Not a sale, but I was getting my CC permit. The lady behind the counter was arguing with a guy over the phone who hung up on her. She loudly proclaimed that if he called back that she was on break or lunch or out. He immediately called back as she saic "I'm on break!". Nobody answered, they all suddenly had food in their mouths or had a call to make. She just aaid "REALLY?" and picked up. She argued some more and then loudly said " Mr Henry, Mr Henry, MR HENRY! There really wasn't many terms to get wrong in these stories so you're fine there. The story about the guy with the 10/22 had another red flag. Him cutting the barrel down to that legnth would be a violation of the NFA due to it being a short barreled rifle.

I mean, you CAN legally do that if you File an ATF Form 1 first. Which is a massive hassle and cost $200. Obviously, the guy's comments about shooting other motorist is a much bigger issue. The only term issue I noticed throughout was he misunderstood "Rem Mag", meaning Remington Magnum as a shortning of "Regular Magazine". Which was honestly not a big deal. Doesn't significantly change the story or anything. Overall he did quite well.

When i lived in north Mississippi there was this one gun store I liked to shop at. They had sketchy people showing up all the time trying to buy guns there, but they always refused to sell to them. Found out by talking to the store employees that these sketchy people were all ATF informants trying to trick one of store employs to sell guns to them unlawfully. This happened very often because their store had been targeted by the ATF for shut down by the obama administration. The reasoning there was because there were one of the biggest importers of a model of shotgun the ATF wanted to ban. In the 6 years I lived in the area that store was audited by the ATF no less than 8 times. Never found a single violation in their books either. Oh, and the gun the obama admin wanted to ban is called the Saiga-12, if anyone was curious.

I'll just say this. I believe heavily in gun rights. A lot of people forget one big thing about guns. They are meant to defend life, not property. The contents of your wallet or your car aren't worth anyone's life, not even the robbers. Defending property with deadly force is morally wrong. You may only shoot someone if they present an immediate & direct threat to you or another. I've had to shoot a man before, thankfully he survived with medical attention. The case was so clear cut that it never even went to court and I was never arrested. The best advice I can give is this, there's a difference between moral and legal and you better be acting within both if you're about use deadly force. Secondly, always call for medical attention immediately after AND render aid in the meantime, if possible. Third, always be the first to report the incident. Last, do not waste time wondering if you have the nerve to use deadly force. I can garuntee that if it's a true life-or-death situation you will not have the time to contemplate such things. In the heat of the moment you act faster than you can really comprehend or process. You don't feel anything until afterwards, once the adrenaline wears off. Once your safe and calm is when you'll have the time and clarity to actually sort out and understand everything. If you DO have the time to think through such complex thoughts before using a deadly weapon, then you are probably not in immediate life-threatening danger, and you should always endeavor to find a different solution or attempt to de-escalate first. The gun should literally be your LAST option when nothing else works.

I have no problem with anyone shooting a home intruder while they're unsure of the person's intentions (like while they're inside or in the process of breaking in). But if you shoot a man in the back as he's carrying your television across the lawn, that's murder. He was no longer a threat, he was leaving without having caused any direct harm, and at that point the deadly force is being used in a retributive and vengeful manner, it's no longer defensive.

I will say one hun law I do agree with is that a retailer can deny a purchase for no reason at all. If the guy is too shifty eyed or is rude that’s grounds to deny them and I’m okay with that. It's okay for you to get terms wrong. It is what it is. Before I became a cop, I worked in a gun store for 10 years. I stopped many sales for multitudes of reasons. Also. I guess a memo was sent around the 2slgbtq+ community that I was okay and would help them buy a gun for self defense. I'd help anybody who wasnt a problem. Hey Mainly Fact! I wanted to share my story. I work at a local Mom and Pop shop in my town. Now Last Friday June 2nd a co-worker's friend group (3.) Decide to do a prank. Now one decides to walk into the store with a freaking Michael Myers Mask, and a green jumpsuit. Now bless the sweet man who works at the gun counter, (He has a cool small handle bar mustache, and he's a really western/hunting kinda looking guy.) Well he gets scared because the kid in the mask asks him for "My friend." So the gun counter guy calls the cops. (As you should if you think something is up.) So the cops get called, two come in and patrol the store. They get the group of idiotic kids. I knew two. They were the 'trouble kids' So they get banned from the store. I'm happy. Because I don't have to worry about this group of kids coming in and doing stupid stuff. There's one kid in the group that hooked up with my abusive ex, while I was still with him. She's a jerk and deserved what happened to her and her friends. Don't pull dumb pranks that can/will harm or scare others.

