Best and easiest prep instructions I received were from a young doc this year from Newport Beach, basically he gave me custom instructions for two sessions, both sessions used an entire bottle of miralax (I used with apple juice) and the custom dosing and timing instructions from my doc. It was tasteless and worked perfectly. When I went to a 2nd doc for a follow up scope later this year I actually used the 1st docs prep instructions rather than using the 2nd docs. (2nd docs prep used the pre-made stuff you pick up from the pharmacy) I have a weak stomach and get nausea easily, the tasteless miralax and apple juice was a real game changer for me. The irony is the 2nd doc commented over and over about how amazing I did with my prep. I never told him that I didn't use his process lol.

Ha! That does sound easy. I wonder why they didn’t give us a choice of what to use or how to get it. For mine, they gave me a sheet of paper saying you need to call this number to order the meds and they’ll mail them to you. For Chris’, he told them he wanted the liquid sent to our pharmacy. Next time, I’ll know we have a say in it and not let them decide for me. And, I’ll ask about the Miralax:)

Thanks for the helpful info, but I feel strongly that you should have told your doctor what you took and how much better it was than the standard gross stuff. Doctors need to know there’s a better alternative so other patients don’t have to suffer as much.

@@TheMidlifeRide it went great!! It was not bad at ALL. The aftertaste is what got me a bit, but sucking on a lemon right after each sip really helped. It cleared me out and I was ready to go! I’d say the toughest part was having to wake up at 2 am to do it all over again since I just wanted to sleep. They ended up removing 7 polyps from my stomach, 1 from my colon, and doing various biopsies :). My procedure was an upper endoscopy/colonoscopy. Results should come back within a week! Fingers crossed it all comes back okay! 💗

My procedure is on 12 August 2024. My hospital sent me a link to your KZbin channel, which I found very informative. I have 2 packets of MOVIPREP that include packets A and B (4 packets in total), and I must follow the hospital instructions on how to take the moviprep and not the information enclosed in the packets. I didn’t get a nap the last time I had my colonoscopy. They gave e versed and Benadryl. Benadryl doesn’t make me sleepy. Opposite effect. So I was awake, and hurting. I felt it and was yelling at them to give me something. I swear I’m never doing it again.

OMG! There is a pill! Why didn’t the doctor tell me this was an option? I had the same prep as Chris, and it had a horrible to me. I felt so nauseous! I couldn’t finish the first bottle; I had to reschedule my colonoscopy. Thank you for sharing this information!!!

You’re welcome! I hope the pills are an option for you. Definitely ask. They can be a bit expensive if you don’t have insurance coverage (we have a HDHP.) Our pharmacy wanted to charge me $168 for them. Luckily, my doctor’s office partners with a mail order pharmacy called gifthealth and it only cost me $60.

I did the Suprep for the first time last week. I needed a water chaser to help me drink the prep.i found it lass harsh than the big boy Golytee. That was really nasty. I was the first appointment of the day. The second dose needed to be started around 2:30. I was a In a hospital setting. I got in early and left less than an hour later. I watched the whole thing! Keep those important appointments. They could save your life! Great video.

Unfortunately, I had colon cancer and because I had the Lynch Syndrome, I have to do colonoscopy for the rest on my life every two years. Every year the prep gets worse. I know my own body and I do it my way now. The only thing I can tolerate is banana ice pops that I can only find at Walmart.

I've only done the Suprep and GoLyte(lee) stuff. At least for me and maybe because I'm an avid fisherman and have handled thousands of Chinook (king) salmon, the GoLyte staff literally tasted like the smell of salmon slime. Yuck. 2nd time around, I went with the Suprep and mixed it with a little Ginger Ale and a little Crystal Light powered lemonade. Not bad. Very doable and no hint of salmon slime on the Suprep. Took about 30 minutes to take effect and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you install a bidet toilet seat! :) I literally just sat on the toilet for 1.5 hours (each round) and listed to an audiobook for each of the 2 rounds of Suprep. They found another polyp so I get to go back in 5 years again. I have 5 years to install power in the bathroom and get one of those fancy Japanese heated bidet seats with all the bells and whistles.

