That is the EXACT spot where I get knots. I could almost feel the relief as I watched you working out the knot on that guy. You really know what you're doing. I recently had an Asian lady do that elbow technique on me at the mall massage parlor. Although my skin at the surface felt slightly sore in the days following, the relief I felt was amazing and totally worth it.

I am currently a massage therapy student and I think your videos are a great teaching tool. I always feel that I need more information after new techniques are taught and I find your videos the best I have seen on KZbin. You are an excellent teacher. I receive excellent reviews from my preceptor and in the student clinic because of your videos.

I've had this done before by my former physiotherapist. It hurt like hell when he released the muscle and he apologized for causing me pain by I knew and he knew it was the only way the knots in my back muscles were going to open up. After he was finished, even though it really hurt, I felt much relief. My one nephew, who is not a trained massage therapist, has also given me massages and he could not believe how tense my muscles were. Again, after he massaged my shoulders and upper back, I felt fantastic.

My martial arts teacher was also a licensed massage therapist. He had to "repair me" several times. One knot took 25 minutes for him to work out. Popping my shoulder blades back in due to stress was a workout for him. I used his technique when I taught briefly and helped a friend to raise his arm above his head again. I helped coworker to repair his pulled shoulder muscles and remove a big knot. It's a bigger workout than people realize. I'd like to help people with their injuries again.

I had a huge knot in my back adjacent to the T5-6 area, it literally looked like a half a golfball under my skin, and it was there for years! I could feel it as I layed down, and as I got tired and my back hurt more, it actually got bigger. My doc at the VA sent me for acupuncture... I had needles in my back, my head, my ears, my feet - and I shit you not, within 3 days, that knot was gone! That was 4 years ago and it never has returned!
@jb0579

That's awesome! Ppl ask me if I hate the VA because it's disorganized and i gotta say - the VA has been good to me. The only thing i hate is having to wait so long just to be seen! Other than that they've been GREAT to me!

@@gas7736 what do you mean knots don't exist? I get them all the time?
@gas7736
@gas7736 5 жыл бұрын
@@jb0579 Knots dont exist. Knots was a word invented for tight or tense areas of the muscles. There are no physical "knots" in your body. Or atleast thats what i think
@jb0579
@jb0579 5 жыл бұрын
@@gas7736 Not sure I agree. When I went to med school, granted this was 20 years ago, but when i went to med school i did an internship at a sports medicine clinic. That's the discipline i wanted to practice as, to me, it was the most fluid and dynamic and indeed exciting specialty in medicine - except maybe diagnostics. Anyway - what you consider a "knot" may be called something else to a patient, instructor or physician. What I was taught, and what I in turn teach my students and interns, is that muscles react in different ways to different stimuli, for example applying heat or ice, poor hydration, chemicals, etc. The most common culprits are poor hydration and mineral deficiencies. Whatever the cause, a muscle cramp occurs when the muscles tighten, contract or shorten. Often, when a muscle cramps up, it can be observed as a lump or balled up very hard was of muscle. This is what we refer to as a knot- the muscle balls up and is very hard to the touch. When the body gets what it needs and/or the muscle relaxes the knot will subside. So......are there literal knots in the muscle fibers or elsewhere in the body? Very strictly speaking no, you are technically right. But is a literal knot what we all envision when we use that word? No. When our throats are horse, there is not a literal horse in our throat. Males do not have literal "nuts" in their groins. People dont literally have "camel toes". These are essentially slang terms used for simplicity sake. So although you are technically right, figuratively speaking when we physicians or patients use the word "knot" we are referring to a muscle CRAMP or muscle SPASM.

The first massage I had, the lady worked out my knots. Best experience of my life! Lol it was the weirdest feeling. It hurt just a little at first, but then you literally feel the knot burst and dissipate. I've been to 5 or 6 therapists since then and not one could work the miracles she did. She set the bar so high. Maybe one day I'll find someone with her skills again.

I need to see a chiropractor again to start with. That helps a lot. For close to 15 years now, the daily struggle of dealing with the pain from knots is burdensome and some days almost unbearable but I push through. Trying to find someone like this where I'm from who knows what their doing (like this) is impossible. Knots start at the traps and go just under the shoulder blades. Basically, the upper portion is causing the most pain and it strings everything else below along. Bad enough where my lower back aches all the time.

My mom has a golf ball size knot on the back of her neck. Ive been massaging her for eions and im always worried to hurt her. I've never went as deep as this but my next round with her is on. Ive been told by many family members to go to school for this as they all are drooling when im done. But never pursued it. I thank you kindly for the video and will let you know how it goes. Trust that i use caution to not hurt anyone i massage. And they are frequently asked if its too much pressure. But i could practically jump up and down on that knot my mom has without fazing her whatsoever. Im at least a buck twenty.

Breanne Blaquiere -- Keep having them work at it. I had my gf just press down on it (same area) with her thumbs, bottom palm and Index/Middle finger for long periods over a few days. It was painful in a good way but I though it wasnt working til then one day it was just gone. Twice that's happened now.

Also, if u go to a pro, ask for a myfascial (sp?) release. Cured a multi-year tightness buildup in my left quad due to snowboarding.

that looked so relaxing, i have a knot the size of a tennis ball in my back. i use a softball as i sit on a recliner with the ball in between and just push back and side to side & i feel the knot moving around. It hurts but feels so good, Ive never had a pro massage but would love one.

Queen Zen all massage therapists are taught how to do this. We all have different styles of treatment, though. Ask around to friends for a good Therapist where you live - that’s the best way to begin your search for the right therapist for you. This video is great educational info for sure! Good luck.

Everyone is different, different pain thresholds. I actually enjoy extreme-pressure, but you are correct, usually the fingers do give out before it gets to the point where I want to scream, but it feels so good afterwards.

Well, if a muscle hurts 99% of the time it’s pulled/tight from a work out, so by commen sense you try to stretch it out
