here's an idea; during the epilogue, Sadie mentions that John and his family had gone to the Yukon after the events of 1899, which I find is so fascinating given the history of the region in that era with the Klondike gold rush and the stampedes of cruise ships and railroad expansions in Alaska and Yukon. Just imagine the potential that such a setting could provide, with gold rush towns and settlements, Alaskan coastal ports, and beautiful Canadian and US subarctic landscapes. The story telling potential could be great too with completely original characters aside from John, Abigail and Jack and maybe an appearance from Trelawny or something. Could also introduce a seasons mechanic with harsh winters and beautiful summers. I truly think there is a lot of potential in making a sequel to RDR2 and a prequel to RDR1 in this time in John Marston's life that we only know about through a few throw away lines by Sadie and Charles.

While this is a beautiful idea, I don't wanna play as John. I mean, the title is Red Dead Redemption. Because the protagonist ends up dying having redeemed themselves. If we play as John without dying, it wouldn't feel right. But that's just me. 🤗

I think a good idea for RDR3 is to follow the life’s of Mac and Davey Calendar. You could switch between the two characters and each will have a unique dead eye ability. It will be set in the far west but to the south you can enter into New Austin. Somewhere in the middle of the game it will show how the two joined the Van Der linde gang. You would do missions for Dutch with young John and author. During the end of the game it would show how Mac was taken and killed by the Pinkerton. and then the game would end with Davey’s death at the black water massacre.

I think RDR3 should be a prequel set in the 1870s/80s about the rise of Dutch's gang, but from the perspective of a new character who's not a member of the gang but a strong ally. He runs with a different bunch that's a typical ruthless Wild West gang (O'Driscolls), until he comes across Dutch. Seeing his Robin-Hood ideals and how he treats everyone fairly, he's inspired to become a better person. This leads us to start helping the Van der Linde gang, become an early unofficial member and friend while we see a young, honorable Dutch who helps the poor grows his gang over the years. But as the story goes on and gets darker, it also hints at his darker side that we saw surface in RDR2. This causes an internal dilemma for the protagonist between sticking to his gang or the only people that treated him like family and showed him a better way. The Epilogue we'll play as an older, more bitter Dutch in the days leading to the Blackwater robbery.

I actually wouldn’t mind doing another prequel, it could be the first video game trilogy (that I can think of) that does it’s story in a reversed order. Theirs a lot of potential in the story before The Blackwater Massacre too, like Arthur relationship with Eliza, his son Isaac & Mary. Dutch’s relationship with Annabelle , the lead up to the gang feud with Colm and the O’Driscoll boys. The story of the “cruel” twins Davey & Mac Callander. The big score Arthur & Hosea had set up before being forced to go on the run. It could also help build the back story of some characters that I thought were lacking abit like Sean, Reverend Swanson & Molly. Plus seeing the girls (Karen, Tilly & Mary-Beth) in more action would be great. I wouldn’t complain with more Javier on the guitar too. They could have us play as a new side character that wasn’t in the gang but assisted them, or play as either Mac and/or Davey. Or have us play as a young Dutch. Dutch is promising because it can give players the choice of when in the story he begins to show cracks with the in-game decisions made. My only issue is as a IRL hunter, I love hunting in the game and hunting is something I don’t see Dutch doing 😂

