer for his sins and left him to burn alive and instead be saved by the emperor anyway. I understand Sidious could have overcome the loss of Vader but it would have thrown a *SERIOUS* wrench in Sidious' plans as he would himself have to do every single solitary thing Vader did in addition to publicly being emperor of the Galaxy. Either that or Star Killer would have to be his Vader if that would even work out if you'd even accept that canon.

Vader was at full power, no ventilation no 500lb suit. It would be stupid close but Yoda would’ve stopped him but I doubt he would’ve killed him, probably imprisoned him in some way and came back like Revan. Obi Wan would’ve been killed super quick by the emperor.

If the duels were switched, Yoda vs Vader and Obi-Wan vs Sidious, I think things wouldn't had turned out as well as some think it would. Chances are quite high that Sidious would go through Kenobi like a hot knife through butter. And while I do think Yoda could of killed Vader, chances are Sidious would of sensed Vader being in danger far sooner than he did in the original timeline. After killing Obi-Wan, Sidious would immediately rush to Mustafar, probably arriving just in the nick of time before Yoda could strike the killing blow to Vader, or possibly just right after he'd killed Vader but be likely too exhausted to put up a fight against a fresh powerful combatant in Sidious. Even if Vader could be killed, he'd at least keep Yoda preoccupied just long enough for Sidious to arrive. Having Yoda duel Sidious in the main timeline works better because he was able to hold back Sidious long enough to not be able to help or assist Vader. Kenobi was more suited to duel Vader than Sidious, because he knew Anakin well enough through years of training him & fighting alongside him to know how he fights. I'd think what happen in such an alternate timeline, is Kenobi be killed quickly by Sidious. (Or at least not as long a fight as Windu was able to.) Yoda & Vader would have a long duel, & after landing a killing blow on Vader, Sidious would arrive before Yoda could attempt an escape with Padmé. For the sake of keeping an even playing field between the light and dark sides, I'd say it end with an exhausted Yoda pulling a self-sacrificing maneuver to take Sidious with him, or after Sidious kill Yoda, a dying Vader would see in his final moments how he had doomed his wife & shortly do something to kill Sidious. Both the Jedi & Sith would be dead, and Padmé probably wouldn't of gotten the medical care in time necessary to deliver the Skywalker twins. It be a darker timeline.

@@robinpage2730 As one time said by this very channel, I do think if Yoda & Obi-Wan would of fought together against either Palpatine or Anakin, they'd likely get in each other's way unfortunately. Especially if it were Palpatine. Sidious previously showed exceptional ability in tactical actions in his fight with the four Jedi that tried to arrest him. He immediately rushed to kill the first two weakest lightsaber duelists Agen Kolar & Saesee Tiin, then Kit Fisto, allowing him to focus on the strongest Mace Windu without getting too worn out from a long fight. They got in each other's way during that skirmish. Chances are if they had adopted a blitzkrieg-style tactic of sending solely in their strongest Jedi, Mace Windu, up against Palpatine to fight him one on one, only allowing another one of themselves to intervene if Windu was in trouble or killed, they potentially could of defeated Sidious by trying to tire him out in a prolonged duel. But getting back to the subject, if Yoda & Obi-Wan also employed the same tactic I mentioned, blitzkrieg-style, sending the strongest of the two in Yoda to fight one on one against Palpatine, only letting Obi-Wan tag in should Yoda have difficulty or get slain, they might have had a chance to beat Palpatine. However chances are Vader, just as Sidious did, would suddenly sense his master in danger & quickly leave to assist him. Anakin after all is desperate to prevent Padmé's death & see's Sidious as the only one who can help him prevent her untimely end. He wouldn't want him killed so long as she continued drawing breath. Palpatine would likely hold off Yoda & Obi-Wan in that scenario just long enough to possibly get backup from Vader. From there, a 2 on 2 fight could of resulted in Yoda & Obi-Wan getting in the way of one another, while a fresh Darth Vader would likely find an opening or create an opening, & then kill one of the two Jedi. Tactically speaking, Yoda made the best & smartest call having Obi-Wan fight Vader, while he dealt with Sidious.

They should have both confronted Anakin, they might have been able to turn him back. If not then they would have been able to capture or kill him. After that they could confront the Emperor together. Possibly by that time they would have been able to get in touch with other Jedi, give orders, gather forces, etc... Their goal was to kill both sith to save the galaxy and teaming up to do a 2 v 1 fight would alert the other to go into hiding or bring in help (troops) for protection which would hinder them from killing the remaining sith left. Yoda knew obi wan helping against sidious was a waste as palps would kill obi wan 1 second in like he did the other 3 masters that came with Mace. Palps had already told the Senate that Jedi tried to kill him and if they 2 v 1 Anakin and killed him then went for palps next it'd only proved his lie true to the galaxy. They wanted the element of surprise also

This only reveals something about Sidious' way of thinking: personal connections are a weakness to overcome or to exploit. Powerful people only seek more power and are willing to kill for it and should not be held back by morality. Sidious is a good schemer, but his insights into other peoples' motivations are sometimes limited (see: his death). So, I would not bet on his predictions in this regard.

No matter the outcome of either dual the damage to the Jedi Sidious inflicted was too much for them to come back from. 90% of the order was already taken out when the duals happened and Sidious already had everyone thinking the Jedi were traitors of the republic so even if Sidious was killed by Yoda it wouldve made the jedi look even more guilty and the purge wouldve still happened. The best case scenario if Sidious was defeated was Yoda and Obi wan finding whats left of the order and exiling themselves to Tython or another Jedi planet no one knew about. Sidious technically wins either way.

Vader and sidious by the og trilogy are completely different level to before. Watch Seth the programmers starwars videos. He is a pro power scaler and has all the official statements on how strong the og trilogy characters are.
