My mom woke me up on April 1st to tell me to hurry up for school. It was a snow day. The next year, my mom woke me up to tell me that I could sleep in because it was a snow day. It wasn't. The years after that I set my alarm extra early before April 1st so I would be awake early enough to be alert when the April Fools joke inevitably came in such was my trauma.

I relate to story 1. I was in a fight in my dream and I woke up in the middle of my dream and my arm slipped from under me. I was laying on my side, next thing I know my arm is up in the arm and dropped on my wife's forehead she woke up and said did you hit me with a bowling ball and went back to sleep. One of my favorite stories

My ex when I woke him up to show him my positive pregnancy test: "oh, good" *rolls back over to sleep more* To be fair, he was coming down with a cold and it was the day my grandma was buried and he doesn't handle death well. That was also the day I cut contact with his mom. Her response was "can you afford it?" The convo went downhill from there.

I'm an incredibly light sleeper, and it gets worse in the days leading up to a migraine. (Sleep disturbances are my only warning sign that one's coming on.) I also have really vivid dreams that add on to being woken up. Some of my most memorable "I woke up for this?" moments are: - My dad having a loud conversion about politics with an overnight guest at 3am. - My sibling starting a fight with my parents while getting ready for school at about 6:30 am. (I do online college, they're in high school that starts at 7:30 am. I'm very rarely up before 9.) - Our family dogs yipping and yelping at 2am because someone forgot to give them each a treat before bed. - My dad blasting wresling videos on his phone at 6am. - My dad dropping a bag of dog food at 5 am. (I jolted awake from this because the sound of the bag hitting the ground got into my dream, and was translated into our wall mounted TV falling for some reason. To be fair, the TV did actually fall off of the wall about a week prior to the dream, but it wasn't damaged.) - My cat knocking over an oil diffuser (which has a ceramic cover) at 6am because she wanted the bag of treats laying beside it. ‐ This may not count for being woken up, as I was only half asleep at the time, but my cat decided she wanted pets, and poked me in my butt with her claws to get the message across. There's more, but I can't remember them at the moment. Thank you for reading my comment.

Had a friend crashing with me. Staying with me was getting to be a normal thing as her and her boyfriend was butting heads a lot. One of the things she quickly learned about me was that I walked, talked, and occasionally sung in my sleep. She finds the walking to be weird, the talking to be informative as I tend to talk about random trivia or am cursing about bad drivers, but it's the singing that gets her going. She used to wake me up constantly, just terrified out of her mind, because I was singing the song about the sunken ship, or a song about tying nooses, or whatever.

When I was a teenager, my mom woke me up at the crack of dawn (6 or 6:30) and said "you have to see this!" She dragged me across the house to a TV that showed a fire, no context, just a burning building on TV, a skyscraper by the looks of it. I had visited New York the previous summer on vacation and figured the appearance and materials seemed the same. I looked to my mom for context, and she just looked at me, expecting something I had no clue about. At first, I just couldn't figure out why she put in the effort of waking me up early to watch a burning building on the opposite side of the country. But since the effort needed to wake me up as teen was disproportionately large and my mom had put that effort in, a lot of people must be dead. So I did what the schools and stadiums always told me to do, and spent a minute in respectful silence. After that, I asked if I could go back to bed. Later, people were talking about the fire at school and that first impression of respectful silence held, so I kept quiet despite my usual inability to shut up. Three days later, someone mentioned the fire was an attack. My respectful silence remained. A few days after that, I found out it was a terrorist attack. I felt it was too late to speak up, and I should just keep doing what I'd been doing. So yeah, that September was different than all others. But at least I never freaked out over it. Edit: 1 word

I remember this one instance in which I had woken up to see my sister staring right at me, face to face. It scared the living crap out of me, and when I asked her what she was doing, she just answered, "Oh, I was just seeing if you were sleeping." I looked back at her with a dead panned face, said "bruh," then rolled over and went back to sleep.

One was when I was about to go to the showers. I had to quickly get dressed, so glad I wasn't actually in the shower yet.

