Great vid, Chris. As usual. I'd like to see you guys' thoughts on what a new homeowner should have checked wrt an existing well. Por ejemplo: I bought my place when it was around 26 years old. Has a 238' well which is original and puts out an adequate amount of water running through a GE whole house filter and water softener, unless I open the garden hose spigot which is not filtered. Then I can trip the pressure switch in about 1-2 minutes. I accept that as normal. When we first moved in I had the guy who installed it come up to have a look just to see if there was any maintenance or service I should attend to, assuming he would have at least a mental checklist he could go through. I told him I'd be willing to pay to have him pull it for inspection if he felt needed. After 15 minutes of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it', and other general ass-scratching, I accepted his implication that I was a dolt for even asking and sent him away. Ten years on now and it still seems to be working ok, but what do I know? So the question I have is: is there a specific list of things I can do, or have done by an "expert", to have some confidence my well and pump are performing optimally?

I’m thinking of buying a house that has a drilled well. In the description of the house listing, it reads that the well is only 55 feet deep. This feels like a “red flag” to me, but I wanted to pose the question here, to see what you guys think. Or anyone else here in the comments forum. The house is 36 years old (as of 2021). Everything else about it seems pretty good, but this was my main concern.

What is the recovery rate? It could be that they hit a good supply of water @ less than 50' so if you can get a copy of the well report you can verify this.

@@RCworstwater I’m not sure, but I can ask about that. One of my biggest concerns was the (possible) soil contamination at that depth? I thought there was more chance of pathogens in the water, at shallower depths. I have heard that is quite an issue with “dug wells”. Thank you for you response. Your channel is really great, and it’s helped me a lot. You’ve been able to save me money, and get me out of jams, a few times. Your information is top notch!!!
