You can never have enough boats!been working on my boat for three years, when weather and time allow… my son has said for awhile, we should just buy a boat to sail while we finish this one.. best wishes! Like your new boat

I suspect having a 9-5 job is the only thing keeping me me from having the time to try and 'adopt' more old boats that need some love...

Congrats on the new boat! The name is perfect.

I have sailed on an Islander 40, excellent choice, well designed and solid build. The more amenities, comfort, ease of use and upgrades on a boat the better. Perhaps having the main halyard lead aft would be good, keep you off the deck completely. I liked the boat instantly when I saw the 1 can of Coors beer in the fridge. Love the name and congratulations. Best wishes for Gillians recovery.
@OffshoreEspritАй бұрын
Yep, I've been thinking that running the main halyward aft makes sense too. Thanks for the well wishes!

Thank you 🥹 - and one day we’ll crack that Coors open for you! 😂

You got that right!

Nicely done😁. More logic than emotion in the decision for a ready-to-go boat, looks like you’re ready for adventure. The chronic illness thing is a long game sort of thing IMO, very important to play the short game wisely as you have ❤️

Thanks for the kind words Robert.

Yup know what you mean about the medical thing, my wife just finished her last treatment for cancer (radiation/chemo) prognoses is excellent. But she also has a couple other issues so right now I am in the middle of setting my boat up for single handling from the cockpit. No worries just don’t give up 😎
@OffshoreEspritАй бұрын
Hey Rob ~ Glad to hear that your wife is on the mend and is beating back the big C! Even if the path forward may be windy and twisty, doesn't mean we can't still still keep moving forward, we just have to be a bit more clever and determined. Keep up the fight! Sending good vibes your way.
@SeaGillianАй бұрын
Sending warm winds Mrs. Rob’s way! ❤ and much love to our men who single hand the waves while we battle our own fights

Congratulations, I am a big proponent of getting out and sailing. So many buy these fixer uppers and never see the ocean. The Islander 40 is a solid boat and appears to have been kept up. My boat neighbor has sailed his I36 back and forth to Hawaii 3 times and again is preparing for another summer passage.
@OffshoreEspritАй бұрын
Wow - back and forth to Hawaii 3 times... That's inspiration.

Matt and Gillian, Congratulations on Kona Blue! When I first subscribe to your channel about a year ago, I told you that you were about six months ahead of me in the boat ownership program. I found it interesting how your top three boxes are the exact same as mine after spending only one summer aboard my sailboat I want a roller furling Jib, self tailing winches, and an auto pilot. I have two questions before next weeks vote tour episode First, what’s with the single can of Coors light in the refrigerator? And two what’s the definition of “Baller”?
@SeaGillianАй бұрын
😂 omg that single can of Coors! I can hear the last owners getting a chuckle if they see this- they cleaned out the boat wonderfully, so I’m sure that gift was intentional 😂 we may have to make that can our version of Captain Q’s Dinty Moore!
@OffshoreEspritАй бұрын
Glad to hear that we're thinking along the same lines. We've laughed about that solitary beer can too... Don't know why it's there, but it was cold and frosty, so maybe it was just to demonstrate the excellent state of the fridge. LOL. As for baller: ball·er - /ˈbôlər/ - adjective informal•US - extremely good or impressive; excellent. "this place is baller!"
@michaelstephan1289Ай бұрын
@@SeaGillian I was thinking the same thing. That Coors Light is OE's Dinty Moore!
@michaelstephan1289Ай бұрын
@@OffshoreEsprit I figured it meant "good or great" since your Boat #2 is so very nice. When I looked it up in the Urban Dictionary, this is what I found, "Originally referred to as Ball Players that made it out of the streets to earn millions playing professional ball". I'm really excited for you two and to see the new Kona Blue next week. It'll also be fun to see another romantic take on Lee Hawk. I think my favorite upgrade was the Gold Flaked Turned Stern Sign

Well done 😂 🧙🏼♂️🇬🇧 Having had and gone through cancer surgery then got Epstine Barr virus, Glandular fever so i know how it feels ... Long covid before covid which i also had the joy of.. so yup its slow. Theres a genius young British rap artist REN ..who ended up in all sorts of problems till they realised he had an immune response disease. Probably triggered by lymes disease from a deer tick bite as a child.
@OffshoreEspritАй бұрын
Love that REN story. He's an incredible talent. And congrats on beating back the big C! Long term illnesses can be real buzz kill, but Gillian is super resilient and we're looking forward to future adventures.

Ugh @clivestainlesssteelwomble7665 sorry you’ve gone through the wringer as well! Really makes us shine the bright light on the things we aren’t held back from. To many more ⛵️adventures, we hope!