I am actually intrigued by the thought of a Jack Marston 1920s mafia game, it could just be titled "Red Dead" and would conclude the van der Linde story, as I would also like a RDR1 remaster and maybe a game about the formation of the gang. You know what I really want for RDR3 (or 4 or 5 idc)? To play as Charles up in Canada. Maybe one or two big settlements, a bunch of small settlements and villages, a lot of Canadian wilderness, oppressed indigenous people, corrupt politicians and the law, and the corrupt church (after hearing about recently undiscovered mass children burials. The Marieval Indian Residential School was operated by the Roman Catholic Church from 1899 to the 1980s, literally at the time Charles moved up to Canada), a fight for the "frozen frontier". He was always a sensible character, and while he isn't "wholly good", being part of an outlaw gang, he has what it takes to do something bad for the greater good which is perfect for an anti-hero character, even more so than Arthur when he became more sensible after finding out he was dying. Watching Charles go from being a level-headed side character to an awesome anti-hero, questioning his own faith and morals, wanting to go straight but being begged to help so he can't sit and do nothing, so he ends up putting together a rag-tag group of outlaws like himself who will fight the good fight, vigilante-style. Now that's some real sh**. The story goes from 1907 when he leaves John, to 1914 when WW1 breaks out. You can fill in the gaps but at the end of the game, after years of somewhat successful fight against the church and state, Charles is caught and is given an ultimatum. Either he will get the death sentence for treason, murder, etc. Or, he can volunteer to go to serve in the military for a reduced sentence (not a death sentence). At this point, Charles has a wife (who is indigenous, part of the reason for his fight) and a small baby girl. He will do anything to get back to his family so he accepts the deal. He gets sent to Europe, and the game ends with a big frontal assault, where Charles gets fatally wounded. As he falls to the ground, allied soldiers are running past him, no one cares or even notices that he has fallen among the death and chaos of the battle. He looks around to see the total destruction of human lives for a few seconds, looks at the sunrise, then pulls the picture of his family from his pocket to look at them one final time before passing away. He dies in a foreign land, away from his family and friends. After the battle, they bury his body in an unmarked grave, next to hundreds of other unmarked graves during a truce. The end. It will probably never happen, but one can dream.

Idea 1: Play as Mac Calendar in the prime of the gang. 1870s- 1890s and the story would take a different path and there would be some time jumps until they reach the final mission playing as Mac on the ferry raid in Blackwater. Or maybe that’s just the epilogue type shi for RDR3 and have no time jumps. I have no idea who you would play as after the game concludes maybe some unmentioned gang member or even Mac which jumped back from his death in 1899 as part of the epilogue and hopefully before the events of Blackwater in maybe the 70s so the map wouldn’t be a copy and paste. Maybe have a main portion of the map be large extensions from new Austin and other parts of America mentioned in rdr2. And if possible have the whole rdr2 map playable (might be reaching there)Idea 2: If it was to be a mafia game I wouldn’t want it to be under the RD name and to be something different and maybe have jack as a side character to interact with at most. But you could be a mafia ring leader and it would be about turf wars and fueds set in around the 1920s. There would be references to the van der linde gang and maybe this is a reach but a main plot point to this game would be fighting over the Blackwater money. And I would want Blackwater to be more of a north yankton kind of thing from GTA V and not to be part of the main map. Or maybe just a part of the map you go to at some point in the story and you could switch to a portion of the rdr2 map Blackwater and such in free roam. But I want it to mostly be set away from RDR. As I right this I want this to happen just as much as idea 1.

A pattern I noticed is that in both RDR games the main character dies at the end. So Davey could be a possible character. I believe that we should not focus on the the story we have already and should build on to what they said earlier in the video and it should be set in the 1870s or 1880s. I have been thinking about this for a while now and I think it should be about a former civil war soldier (the first mission could be the main character in the war like in Virginia and would be where the game teaches you how to play the game) trying to find his friend who he fought alongside with and maybe you could start becoming a famous gunslinger with your friend and slowly build up your gang but these are just a few ideas

The first few missions would be around Va, Tn, Nc area and would probably cut to like 3 or so years later and the main character is probably working on the trans-continental railroad when he receives a telegram from his friend who wants to meet him out west so the main character takes a stage to an area like Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon area and together they would start committing petty crimes and then they would start doing bigger crimes and become legends and would have a gang building aspect and maybe power would go to the MCs head and the friend would betray them and you have to kill them in the end of the game and become an unstoppable force to be reckoned with.

They should make a story about Dutch's life and how he became a lost soul in the wild west . He said that he had ran off when his father was killed in the war . He probably was heartbroken and that's why he got obssesed with Uncle Sam . Sure , he tried to not care about it but deep down , he really cared about his father . When he said payback for his daddy , I knew he was serious about it and his theme probably can show how a person can become a ruthless killer because of politics and the army . Dutch was born in the wrong time and he was too fragile for the wild west. In his mind , nobody cared about him except his father and that's why he shut himself . He wasn't born evil so something changed him .