My mom’s cousin woke me up in the middle of the night because there was an earthquake. It was barely a 3 on the Richter scale. Yet he was in the hallway screaming like a little girl. Here's one for the Viewer Edition. I got a job as night porter at a hotel and worked 5 nights a week from 11pm to, I believe, 7:30am (don't quite remember now). This meant I was sleeping all morning and waking up around tea time in the afternoon. I lived with my mum and step-dad as well. Well on the very first day of that job where I wasn't scheduled that night, I got home from work early in the morning and went to bed. I was then woken up an hour later by my mum. Apparently, because I wasn't working that night, I had to be up all day to "spend some time with the rest of the world". I tried explaining about sleep patterns but she wasn't having it. I spent all that day tired and, on my next shift, I had to rely on a 4 hour nap to get through the shift. My mum never changed her opinion for the entire 2 years I worked that job. 😒

My dad used to enjoy waking me up at 6 am on weekends or holidays for absolutely no reason at all. He was awake and decided I should be too. I think he did the same thing to my brothers. We had to get up earlier on school days because of a long bus ride so I guess he thought an extra 30-45 minutes of sleep was enough. He would find something for us to do if we complained about it.

I have a sleep disorder: hypermobile sleep REM Disorder. This is basically the opposite of sleep paralysis. I act out my dreams without waking up. I can't tell you how many times I've woken up kicking or punching my husband because of my dreams. I've also dislocated my shoulder in my sleep at least 4 times. Another side effect is that I have super vivid dreams that make me question if it was reality. There have been times where I haven't done things in real life because I dreamt that I did it. My sleep is wild but gives me some great stories.

I was fully in deep sleep and someone was using a chainsaw on a tree and it fell with a hard thunk, assuming so. It was right outside my room in the backyard. I got woken up by my family, who are loud naturally, across the entire house asking where I was and if I was still asleep. My room was closed and they were in the garage with thick walls from being an outside wall and an add on from years ago. They all came barrelling to my room yelling, asking if I was asleep through the tree falling.

Concerning the baked potato that was set in fire, I've done that before. Not to a potato but a cup of mac and cheese you make in the microwave. I had forgotten to put water in the cup and it ended up on fire before the time finished. My family banned me from using the microwave unsupervised for a while after that.(I was in elementary school at the time) Also, baked potatoes after midnight are pretty good! Sometimes your inner gremlin wants a baked potato at midnight and doesn't want to bug your sleeping mom. They're pretty good! Highly recommend with butter and sour cream or butter and cheese to your liking.

In college, I lived in a dorm with 3 other guys, 2 bedrooms on opposite sides of a common room, bathroom attached to common room as well. My wife, then-fiancee, comes for the weekend and sleeps in my bedroom, shared with 1 roommate. Another roommate was gay, dating, and brought someone he'd been seeing back late at night. So, 4am my wife gets out of bed saying she needs to go to the bathroom. I go back to sleep. She wakes me up a few minutes later... She walked into the common room, saw 2 naked guys on the floor, stumbled with her eyes averted across the floor, kicked over my Xbox 360, and shut the bathroom door unintentionally hard. When she came out, both guys were dressed, the date introduced himself awkwardly, and my wife returned to bed to tell me the story. My singular response in all this: "Ok, but did you pick up my Xbox?" My roommate made absolutely no secret about his orientation, and everyone in the dorm openly celebrated or supported his dating highs and lows. When we all heard this story from my wife later that day, we immediately showered our roommate with congratulations for getting laid (as college kids often do).

The smoke alarm story reminded me of an incident that happened in an apartment I lived in. Woke up to somebody knocking on a door, shouting "Maintenance!" repeatedly. In my groggy state I thought it was across the hall or on another floor in my building, until they kept knocking. I went to the door to see where the noise was coming from, and turned out they were knocking on my door. My HVAC unit was leaking so heavily it was coming through the ceiling of the unit below me. They came in, turned off the power to the unit, then left. The next day I shut my cats up in my room so they could service it.

