Egyptians should get serious . How do you want Ethiopia, where the blue nile originates not to utilise the river and then quote a 1902 treaty to boot? Such arrogance. Ethiopia has EVERY right to use the blue Nile. Current river rights are a gross miscarriage of justice.

Very smart bro! Thank you! Egypt doesn't want the rest of Africa, especially the East Africa to prosper. And, they know this dam will lit the entire East Africa at least. The electricity will power Manufacturing, Transportation, Homes, even Tourism and Agriculture. They don't want us to compete with them. The funny thing is they also know that hydroelectricity does not consume water. All Ethiopia asking Egypt is, to understand that the water can be saved from waste. Loss to evaporation in the desert, loss as overflowing Agricultural villages, loss when it finally flows in-to the Mediterranean sea. Sadly, this is well appreciated by the Egyptians as they continue to build lakes in the middle of the Sahara desert in Africa and in the Sainay desert in Asia as well as a Brand new capital city from this one river. Nile!. .. Now you know the reason! Greed and unfairness in its epic!

God bless you brother, look how much Egyptian politicians trying to confuse the world, we are the source of 86% of the Nile river but Egypt decided against once sovereign country resource by its own that as if 66% of the share is for Egypt, 22% for Sudan and 12% for evaporation, however, they are not allowing us to take a spoon of water just to swallow medication rather they wish us always to be beggars of food from the Western countries. We Ethiopians are too much disappointed that Egyptians act is poisonous and painful for us becouse instead of thanking us they are trying to influence us by running to USA and middle East Arab countries .

The Egyptian bragging about the strength of the Egyptian army in comparison to Ethiopia's military is the epitome of the one eyed man believing he is king amongst the blind. Mohamed Idiot, I was mainly referring to the Italo-Ethiopian war. That was modern warfare with chemical warfare. The only difference to the current context being that Italy was a global power and Egypt isn’t. Who cares how many jets a developing country owns? I don’t think I’m the one with the inferiority complex lol. You keep harping on the size of their respective militaries when most of what Egypt has is overinflated and can’t even be used in Ethiopian land.

That arrogant Egyptian guy should not bring Kenya into this. We stand with our brothers Ethiopia on this matter. Ethiopia has the right to development and should also have rights to not just energy generation but irrigation and other needs too. Egypt is just greedy and selfish. Ever since I was a boy we were told that Egypt has the sole rights to the Nile waters. They can do irrigation and use the water anyhow they, please. While countries upstream have no rights and that they are ready for war even up to DRC Congo. Now countries upstream are waking up and there is no stopping. Egyptians please be polite and negotiate with respect! There must be an equitable share for all.

Here is the irony, this river must be one and only river in the world whereby a downstream non contributor(Egypt) tries to dictate the terms of use...negotiating is one thing but clinging on to a colonial era treaty which didn't involve Ethiopia and did not allocate a single drop of water to the "non Arab" African nations who are sole providers of the entire water is something of political....looking at the Egyptian guest's attitude alone says everything.."we don't trust Ethiopia" he says. meaning his issue isn't really a genuine concern over water shortage but rather a political one, a fear of a black nation taking its well deserved place on a river it contributes over 85% of the entire flow...Egypt's dilemma is that it is a country physically trapped in a continent they so much resent and wish not to be part of, but believe they can maintain the status co by bullying because as the fool said "they are the 9th in the world militarily "..bigotry at its Max..! The bigot says, "it is not your water, it is an international water" yes may be, but there is no international law that says do not touch rain water that rains on your land, just let it flow to Egypt and stay in the dark ...It is even funny this argument about "international water" comes from a country that makes a living out of tempering with nature and connecting two international oceans(sea) and collecting money from every passing ship...the man is typical !.

Yet Egypt has been the aggressor for the longest time and has not realised that it needs to negotiate with others. As for our government, our president loves foreign debt. @Texas Panhandle XIT Ranch you are talking about bussiness ...let me tell you one truth in Ethiopia their are currently 16 million peoples who needs food even for one day .Egyptians have foods to eat thanks to Nile(Abay). And if your goverment wants the farmers to work on their land ,it can stop the river channeling projects which by the way is for Arab kings corporation we are not getting enough food and electricity because we didn't use our resources but now thats got to stop.

As an Ethiopian am proud to witness the calmness and wise responses given By Eng. Gedion (Ethiopian) despite all the disrespect and imprudent comment given towards Ethiopia by the Egyptian delegate . And as i go on the comments i am more proud to be an African while seeing all the support given from Our African brother & sisters... Thank you all lots of Love!!!

The river is not anybody's to claim. Rivers and mountains and all land belong to Allah, their creator. We humans only live on this land temporarily and we are commanded to live in peace and not exploit any of the planet's resources. I wonder if Ethiopia was the country living by the Mediterranean sea, and Egypt was located near the origins of the Nile river, would Ethiopia be happy to suffer the threat of losing thousands of lives due to the draught caused below the huge dam??

@R o I am surprised by your claims against my country's political agenda against Ethiopia! In Islam, if a party or a person throws allegations against another, then the first party is obliged to present its evidence that supports those allegations. I do remember that when the Muslim Brotherhood (a fanatic, racist religion-based cult) ruled Egypt in 2012, they had a live television discussion of how to handle GERD's effect on our society. They suggested fueling ethnic conflicts within the Ethiopian society, among other disgraceful ideas that made our society so ashamed and disappointed. By the end of the same year, the Egyptian nation rose against this horrible blood-thirsty group of people and ousted them from our social and political lives. Today, I assure you that our political leadership is the opposite to the brotherhood in every aspect. We bear nothing but honest hopes for Ethiopia's successful renaissance. All we are looking for is a written agreement from the Ethiopian government that gives us a reassurance that GERD will not degrade our environmental and water welfare.

@@janissary69 ikrrrrr, n the treaty is not even between egypt and ethiopia, it's between ethiopia and england (the colonizer of egypt). Even if Ethiopia needed permission (which it clearly does not!!), it would not be from egypt, it would have been from the country who signed it at that time which is England but England has no reason at all to involve in this and even if it wanted to, we are no longer in the colonization era; therefore, that colonialist treaty does not work.

Go for it ETHIOPIA! Its your right to do whatever benefits your country, ETHIOPIA. Egypt should get rid of their colonial ideologies (that's how Africans see them) and improve their agricultural standards to limit the rumored damages. 🤷‍♂️

19:30 Answer: It's an emotional issue because we want to change, and Egypt is acting childish. Abay (Blue Nile) is 100% Ethiopian water. Soon we will be starting more projects to feed our people and then you'll learn what a fair share is.
