Pete's dumpster diving tip of the day: "Petco never disappoints, most of the time."
@thepicker90796 жыл бұрын
Pete i love knowing someone out in this world loves hunting for items just as much as i do, Even though i make plenty of money online selling items i am still out dumpster diving pretty much every week even if its only for a few minutes. No mater what people think its a great way to find stuff and its free so who could complain. Love the videos Pete i really appreciate your time you put into them. Thanks

I love these dumpster diving vids. In my town its against city ordinance to get in a dumpster. Most of them are locked up anyway! I like to watch Taco Stacks also. Reminds me of the good ole days!!!
@susangarcia62336 жыл бұрын
Lobby against your insane town "ordinance." Dumpster-diving has helped to solve major crimes, such as the Utah Hi Fi Store Murders, when some kids found a handbag and I.D. in a dumpster, which turned out to belong to one of the murder victims. It was the first big break for the police in solving the crime. The second argument is to keep all that stuff out of the town landfill. It's immoral to send usable/recyclable goods to the landfill. Fight it. Don't let the little town tyrants get away with a "rule" like that! It's insane.

The mystery of the TJ Maxx stuff is easily solved - it was behind the LA Fitness Gym. What happened is that someone went in with their gift bag of stuff to work out, left it in their locker and then went home without picking it up. In the morning, LA Fitness empties out any lockers that have stuff in it, because they're not meant for overnight storage. It just so happened that person didn't come back for their stuff in time before it was thrown out.

I remember years ago when I was a teenager we found a dumpster loaded with new merchandise. To make a long story short we found out employees were stealing from store by loading up trash barrels with product and then when they had to go to dumpster as part of their job they would dump stolen goods into dumpster with trash. then come back to dumpster when store was closed and load up the stolen goods...

I’ve worked plenty of places where the vendors would have to throw away outdated merch. They could not give it away, some tax reasons or whatever. Usually they cut the tag or sharpied an x over the package and left it by the dumpster. They technically couldn’t give it to employees but that didn’t stop us from “helping” take the trash out... to our cars, haha.

That sled was a great, amazing find! It's unbelievable what these stores throw away. Imagine that sled being buried in the town landfill, for no reason other than a store employee's laziness and lack of concern for the environment and recycling. It would have been still useful even for parts or even re-purposing! It's crazy to throw all this stuff away. Only in the USA. Personally I would pick up those nails, too, and all screws/hardware. Put them in a bulk bin and use them in the shop, too, rather than buying nails.

Lesson to all other resellers here should be that if you bust your tail like *Mr. Craigslist Hunter* does & I mean this with all due respect to him, then you yourselves can find a lot of the same kind of goodies that he does, as well. Btw, I hope that those Lucky Brand jeans might have fit you, my friend. Because from someone who already owns a pair, they really are top notch quality. And not to mention, comfortable as all get up, as well. Cheers !!!

Here is my theory on the TJ Maxx clothes: A guy that is cheating on his wife/girlfriend received those clothes from his mistress as a gift, and he knew that he couldn't bring them home because he knew that his wife/girlfriend would know that he didn't buy them himself due to his normal style choices....especially the exotic underwear AND that they were in a GIFT BAG. So he threw them out on his way home.

Thanks Pete! That was so much fun and I really love your dumpster diving videos. You found some good stuff. Especially the sled looks really cool. Definitely money to be made on your finds. Sad you forgot the fishing rod, but that happens. Think the clothing were a gift to someone and he didn't like it or couldn't bring it home. Maybe a guy cheating on his wife, got this from his affair and didn't want it to be found by his wife. Would be sad, but really looks like this could be the reason. Definitely a gift because of the gift bag. Good you found them. Hope you do more dumpster diving videos in the future. It's always fun and entertaining. :)

The tags are cut so they cannot be returned or resold. You're lucky that's all that was cut. I used to work for a major high end retailer years ago and we were not allowed to donate or throw out anything good. We had to actually cut into and destroy the item so it could not be reused. It was a shame. The manufacturer would give a full credit on destroyed items and only a partial on donated.
@thedeafgenius6 жыл бұрын
I understand why some of them lock their garbage bins but at the same time, its silly because when people come and dumpster dive, they are saving the store money since the stores do have to pay for the use of garbage bins plus garbage removal.
@thedeafgenius6 жыл бұрын
But I guess this point was moot since the garbage removal is preset and they have pay either way.
@Spacetime2156 жыл бұрын

The number one argument is that dumpster-diving is VALUABLE for solving crimes, as in the Utah Hi Fi Store Murders. Some kids found a handbag and I.D. that belonged to one of the victims, which helped solve the crime. It should be encouraged. Even the homeless have found BODIES in dumpsters. It's important to find criminal evidence BEFORE it gets packed down in the landfill. The second argument is to keep all of these useful goods OUT of the landfill! That's important. The stores and slimy politicians have no argument that will over-ride these two benefits of dumpster-diving. It should be legal and encouraged nation-wide!

Are there any dumpsters that you consistently find bubble wrap in?
@happyhandylife41016 жыл бұрын
CVS, Bealls Outlet, and Pier One are places I reliably find bubble wrap. CVS in particular throws out some really nice big-bubble bubble wrap regularly.
@deztroyer766 жыл бұрын
HappyHandyLife My CVS’s keep their dumpsters locked. Never heard of Bealls. I try Pier One.
@happyhandylife41016 жыл бұрын
Bealls is everywhere in FL, but maybe not in other areas? Also, Ulta throws out a lot of bubble wrap, but sometimes there is makeup and hair stuff on it because they open up their bottles before they trash them. If you can find it on a day when they don't dump other products it's really nice bubble wrap and there is usually a lot of it.

HappyHandyLife yep, Ulta has been my main source, very hit and miss, but I need to find some others. Maybe furniture stores.