With managers calling early in the morning, I've had one with a particularly bad habit of texting everyone else in leadership in the early hours of the morning pictures of something that wasn't done perfectly the day before with the message typically being "can you find what's wrong with this?". This is in retail, so it'd usually be something benign like a spot not faced properly, some dirt on the floor, or an old tag still up, all of which would take a couple minutes at most to fix. But instead of dealing with it like a rational person and just telling us "Hey, [Task] got missed the other day, make sure it's taken care of tonight." when we come in to our shifts, the 5 of us get to play the crappiest version of Where's Waldo at 7AM. A bit of extra unfun for whoever was the closer the night before, since they'd've gotten home at 11PM at the earliest and most folks need more than 5 seconds to go to bed when they get home from work.

This could just be an old policy/an excuse the CO gave at the time, but apparently in the military (or at least the Air Force circa the early 90s), you’re not held responsible for actions in the first five seconds or ten seconds after you wake up, something like that? My dad once threw a room safe at his commanding officer reflexively when he was woken out of a dead asleep, which would normally be grounds for serious discipline, but they cited this rule & he was given lots of grief, but no actual punishment lmao Also one time my mom woke my dad up by biting him in the meat of his shoulder blade in the middle of the night. She was dreaming someone was wagging a finger in her face (a pet peeve of hers) and she warned them she would bite if they didn’t stop! So my dad’s back was the poor sap who suffered 😂

I have a story. It was my first year in college and it was after the week of midterms, it's the weekend and you can probably tell I am tired. My older brother who was living with us at time withmy baby nephew woke me up at about 7 or 8 in the morning because he wanted to go get some cigarettes at the corner store but didn't want to bring nephew. Now my brother could get me to watch a kid no matter what I was doing to the point my parents made up a room where he would have to ask them to get me the babysit, I told him that and he was mad, spent the rest of the day ranting about how life is so unfair and how people can never do him a little favor. If I said something he would just say I'm not talking to you while continuing to yell. I was really sensitive and a people pleaser when I was in my teens so at first I felt bad, until I realized he woke me up to do him a favor, he knew how tired I was but didn't care. Ever since I was done trying to be nice to people at my own expense.

I have three stories about that. First: when I was still living with Mom, the neighbours above Mom decided to have a fight at 5 am right above my room😑 Second, one Saturday, I was woken up at 7 am because our cats knocked the router over when fighting. The router just fell over, but didn't break. Third, one of my and my husband's cats is a literal scaredy-cat. One night hubby was already asleep and that cat was dosing off on my side of the bed. I approached the bed in the dark and only saw the cat when I already put my hand onto the bed. The cat got startled and decided to run away by using hubbys head as a freaking jumping platform. To quote hubby "I was resting peacefully in the Realm of Dreams only to wake up in a world of pain" I was then treating a cross shaped wound on hubby's earlobe and a bloody scratch behind the same ear. It's all healed away by now. Also, hubby just reminded me, that I once woke him up by banging my head in his guy parts while asleep myself. Heck if I know, what I was dreaming that night. My dreams can be wild😅

One of the things they did was come into my room to wake me up EVERY DAY for ANY REASON knowing it would piss me off and I would yell at them and they would cry about it later saying I was horrible and abusive to them. Some of the reasons include: -they stubbed their toe -their boyfriend did our dishes for us -they were bored - they wanted Starbucks and just wanted to tell me -they were sad -they were on the phone with their friend and just wanted to show me -they clogged the sink but had already taken care of it -they figured out how to use the can opener -they wanted water -many many more Idk how I put up with it for so long.