I wasn't the seller, but where I work once had a guy try and come in to buy a gun. While processing the background check, we got a call from the FBI if the guy was still there. We were told to keep him talking until they could show up and take him. Not 10 minutes pater 2 fbi agents showed up and took him with them. Never got told why they wanted him.

Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You DO NOT have a right to threaten, injure, or kill other's (unless they are posing an immediate and legitimate threat to the life of you or another person). You DO NOT have the right to use a gun for any crime. You also have a right to buy/consume alcohol, but anyone can refuse a sale if they believe you're going to drive afterwards.

I'm gonna be honest, I am a red flag. Been depressed since I was 12 if not longer, and still get occasional suicidal thoughts. Had very.. disturbing thoughts during mandatory military service when ever I had live ammunition. Somehow through self guilt I just marched on, not wanting to upset my friends and family. No clue how I managed to push through without turning myself into a statistic. Few months after my service there was another person who didn't manage to push through. Somehow that wasn't me.

Living in the EU, almost no one here has a gun... but as soon as someone here finds out you have one almost EVERYONE wants to know how and how much it will cost and such. All excitement disappeares as soon as i say that buying a gun is the easiest and cheapest part of the purchase. Fun fact.. you need a special, super hard to get licence for open carry. CC is standard and REQUIRED if you have a permit to carry a firearm. And to get one you need to verify you know and understand the laws and regs, handle firearms correctly(there is a required exam) and pass both physical AND mental health evaluation(i'm shocked the last isn't required everywhere) To purchase one, you need a separate licence for which you need to apply. All are digital and attached to your SSN. Retailers have accesss to verify it online and on the spot. All firearm related purchases require a valid ID. Bonus fact: DUI invalidates all your firearms related licences...permanently.

I have a few friends that work in firearm shops in different states. During the 2020 riots many people who didn't know anything about firearms tried to buy their first pieces for protection from the rioters. Many of these people had only heard from CNN that there were 'no restrictions' and they were 'easier to buy than candy' blah blah blah. Many were surprised when they had to fill out a background check and quite a few were denied from pot use or crimes they had committed. The best one a buddy in California told me was a guy bought a pistol, passed the background check and paid for the weapon. The clerk said thank you and that he could pick it up in 2 weeks so he qill see him then. The buyer was livid because the riots were close to his neighborhood and he felt that he needed protection now! My buddy just told him "Think about that next time a gun law comes up to vote on" and said see you in two weeks.

I'm from the South. I don't see a problem with owning one or two handguns in the off chance you need to defend yourself with one or owning a couple of hunting rifles. A decent chunk of my family enjoys hunting and my great grandfather kept a hand gun in his bedside table until the day he died at 95. Not sure why he'd need it since he lived in a very small town full of people who really cared about him and wouldn't even think about robbing him. However, I do think someone buying a machine gun is going very overboard. Some people shouldn't have access to guns.

You can't generally buy a gun for the purpose of immediately giving to another person. This is called a straw purchase and it's illegal. Because the mandatory NICS background check needs to be done on the actual person who will be owning it. This insures the actual owner may legally possess the gun. Technically, the way to do it legally is to bring the gift recipient to the store and have them there for the purchase. The shop can then have that person complete the necessary paperwork and go through the NICS check. They can garuntee the new owner is legally allowed to possess such a gun. Alternatively, just give the gift recipient the money and have them buy it themselves. The shop sort-of acted oddly in that story. As long as he WAS 18 at the time that should've been ok. I'm guessing the guy either wasn't actually 18 yet or it just freaked the salesman out (because allowing a straw purchase can get your Federal Firearms License revoked, so a lot of shops will go beyond what's actually necessary, out of fear). Federal law states no age to possess/own a rifle/shotgun. Must be 18 to purchase a long gun. Must be 18 to own a pistol. Must be 21 to purchase a pistol.

But at least with gun control laws it creates more barriers of purchase in general. Criminals can be charismatic enough to get past a store clerk, but they're not smart people once they encounter an issue. They would likely look up where to find a black market online, have that tracked, and then get caught. Because they would more than likely go to a gun shop first just to find out they're not approved for a gun, they would be immediately flagged too thanks to responsible store clerks. Just because a black market exists doesn't mean it should control what laws are in place for the general public. It's like saying "well, because you can by oxycontin from a dealer, it makes no sense to have opiate laws in place." Just no...that's not how this works.

