Many people have asked to see what is behind the doors. While not themed and generally unfinished, they will become more traditional rooms with the future possibility of being themed. Sorry the video is shaky...

If you don't turn this into a part time air Bn'B when your daughters move out of the rooms then I will cry. I would absolutely stay there for cash moneyyy

600 square feet is an average size for "tiny houses" that can be seen elsewhere on KZbin. That someone can take that small amount of space and create this illusion in a corridor PLUS have livable bedrooms and work areas is simply mind blowing.

I was astonished when you mentioned the rough $5k figure for your materials. I like to make things with my hands too and I was expecting a figure ten times that, easily. And of course you didn't mention a price tag for all of your time and energy!

The Toad ride seems to be a popular spot for modelers. As my grandad created a model of that exact same area (his was 1/10th scale) several years ago. Yay, I've been wanting to see the bedrooms behind those fantastical doors since the first tour. Thanks especially for showing the view of the doors from the inside - it's much fun to imagine having that as a bedroom door. Love them both, especially the more finished room (someone's good at .... gymnastics? I think?) Bring on the winter theming!!!! Maybe some fall/Halloween stuff next year? Wow, you guys could stage the best trick or treat for little kids all in your basement! edit: didn't mean for that to sound so darn creepy! I grew up trick or treating in apartment blocks, if that explains where I was coming from lol :P excellent video

Dance actually, she started when she was 3. I want to do a walkout to the backyard when I finish the kitchenette, so I have considered having a walk-through for Halloween from upstairs to down where the basement would be spooky but fun then out the walkout...

Oh, the kids in your neighbourhood would be boasting all through November - watch out, you'll become a Halloween hotspot! Well done her, what an awesome array. I hope she loves her room, it really is gorgeous. Go dad! Seriously, I totally love this project of yours and your mind for making it happen. I went to Tokyo Disneyland a couple of times when I was a kid and the thing I loved more than the rides or the characters or anything else was the architecture and general theming and design - it really makes you feel transported, sometimes just through a certain curvature or a tiny detail like your Snow White hinges. Bravo, sir and long may your imagineering continue :D

How did you make the railings that line the front of the facades? They look very professional and polished.
@Larzland6 жыл бұрын
They were actually from metal shipping crates that held a Gazebo that my dad bought. I cut them apart so I had straight stock to work with. The curves were figured out and chalked in on the basement floor prior to the curbing. I curved the top and bottom rails so they were identical. I made long vertical pieces for the legs with shorter ones to go between the top and bottom rails. Once it was assembled, it was put in place and anchored to the floor. The railing was used as a guide to make the curbing curve properly in relation to the rail.

@Larzland5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The gate was constructed using photos as reference. The sides where it mounts to the wall are 4x4s that were shaped then cut in half lengthwise. The vertical slats are actually cedar with the patterns to match the real gate. These were made with a paper template to mark the wood then cut with a bandsaw. The square pegs that hold the top bar are poplar. They are tricky to make but I can describe the process if you would like :) The top bar is five pieces assembled then the arch pattern cut from those. All the wood was sandblasted and stained...

Wow! The hinges/accents on the Snow White window are so inspiring - how did you add the Apple etc,? Did you use the same epoxy clay and could you tell us what the name of the clay is? I appreciate all the details, that really takes it to the next level. Please keep posting and thank you in advance🎨🖖🏼
@Larzland6 жыл бұрын
The epoxy clay is called Waterweld. It is from Home Depot. It is a two part putty. You cut off the amount you need, mix it until the color is consistent then apply and tool. The clay I am using at the moment is Chavant NSP medium. It is a sulphur free clay that doesn't inhibit the curing of silicone when silicone is used as the mold material.

That apple is a ball bearing for the body with bondo on the top and bottom which was sculpted. It really didn't need to be metal, but the other detail is so I just went with that...