Gives us new characters and see Arthur’s childhood in the epilogue we play as Arthur learning how to read, write , and shoot while he is being taught by Dutch and Hosea. Rdr3 should in my opinion either be from the odriscoll's point of view so you can see how attachment to the "good guy" is only attachment to your leader. Or jack meets up with Charles, and Sadie and reform the remnants of dutchs gang to fight in ww1 after he deserts his post, but they fight for whatever country they each think is right, this eventually leads to a dbh style conflict where they fight for what they think is right, I know that might be too fanfictiony

One of Colm's O'Driscolls right hand men is the same as my idea, maybe it could be even his brother or an unnamed enforcer mirroring Arthur in RDR2. I imagine him coming across Dutch's gang at some point in the story and inspired by his ideals, becomes a close ally of the gang allowing us to do missions for them. This sets a crisis of loyalty as he has to choose between his original gang or the one that showed him a better way. Perhaps at the end Dutch discovers this and thinking he was a double agent, kills him and this can be the "traitor" Arthur talked about.

I would personally prefer a game with Mac Callander as the protagonist. His appearance is unknown, and RDR2 left just enough info on him to have his personality and honor be ambiguous. In my opinion, I think the story should involve him fleeing further north and west in opposite direction of the gang in 1899, after finding his brother's grave in Colter, effectively abandoning them. He would then lie low for a number of years, spiraling into depression after his brother's death, pretty much becoming a hermit. The game's main themes would be revenge and survivor's guilt, both from him feeling guilty for abandoning his family in the gang, and from him surviving instead of his brother. It would preferably pick up somewhere between 1899 and 1907, where he gets a lead or something happens that makes him decide to seek revenge for his brother. The game would start off with him in an incredibly dark place, only looking for revenge, but opening up to companions and other people that he meets along his journey to avenge his brother. Now, he could either stay in that state or redeem himself by choosing to save his friends instead of taking revenge in the end, or something to that effect. We already have mention of North Elizabeth as a state, so that's one of the reasons I want northern regions to be a focus in the game, along with me just wanting an actual fully explorable "west". Parts of Canada would be cool too, since we've already explored as far down south as Mexico, and to the east as well. I don't know, these are just my personal, highly subjective wishes. I also don't mind the game not taking place during the apex of the wild west, because I kind of think the whole point of these games is to say that the west never really was that special or cool, and to show the downfall and deconstruction of that supposedly "legendary" time period.

My ideal red dead game would be Red Dead Revival: Prologue where Jack is drafted into world war 1 and ends up deserting the army to try and go back home towards the end of the war. He escapes but is highly wanted by the government and ends up in Chicago to try and hide, and eventually creates a gang of his own, thus “reviving” (kind of) the gang he was a part of. Then it would continue into the 20s and there would be villains based off of people like Al Capone and fbi agents

Jack Marston coming home from the trenches? Have you guys ever seen Boardwalk Empire? I've only watched a few episodes but there is a character introduced who is similar to how you guys described Jack there, a guy who was once a good kid but has seen and done terrible things in the war, experienced awful conditions, and is abruptly emotionally despondent to those around him, and angry. An intro seeing Jack either getting wounded, getting lucky, and getting discharged, or Jack returning home after getting discharged for some kind of act of heroism, I think would be amazing, you could mirror John's intro from RDR1 with Jack on a train, listening to metropolitan people discussing contemporary events and conditions, as Jack rides potentially North from the areas we know, to a place like Philadelphia, Baltimore, Providence, Buffalo, Detroit, or Chicago, as mentioned, (albeit a fictionalized version, of course) as he contemplates what he has seen and done. As a cherry on top, we get it hammered home to us that, like many of us like to talk about, despite the efforts of John, and Arthur as well, Jack is caught in the revolving cycle of violence and gets involved in organized crime, the time skip potentially involving prohibition, Jack running his own "crew", and getting gunned down over it. I think that it should show Arthur being “adopted” and then it could jump forward in time like gta v and show the gang getting together and eventually get to the black water massacre. But here’s the kicker. It actually has the exact events of rdr1 and 2, just graphically remastered, and instead of it going to the epilogue after Arthur’s death, it goes into something like “part 2, chapter 1 where it has the rdr2 epilogue and then a transition period into rdr1, and then there’s a part three with the rdr1 epilogue, you play as Jack a bit, but then Jack gets drafted for WWI but then while he’s on the front lines he finds in Arthur’s journal, which his dad gave him, something about Sadie Adler, and he writes her a letter, asking about his dad and Arthur, and you follow the letter to Sadie, where you start playing as her and start a more modern gang/mafia kind of thing with Charles, and then when Jack returns from overseas he joins, and it continues as swapping between the three of them from there. It would be a huge game probably several hundred gbs and take forever to play through but I think it genuinely would be the best game ever, and you could have more modern weapons and cars, and it would just be really good