The authors did a systematic study of every mass shooting in the U.S. in order to come up with guidelines as to how we can prevent them. It's a great read, it's available in audio format, and it's really important for anyone who cares about the topic, regardless of which side of the gun law debate you're on.

From what I can remember, this isn't a local mandate, I'm pretty sure it's federal law. I mean I guess they never mentioned which part of the firearm had the DYI modification, but the laws are very clear about disallowing almost any enhancements aside from a scope, pointer or flashlight

Ok, I hate people like the cashier in story 14. I'll be the first to admit that I'm no firearms expert, but I do hunt and grew up with hunters that had a couple different calibers of gun so I know enough that I can fiddle around and find out what's what (safety etc.) but one thing I cannot emphasize enough is that is someone says "my gun is x caliber" and it's their gun to begin with, listen, or if you're buying the gun, worst case scenario, it's normally either on the tag or (at least this is the case with mine) it's engraved on the barrel. If the person doesn't know enough to be at least a responsible salesman, maybe he shouldn't at least be in sales

I live in rural NC. Those of us that don't own guns are by far the minority. Occasionally in some of the cities there will be gang members pull out a gun trying to scare somebody, and get the shock of their lives. (It's kind of like Crocodile Dundee, "that's not a knife - this is a knife," except with guns. 😅) That being said, most people here assume when they go out in public that at least one of the people around them has a concealed carry permit and a gun on their person. Still, there is a large gun store that some idiot decided to rob. He pulled out a gun and so did almost everone else in the store. At least he got a nice ride in a police car. 😂

Got 2 stories. Not sure if they fit but gonna comment anyway. Also not gonna say the name of the two stores just their abbreviations Don't work at a gun store but i was with my brother in law at his favorite gun store. I asked him what his least favorite gunstore and he said AB. He said the reason why is because the atmosphere seems very negative because the guys who work there are never happy to see you but he kinda understood why. Apparently one time when he was there a customer was getting mad at the employee for not giving him the gun the after he paid for it. In California you have to wait 10 days to pick up your gun after your purchase it. The guy said that rule was dumb and called the employee an idiot for following this law. I guess this employee has heard that comment one too many times and finally had enough and replied "well you're the dumbass who voted for this law and thanks to you we have to follow it" the man was then removed from the store There was another time where I was at a gunstore called RG and the employee behind the counter was telling me about a time where a guy came in buying an AR15 chambered in 300 blackout (which is hard to find in California) rather than in 5.56 or.2.23. The reason why is because the guy was trying to impress this girl he brought with her with his knowledge about the gun. finally the employee who was telling me the story said to the guy "you do know finding ammo for that is gonna be a nightmare right? " the guy came back the next day for a refund

To explain the story with the 7mm rounds and why theyre different: The thing that makes them different is their dimensions. Sure one round could say 7.62 and a gun could take 7.62, but you cant just put any 7.62 in the gun. An AK-47 shoots 7.62x54, which has a slightly bigger casing than say a 7.62x39. So, the bullets themselves are similar, however the casings are different sizes, meaning the round with the larger casing has more gunpowder inside of it.

Slight correction is that the average Kalashnikov is chambered in 7.62x39. the 7.62x54 is the large chambered round used in rifles like the SVD Dragunov or the Mosin Nagant sniper patterned rifles. Theres also the 7.62x51 which is the NATO standard of the .308 battle rifles such as the FN SCAR 17.

And more importantly the 7 mm Mauser was first designed in 1892 and is meant to be used in guns of that era that which are weaker due to that metallurgy was not as advanced back then and original guns are over 100 years old. 7 mm Remington Magnum was developed in 1962, 70 years later and meant for guns of that era. Even if the casing is the same 7 mm tells us only how wide the bullet is one bullet could be longer and thus heavier and uses powder that's more "hot" (aka has more power in it) which in practice is the same thing if there was more powder in the casing. Not mention countless different dimension differences the rounds can have the casing could be the same length but different shape for example. It's pretty far from "all 7 mm rounds are the same" and has been so for pretty much as long as rounds have been mass produced, even I know this and I'm not really a gun person. Getting your bullets mixed could lead to anything the gun not closing properly (and thus being unusable as most modern guns wont fire if not closed properly) to literally blowing up in your face which even with relatively "weak" round like 7 mm is not good for your face, it might not kill you (if you're lucky) but it will probably leave you with a nasty scar.
