Sachin was already a giant at that time but that very innings of 241 made him immortal of the game. The discipline, the sheer stoic like mind for not playing his favourite shot is just impossible to think forget about doing it🗿

One reason I feel what makes Tendulkar be able to do that is his incredible ability to play other shots. Just limiting his cover drive doesn't limit his run scoring because he has other areas where he scores a lot even without taking a lot of risks. Something which other players might not be able to do so because either they would get stuck or they would be having to take a risky approach to get the score moving.

spot on! His ability to play the same cover drive delivery straight back past the bowler or even at times leg glance it through mid wicket is what made him effective even after cutting off such a dominant shot!

One of the reasons leaving the ball is tougher now is the rise of the wobble ball. With a traditional outswinger you can leave it confidently if its on the off stump or outside off line since it will miss the stumps. And then you play the ball that swings in. With the wobble ball neither the batter nor the bowler know which one comes in and which one goes out making leaving hell. Also Sachin might not be the best example since he had about 7000 shots. So even if he put one away he can find other ways to make runs. That's not true for a lot of batters. They're more limited. And for a lot of them cover drives might be their highest scoring shot. So taking it away isn't possible since then they'd barely score enough runs to put pressure.

that's a solid point you've raised and yes, definitely agree that most batters lack the range that Sachin had! But also for the sheer mental tenacity to be able to put that shot away, we think that there's a lot one can take away as a batter from this innings!

Virat kohli is the greatest who has played this game. He excels in all three formats. Reached No.1 ranking in all three. He is good at playing every shot. He is a better actor than his professional actor wife. He speaks so wisely and articulated that people stop doing work in hand to listen to him. He is a youth icon. Greatest ever who has played this game. Yet people hesitate to compare him with the god of cricket. That is how big Sachin is ❤

There Are many Batters Who are Good In Odi + T20i , many Who are Good in Test + ODI Many Good in Test + T20i but None Of Them Are as Good as Kohli in Excelling all 3 Formats almost Equally ..