RDR3 is this, play as an unspecified gang member, takes place in the years leading up to the ferry heist and at the ferry heist primarily in the western USA, Oklahoma west texas, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, real Mexico some shit goes south, you get on Landon rickets bad side, there’s a cat and mouse game there. you meet many of the gunslingers from the cards, the gang attempts to rob the ferry, we see Landon go crazy and thwart they’re plan, our character either dies or something else and we now play as Landon Rickey’s in the epilogue, (most likely is a cal lander brother or something)

There's a lot of good ideas in your video guys and I'm agree with a lot of things. To be honest, I have a lot of ideas for RDR3, about a possible main storyline (some can work with each other but they are all different and can work independantly as well) : - A game could be done about Charles and his native american background, what happened to him before meeting Dutch, and after finding back John when he leave the ranch. - A character that I would highly appreciate to have as well, would be Hamish Sinclair, he sounded like an amazing guy and his life, the participation in the civil war and all about his life sounded great and very interesting. - I would like a game about a totally new gang and a new character, a fresh start would be amazing, but with some little links or appearances of the Dutch's gang in a few cameos. Actually a very cool idea would be to have a totally new character and gang, but something more or less like 30 years before RDR2, and being able to see that Dutch is actually a very young guy in another gang, and with a very charismatic leader that he would had a big influence from and to see his development and to make the link between RDR3 and RDR2 so we would understand where Dutch came from and how he was the way he was. And then seeing Dutch going his own way and for us, as our character, going a different way. It would be sweet to know all the path that waits for the Dutch young guy who is going to become the leader of the Dutch's gang, it would complete the story. - It would be amazing and I would prefer much more, a game that is way before in history, like 5O to 100 years before even maybe more, in the very beginning of the wild west. Actually a really good move and big twist for Rockstar, would be at the total opposite of the western spectrum, going from early 1910 to like 1700. So you can see very early settings of the wild west, more like "The Revenant" period, with rifles that would date from the American Revolution etc.... That would surprise everybody and it would be a great period to explore. - I t would be amazing to explore a character that is native american, with something similar to Assassin's Creed 3, seeing a native american with his tribe, slowly entering in contact with the first "western" americans, and slowly going on his journey. And in general the appearance of the native americans in RDR1 & 2 is very small and a lot of people are craving to see more about them. - It would be fantastic to see something more with a "frontier" atmosphere, more North, maybe around the Canadian frontier. And to see more things about trappers, hunters, surviving for a long time in the wild and without seeing civilization for days or weeks. - It would be actually incredible to do something during the civil war, with Lincoln and everything around, and to be part of the war as a soldier during a part of the game. That would be mind blowing. Anything that could take part in major events would be something that would bring RDR games to the next level if it's well done. - It would be incredible if we could participate in a long term travel from East to West with some settlers, like in the Yellowstone 1883 series for example. I like the idea of a group doing a long journey like Metro Exodus on a train for example, it's giving a different feeling than being in a camp. - I would like to see a story about someone less "special" at the beginning. Because it's always about outlaws or very exceptionnal individuals compare to the rest of society. But beginning with someone more "random" and slowly acquiring skills and power over the years would be much more realistic. For example, having a soldier from civil war who has his farm burnt and he just need to move on alone or something like that. About features for the game : - As a big fan of survival games, it's a shame that RDR games have not explore that much so far. You can eat, drink, put warm clothes for winter and details like that, but there's so much more to explore. The same way you can inspect your weapon and clean it, I would like to explore my legs and body to see if I have scratch or injuries. I would to inspect objects and having to repair them. I would like to have an actual big difficulty about being cold, or being thirsty, like in the Long Dark. I would like more long term injuries, like if I take a bullet in the leg, I would have a big handicap for a few days or few weeks in the game. I would like to be able to craft some stuff, craft a basic knife, craft my own bow, etc... More realism about survival skills and needs would be amazing. - More management options about the camp would be highly appreciated. So far in RDR2, you can just to basic tasks, you can interact with NPCS and defend the camp with your gun, that's pretty much it. It would be incredible to actually gather ressources, cut trees, deciding to build some defences or even some houses, to actually personalize a lot the camp, not just with skins or decoration, but with actual things that would change the comfort and the level of the camp. People who plays games like Medieval Dynasty, with a total freedom of how you manage your village, know what I'm talking about. - Sending people of your group to do things for you would be nice too, sending someone to hunt, to gather medicinal stuff, to go bounty hunting, or any other interesting thing that you could do yourself but that you would prefer to give as a task to a NPC. - I would like to see more big cities like Boston, New York or something like that. I would like to see a more big gap between the wild and the city. In RDR2 you can be in the middle of the desert or in the mountains, and then in just a few minutes you can come in a city, like Saint Denis, but the city feels very "western" in a sense that the city is not really developed, is not really that big, and the wild always feels like it's just at the gates of the city. For me Saint Denis felt like a "medium size" city, and I would like to see a big city like Chicago, Boston or New York, like something actually big. And the actual distances between the wild and the city should be bigger. When I go to the wild, I don't want to feel that a city is just 5 minutes away. I want to feel like it's 2 different worlds. - I would like to explore bigger maps, but I mean... really bigger maps. For me I should be able to stay in a "biome", like winter/cold biome, should take a whole map size of RDR2. And then a desert area should be a RDR2 size map etc... Like actually big biomes that feels like there's some distance and not just a 5 minutes ride between super hot Mexico and super cold Canada, that breaks immersion for me. A little note too, I think Rockstar have done everything they wanted around Arthur & John, we know basically the whole life and death of the 2 characters, except they're youth but... I'm not sure it would be that interesting to make a whole game just about the young Arthur, it could sound great of the beginning but actually, not that much. I think Rockstar is probably to do something very different for the next game but it will possibly be connected in some ways to the characters we already know.... or maybe not.