Well some of these stories made a camp story pop into my head. I'm going to make it a short version so here we go So the summer of 2009 at a camp in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania. I was at a camp for kids with special needs. So this one summer my final summer I was assigned to a bunk. You know a bunch of the normal kids we were together in. No big deal until they introduced this new kid first summer and well he had horrible and I mean horrible separation anxiety so bad. He slept the day away since That's the only way to keep the kid quiet. Well four to five days in the camp and to the dot I remember the time it was around freaking 3:30 in the morning. We hear this kid wake up saying I want my mommy. I wanted to go home and he kept repeating and repeating until everyone in the bunk got fed up and then he took the counselor shaver and tried to shave his head in some form of protest. I was so lost for words. I was literally thinking of myself. Okay I'm going to summer school next year and before you ask yes the camp called his parents and they sent him home. His parents came by at around 4 in the morning to pick him up and he was taking home. I guess that's why I develop a reflex of waking up at 5:00 in the morning for work. Sometimes things from camp stick with you, especially the smallest things

My wife and I each work 4 day work weeks, but hers is Monday through Thursday and mine is Tuesday through Friday. For work, we both wake up at 5 AM. On Sunday nights, I usually stay up pretty late so I can sleep through her alarms easier. One Monday, my wife woke me up at 5 AM to let me know she was going to work from home that day. Once I'm woken up, I can't get back to sleep. If she hadn't woken me up, I would have figured it out the moment I saw her when I woke up on my own. Instead, I was awake at 5 AM on my day off where I had no plans but to relax.

My husband is a magician (It's not his day job). A few years ago I had gone to bed early one night while he was learning a new close-up trick. I was dozing off when he came barging into the bedroom shouting, "I need a sleeve!" He then rummaged through the closet, pulled out a suit coat by the sleeve, held it up like a prize-winning fish, said, "This will do." and ran out of the bedroom. A moment later I hear loud hammering. I start to doze off again when he comes in again and announces, "That didn't work." He hangs up the suit coat and heads out of the room. I thought it was a dream until he confirmed it the next day. This is my go-to story when people ask me what it's like being married to a magician.

I have something for this. I was staying at an anime convention. A religious holiday happened to fall during the convention, so I was fasting from sunset to sunset. There was about a 2 hour gap between the events I planned to attend, so I wanted to take a nap before a small event that would got til sunset, when I was going to go to dinner. Five minutes into my nap and the fire alarm goes off. I kid you not, the entire hotel/ convention hall had to be evacuated. I'd never seen this before or since. It took about an hour and a half for the firemen to clear everything and let people back in. By the time I got back to my hotel room it was time to line up for my next event. I was P'd. And what, pray tell, set off the fire alarm? Some Dumb but decided to spray paint their costumes in a poorly ventilated hotel room. Oh, the rage I felt towards this person.

Im not a morning person. At all. And I was off work one Saturday so I thought 'nice, I'm sleeping in till 11' Well, 7:30 comes, my dad barges into my room telling me that there's something happening and I gotta get up, it's an emergency. The 'emergency'? Getting a Covid test. Tested negative for covid, but tested positive for "are you fucking serious right now". Was still stuck in that house for 2 weeks becuse someone else tested positive. "There better be blood or fire next time you wake me up before 9, and if there isnt, I will make some"

The first story reminded me of one time I had a dream that my boyfriend cheated on me. I woke up right after, grabbed a pillow, and smacked him so hard with it. He asked me "What the hell is that for?!" I told him I had a dream he cheated on me and how could he! I checked the time; it was around two in the morning and went back to sleep. I am still shocked at myself I did that lol.

I remember when I was younger i shared a room with my younger brother, and one night I woke up and was hallucinating. I thought I saw my brother with a really stretched smile. It scared the living fuck out of me. I started to rub my eyes and I came to the realization that it was my dog laying on my brothers bed looking at me. For some reason, I mistook a DOG for my little brother.

When I was in high school, my mom woke up my dad in the middle of the night telling him that my older sister never came back from the renaissance festival. Since she's been as responsible as a 60-year-old since middle school, this was concerning, so my dad got up, only to get back into bed 5 minutes later. Why? He found her sleeping in her bed. My mom had seen that my sister's bedroom door was ajar and just assumed she didn't make it home.

