The OP of story 24 is entirely wrong about wolves, they tend to actively avoid humans and the only time you risk dying to one is if it’s actively hunting you or you provoke it.
@SophieBrutonАй бұрын
Honestly sounds like op is just trying to murder a kritter they don’t understand. They must be a farmer.
@kyototomokui6676Ай бұрын
@ That or just the average human, since human nature is to destroy what we don’t understand. Fortunately more and more of us are straying away from that nature, and now we can finally start understanding the world instead of breaking it.

FAST is useful stroke recognition signs, but there is also S T R, which is more focused on how to identify the signs in a person: S - Ask them to Smile. If their smile is crooked, that's a sign of stroke. T - Ask them to Talk. If they can't, or if it's garbled or nonsensical, that's a sign of stroke. R - Ask them to Raise both arms. If one arm doesn't go up as much, that's a sign of stroke. Now, just a tip that might not save any lives but could save some medical bills: If you're young, *don't have any risk factors for stroke*, and find yourself experiencing a constellation of symptoms such as: weakness/dizziness, blind spots, numbness/tingling in one hand and/or one side of your face, difficulty speaking, and headache, close your eyes and look for a curved zigzag shape in your visual field. If you see that curved zigzag in your vision, congratulations! You're most likely having a migraine attack and all the weird things happening to your senses are migraine aura. The aura usually doesn't last very long, like half an hour or a couple hours, but the head pain can last up to a couple days and be anywhere from nonexistent to severe, so get a thing of tylenol or ibuprofen or whatever ready. Migraines suck ass and the aura can be freaky as hell, but they're not emergencies. (Source: this shit happened to me a few years back and I thought I was having a stroke at the age of 20, and was considering calling emergency until I saw the zigzag and recognized it as migraine aura. Never had another migraine before or since, so knowing this saved me a lot of stress and possibly a lot of hospital bills!) If you can't confirm it's a migraine, ask someone to do the STR/FAST check on you, or if you're alone (and can see) get to a mirror and check it yourself. Preferably someone older and more likely to know the signs of stroke, like a parent or otherwise more responsible adult. Also, another tip that I learned from a roommate in college: If someone's trying to grab you and they put their hand over your mouth, try to bite through their fingers. Fingers are actually easy to bite through (about as tough as a carrot, supposedly) but your brain stops you when it's your own. Also apparently the middle finger has a vein or something that bleeds badly when severed, so if you bite off someone's middle finger they'll have to stop trying to kidnap you and start trying to not bleed out.

Something that was never taught to me about swimming, which i figured out myself. taking a deep breath helps you stay afloat as the air filled lungs makes you more buoyant. But do beware accidently inhaling water.
@CarlaEvАй бұрын
Laying on your back also helps in that instance. Sadly, that doesn't work for everyone. While it works great for me and my mother, my father sinks like a stone. Best to try it out in a casual setting before attempting to rely on it in a more serious one. Also, you're slightly more buoyant in salt water due to well, the salt, so while it may work for some in the ocean, it also might not work as well in a lake.

The gun safety ones are real. My dad took my brother, cousins and I to the desert in las vegas when I was a kid (4m, 6f, and preteen cousins). Lessons included "This is a watermelon, it has the same toughness as your skull. Look what a bullet does to it" and "treat every single gun as if it were loaded at all times. This means never point at anything you don't want a hole in." which saved my cousin some serious trouble years later when he was cleaning his gun. He took out the magazine and began cleaning, pointing at the floor as he always did despite knowing it was empty. It wasn't, there was one in the chamber and he shot the floor (single story, no basement). We also learned that walls might as well be paper when it comes to modern firearms, so take care never to aim at a wall or anything you don't know for certain has nobody behind it (hence the wide open desert). I didn't end up being a gun owner, but I know my safety and I also know that unless I go to a range and practice that I'm not going to be saving the day movie style by picking up a random gun to shoot bad guys. Gun safety should be taught even to people who will never touch a gun in their lives because guns exist and there is never going to be a zero percent chance that someone will encounter one, and they need to know enough not to endanger themselves or others when they do.

Story 39 I had a somewhat similar experience. My buddy and I went to a rival NHL team's arena to watch a playoff hockey game and we were cheering for "our team." When the game ended a few guys got in our faces and they were clearly about to start a fight. I reached my hand out and said "good game." They looked confused for a second, shook my hand, turned and walked away. I was probably fortunate that the other team had won the game.

Also the reason you do your mask first is becsuse yiu have 3-5 seconds of useful consciousness at that altitude. "ill hold my breath" wont work because the lack of pressure. Your blood will literally hold less oxygen.

So I know a few that are water related: 1) don't be afraid to put your head in the water or open your eyes under water if you need to. You sometimes will have to in an emergency setting, and being scared to do so will just freak you out more. 2) the reason you are highly recommended to not jump in to save a drowning person is because they will latch on to you and unintentionally pull you down with them. 3) while not as common, experienced water people can drown or be swept off to sea if they are not careful. I have been able to swim since I was like 2.5, and once got a cramp so bad in my leg that I could no longer swim properly. Thankfully this was in a pool and I was surrounded by others, plus I know how to move without the use of my legs, so I was safe, but it can happen to anyone. Always make sure to have a buddy, or at least someone watching your back. 4) the best stroke to use if you are scared of sharks being around you is breaststroke. Not many of a shark's natural prey make those kinds of motion and there's minimal splashing, especially i you're keeping your head above water. 5) the two best techniques to know when in the water are back float and scuttling (pushing your hand back and forth which ultimately helps you move). Treading water is also good to know. 6) while this is more important the deeper you are, go up at the same rate as your bubbles, especially if you are scuba diving. Nitrogen gets compressed in higher pressure, and thus the bubbles will expand at a dangerous rate if you go up too quickly. 7) if you can't get new air into your lungs, instead of just holding the air you already sucked down, slowly release the air you already have. The timing of our breathing is based on the exhale and slowly releasing the held air will give you extra seconds to reach that next pocket of air and save you precious seconds when you are there as you can just start sucking the air down instead of first releasing your breath. 8) Rogue waves are a thing that can happen. Don't turn your back on any body of water big enough to get them. Overall, the water is a powerful thing, not even accounting for all the organisms that live in it. You cannot control it. You cannot beat it. Sometimes, the most you can do is float until you are no longer trapped in a rip tide, and then swim back to shore. Just be calm, relax, and don't turn your back on the ocean.

relating to the cruise control thing, my mom had a ford 500 when i was a kid which had issues with the cruise control system. there ended up being a recall for it because i guess it wasnt an isolated issue. one time, after getting off the highway right behind my aunt, she pulled to a stop, and the car started trying to accelerate at full throttle by itself, cruise control was off at this point. my mom held the brakes as hard as she could, but eventually the car started to creep forward towards the back of my aunt's minivan. in a panic, she calls my aunt and starts screaming about how the car is driving itself and to get out of the way before we hit her. after a couple more seconds of panicking, my mom finally just forces the shifter into park and turns the car off. it was a pretty scary experience without a doubt, just glad my mom didnt fully panic her/our way into a 3 car pileup at the end of this offramp lmao

Story 72 is just goofy. I think if you’re acting like that, not to sound offensive, but shcizoaffective disorder is really common in homeless people I feel like if you’re walking around crazy and yelling at nothing, you’re making yourself look more vulnerable because 1. Mentally ill people are more vulnerable and they will assume you’re not competent enough to even report them and 2. They may assume you’re homeless which is another vulnerability