I would also love for the next game to lean in further and more importantly, commit more to the survival elements. In RDR2, food, wear weather approptiate outfits and sleep are things you can and they refill your cores but don't much besides that. They should go all the way in and have more major consequences for neglecting these aspects but not scaling the needs to real-life amounts where it feels like a chore and not an immersive survival experience. That would give a bigger reason for people to interact with these survival elements.

Like it's slightly immersion breaking to go into the snowy mountains wearing a light union shirt and get warned by the game that you're not wearing appropriate clothing only to be just fine except your cores are depleted faster which can be easily refilled with the hundreds of tonics and foodstuff. There are mods that add what I'm talking about to RDR2 and it fits perfectly. Not eating after an in-game while causes us to starve to death, if we push ourselves when our stamina core is empty we'll eventually fall unconscious from exhaustion, when your health bar is at critical condition during a shootout will cause Arthur to start clutching his sides and walk slower, etc... all these should be in the next Red Dead imo.

One of my ideas is playing as Dutch during the expansion of the gang and ends with the black water massacre and find out more about why Dutch chose Micah you get to do the customization like you talked about or we play as jack in the end of ww1 for chapter 1 almost like chapter 1 in rdr2 where there’s limited open world but after you play as jack and he moves to a crime city and ends up getting involved with the mafia and there’s tragedy but jack ends up getting out and becoming an author and writes about the Vanderlinde gang because in GTA you can find two books labeled red dead and written by J. Marston. But another idea could be a rdr2 undead nightmare where you play as a Dutch that goes insane and is haunted by Arthur. Maybe even John in the gold rush and why he moved back we can also see the effects of Arthur’s death on John and the death of John’s rumored daughter. One more idea is Arthur before Rdr 2 and the death of his son

After playing RDR2 I have come up with a theory. For RDR3, I think we will play as Mac. The story will be set before the blackwater ferry job, and we will eventually go through the stages and reach the ferry heist. Obviously we know this heist goes bad for the gang, and we also know that Dutch has a bad side to him which we have seen multiple times (leaving Arthur to nearly die by that guy with the knife)So when the heist goes pair shaped, as they are escaping, in the heat of the moment, Dutch sacrifices Mac. In the fishing mission with Jack, Milton said he was shot up already, so could one of them bullets be from Dutch. Maybe Mac was onto Dutch??