Not me, but my mom. And let me tell you, my mom is NOT someone you want to wake up earlier than she's ready. I learned that the hard way when I was in high school and missed the bus (before 7:00 A.M). Anyway, she was on vacation in Aruba with her sisters (my aunts) when this happened. Now, there was something that the younger of the two aunts wanted to do that required getting up early, and she thought the appropriate way to wake my mom was to jump on her bed. Remembering how mad my mom got at me when I woke her up in a *much* more polite way than that, I'm amazed my aunt lived to tell the tale. 😂

The only time I had room mates, I (guy) was with two party girls who basically did whatever they felt like, and I was often picking up behind their shenanigans. One time they invite friends from out of town and go out for the night, I decided I wanted to stay home that day. I get woken up by one of them at 4 AM (the brattiest of the two, mind you) who proceeds to tell me her boyfriend got caught drunk driving, and I'm the only one sober enough to drive, so I need to get up and go get him at the police station. I'm already pissed, so the other room mate's boyfriend just convinces me to go and comes with me. Half awake and kinda pissed, I reluctantly agree and go. We get to the police station, that dude is NOWHERE to be found. We both look for him, then at some point I'm angry enough to just give up. The other guy with me is apologizing profusely about the situation. By the time we get home, we realize he left on foot to get back home and never bothered to tell anyone. I was so PISSED I just went back to bed and didn't talk to anyone all of the following day. Worst part? Bratty room mate who woke me up NEVER even thanked me for that. Never again did I do any favors to her afterwards, and both room mates moved out about a month later. Never seen them since.

Our friends group has a free pass for pooping in your pants once a year (I have absolutely no idea as to how/why the rule came along most likely something to do with being drunk, I am the only sober one). I glared up with him with hooded eyes and say "happy new year." Two hours into the new year her used up his only free pass for the next 364 days 22 hours.

Honestly there have been times where I'll be sleeping and I get woken up in the middle of the night by one of my supervisors at work asking me if I could come in early or come in on my day off due to someone calling off or due to an open shift that needs to be filled. (I'm a security guard at a hospital and we keep losing guards due to multiple reasons). Most, if not all the time, when it happens I say no and that I was sleeping before hanging up.

I work at a dennys, so we never close. I live three blocks away so they call me in anytime they get busy so that I can come help them get caught up. I used to put the load away and knew where everything was because of that. One night, at 2 in the morning, someone called to ask where the onion rings are. I proceeded to tell them they are kept to the left of this, the right of that, under something else, above another thing. They are kept on the shelf three feet off the floor directly inside the walk in freezer. However, it saddens me to have to inform you that we ran out out yesterday. I'm going back to sleep. Then I hung up. She didn't talk to me for a few days after that. Seriously, supervisors should typically know where stuff is. I like sleeping.

One time when I was called one of my best friends at like 3am cause he worked overnight and I had to be up by 5am (5:50am at the latest if I need that good extra bit for my beauty sleep), and I answer the phone in a groggy sleepy voice of a "yeah, you good man?". He causally whisper "hey man, you busy?" I responded by being quiet for a few seconds and then saying yes...I was sleeping. He literally said oh! Are you going to go back to sleep? I told him in a much groggy annoyed voice Yes! I have to be up for work in like 2 hours. He then said oh and said ight I'll talk to you later when you wake up. I love that man, but holy shit man please have some common sense for that kinda decency to do for a early as hell phone call smh

I think I would be mad and berate anyone for a week straight if someone woke me up for dumb reasons. I vaguely remember my mother once waking me up in the middle of the night as she stumbled into my room completely drunk. She pushed my door in loud, realized it's not the toilet then left it open and went back to sleep. I really contemplated to get to her room, kick the door in, turn on the lamp and leave but I knew she was too shitfaced (as always this our of the day) to know what's happening. Instead I set a morning alarm to myself 15 minutes before hers, woke up and blasted loud music in her room. I know I was an asshole but my mom was an alcoholic and I hated how I could have maybe 2 hours of normal interaction with her a day for 12 years.
