Had a couple of comments reporting issues with sound. Not seeing it on my end, watching here in US. If you hear something that seems wrong, please let me know the timecode and what part of the world you're watching from. Thanks so much!

Matt, Two things... 1) You proved to us all that replacing an instrument through hull while in the water is really no big deal. And 2) Sometime luck is on your side. The "used" or "laying around" instruments all worked with little to no effort. I'm kind of in the same need for some instruments on my sailboat and hope to have the same luck when I spend this upcoming weekend on my sailboat for the 1st time while it is in the water.

Best of luck Mike! Hope you have success with your own instruments!

What a great episode Matt! I was nervous for you when you pulled out the bung from the hole 🤣. Glad the speed transducer worked on the first try.
@OffshoreEsprit7 ай бұрын
Yeah, it's terrifying pulling the bung out of the hole and knowing you just put a hole directly into the boat... CRAZY.

Yeah, "I wanna try this!" 🍻

"Do or do not. There is no try...." I think Yoda owned an old boat in his day.

First time ive heard anyone mention an external hull flap 👍🏼 though i would imagine they would be somewhat fragile. The other way ive seen fittings changed is to careen a boat over on its side whilst still in the water .. James from Sailing Tritaia.. did it you need a strong mast and a solid point to attach a block and tackle system to.

Yeah, I thought about that Clive, but since the transducer is close to the center line, I would have really had to crank the boat to one side to get to it, so I opted to just do it in place. I can imagine that would be better option to replace a thru-hull that is located closer to the water line.

Re your comment about just getting out there and actually sailing brings to mind a saying I've heard in the past... : if you want to learn how to sail, go sailing. WHICH IS WHAT I DID. Solo. Cheers, from Sydney Harbour Australia 😏🍻🇦🇺

I couldn't agree more. There is no better way to learn something than by doing it.

@@OffshoreEsprit yep! I was mightly impressed with you tackling the diesel fuel system on the last episode, as you are now well aware, you can't beat the satisfaction of doing it yourself 😉😏😊😊. Trust me, I decided to change the ancient filter on my Delphi water separator... Quick job NOT! 6 hours later lol, I'm now an expert on filters, fuel lines and bleeding diesel systems. But happy. What a job, I thought maybe 1 hour LMAO. I've also just changed ALL the coolant hoses on my Yanmar 1gm10 and now overhauling everything on the engine. Learning how to on my own. Like you. It's very rewarding in the end but sometimes exhausting & demoralising experience getting to that end. The important thing is you become self sufficient, Not bragging but hoping someone who watches your vids will also read this and do the same. Cheers, Mark.

Thanks for the videos! Audio was off on your narration on this one

Thanks for the feedback. So strange... just re-watched (here is the US) and there are no issues with sound. We see captions, etc. At a loss, wondering if maybe this is a regional thing? Where are you at?

@@OffshoreEsprit we're in Washington State, I'm on an Android device in the KZbin app. Just went and watched again. The audio you recorded looking at the camera is dropped, as well as any time that track is used as narration. All of the other action footage stuff is ok. Weird it would play ok for some and not others. Sounds like a KZbin issue, but maybe easiest to reupload.

Hey Tom ~ so strange. I just re-watched here in US and didn't hear any problems with the sound. Wondering if maybe it's a regional issue? Where are you at?