Officially the old west died in 1921 but slowed down and appeared dead between 1914-1919. We could have jack navigating the aftermath of what the game calls the death of the old west. I think this would be a waste considering we’ve already done this with rdr1. Maybe you’re right, I think around the time of Hosea and Dutch when they were younger might be the way to go.

I’ve always thought about how they could use uncle. Yes he becomes pathetic, but maybe he was once this incredible gunslinger in the mid 1800s. Give the story about him being a union officer and he becomes a forgotten war hero after a major catastrophe. We could play as him before during and after the war and maybe after, we see him move west to start fresh but gangs and outlaws run free. We could see the different gangs and people he encountered and maybe eventually he meets Hosea or something and the very start of the vanderlin gang.

RDR1-is about killing off the remaining gang members. RDR2-is about the gang breaking up. Tbh would love RDR3 to be about how the gang gets together then ending the whole 3 game series with the mission that is talked none stop in both games, what a way to end this storyline with John Dutch and now Arthur.

I hope RD3 is a prequel set around the start of Dutch's Gang, but not heavily focussed around them. It could be focussed on the Callander Boys (who from what i have read, didnt join until quite late, It could have Davey as the main character learning that being a ruthless killer isnt how he should live (low honour), but before he gets a chance to truly change, he gets shot and killed in the Blackwater Massacre. Only him and his brother being known as killers no better than the likes of Arthur or Micah, there could be a high honour ending too with Davey doubting dutch after killing Heidi under the influence of Micah, and instead of dying in a shootout, dies trying to escape blackwater to stop himself from hurting anyone else. In both endings he would still be seen as a violent killer but in the high honour ending the player would be aware that unlike arthur, The Callander Brothers never got a chance to change his ways.

I think the Redemption arch is already done and the Van Der Linde gang story is alteady told. We need something brand new, a new subseries in the Red Dead franchise. I would like to see something totally different, like a game set during the American Revolution. Sure, that would be very hard to adapt to modern gameplay but, if somebody can do it, that is Rockstar Games. A Red Dead Revolution set during the American Revolution in the East Coast would be awesome, a fresh approach to the series that would go the opposite way of what everyone is thinking.

My idea is, what about a red dead redemption 3 set at the end of the civil war, and then the rebuild of civilization, or like just a red dead 3 of the begging of the civil war and you play as 3 different characters and you switch between them like in gta, and you can customise your outfits and guns, and get hair cuts and stuff like that and you do different stuff and you get told to go camp out at different places or you and your friends get fired from the war for stealing so your on the run and have to change camps or something like that

The only tie in I really want to see is the mystery behind the ferry job. In RDR1, we are giving hints of it, not to mention the mystery man. The. In RDR2, we are starting immediately after it. And the mystery is still not fully told, but it sparks the "birth" of the mystery man being tied to John. Tbh I don’t think there should be prequel after prequel after prequel. I’d like a story set in the late 1910s early 1920s. It could be a game that ties up RDR1 and RDR2 plot holes together, it could have more modern tech like automatic weapons (M1911s and BARs) rivalling the traditional (repeaters and revolvers that were still popular). Maybe even a drivable car that has the benefit of not taking damage like a horse but still have a disadvantage that 1920s cars would have that could make horses preferable. Maybe make Jack a WWI vet that has occasional PTSD flashback missions in France. Have part of RDR2s map with Saint Denis and Blackwater but also have newer parts. Hell RDR3 would probably come out on the next generation after PS5 and Xbox X|S so the hardware probably could afford to have a massively expanded RDR2 map. I mean there’s beautiful mountains and swamp beyond the map boundaries, having a world there might be interesting.

I'd likes to see a rdr2 taking place in western Canada between manitoba, Saskatchewan And Alberta. You have the rockies to the west, the Hudson Bay lowlands to the east and northeast, and the sticks to the north. You could even include a bit of lake superior and introduce a very harsh weather system (as mentioned in the top comment), I know they'd have to change the characters, and that the chances of this happening is 0, but it's atleast a thought.