Thank you so much for this informative video! I myself am about to endeavour the colonoscopy journey and im bricking it!! I'm 43 and I've been experiencing some changes in my 'habits' for quite a while now as well as a lot of other symptoms like abdo pain, tiredness, EXTREMELY pale, etc. Ive been severely iron deficient for years now which has resulted in me taking a high dose of iron for around 4 or 5 years. I tried so many different types of iron but they all irritated my tummy badly. Finally tried the one im on now and though i still get tummy pain after taking it its so much more tolerable. I have also been deficient in vitaminD and B12 for a couple of years with no known cause. This year ive had some pretty heavy bleeding. Last week i had a really bad bout and was passing large clots too. Went to Gp last Wednesday and she was very concerned over the time span in which i had waited to see a doctor 😬. She did an exam and felt my abdomen. Unfortunately she did feel a mass but reassured me it could be innocent. I had so much blood drawn that day, checking for all sorts. I was also referred on a 2 week cancer diagnosis referral pathway so that im seen quickly at the hospital. Since the referral some of my bloods have come back. Im now on 5mg of folic acid daily for at least 4 months because my folate was very low. My Ovarian test was also very abnormal. The ca-125 markers came back abnormally very high. To say im scared is an understatement. I have since received a phone call from the hospital saying i need an urgent colonoscopy next friday so will have my pre op appointment with the nurse at the hospital this Sunday morning. Im dreading the bowel prep! I can't take anything in the least bit salty, i vomit if i try to take soluble aspirin! I am really hoping they will offer me the tablet form! Anyway, thank you for helping to ease my worries over the procedure 😊

In Jan. 2021, I had the same procedure. I did the GO Lytely prep. Very harsh. Try lemon ices instead of Jello.

Ooh, lemon ice would be good. They did not give us very many options and it seems like every clinic out there has a different set of instructions and allowable foods. That part was kinda frustrating. I just read about GoLytely. That definitely seems more difficult than the Suprep.

I’m doing the Sutab in 3 days. I usually have had the miralax with Gatorade prep. I HATE that prep. I begged for the pills. The miralax prep is too thick for me. And it’s too much liquid. I can never get the morning dose completed fully. I get very naseous. Hoping this pills go down ok. 🤞🏽

Good luck! Our doctor said if you take the pills too quickly, you can get nauseous. Also, if you drink carbonated beverages. Listen to your body and take them slower, if necessary.

I have had 3 colonoscopies. 1 every 5 years. 1st time, I had to have a gallon on yuck. The other two times, two bottles of medicine. Ie. A. take 2 laxatives at 5 pm B. Drink 1st bottle at 6 pm. Drinking 5 eight ounce servings of clear liquid C. Drink 2nd bottle at 1 am. Drinking 3 eight ounce servings of clear liquid Stopping liquids 2 hours before procedure. I really was supposed to drink the 2nd bottle at 4 am because my procedure was at 11:30 am, but I wanted to get as much sleep as i could in the morning and work around others' need for the bathroom. This last prep, last week, my medicine was cranberry flavored. I wish it was not flavored at all. It made me gag just from the taste.

Love your video from both of you guys. It was a real view on what to expect. Question after the procedures were you both so groggy afterward that, honestly , you couldn't possibly have driven yourself home?

We weren’t groggy at all. Our doctor uses Propofol, which doesn’t cause the same side effects as some other drugs (drowsiness, loss of memory, etc.). Still, it is not recommended to drive, conduct legal matters, etc. until the next day. I had an hour and a half work meeting as soon as I got home and was perfectly fine. It’s like taking a power nap!

At least you get easy prep....we still have that annoying GALLON of prep to drink.... disgusting and virtually makes you nauseous. But like all preps it's not like you're up all night on the toilet.... it's shortlived.... there's only so much in a body.... colonoscopy is nothing... takes longer to get set-up at the hospital or facility than the procedure itself. I was awake for mine but they sedate you so no pain or anything.

However, if the doctor’s office gave us permission, it can’t be that big of a deal. We did intend that to be a joke and did not expect them to say yes. I got one coming up. The last one was inconclusive. I wasn't cleaned out and I followed directions to a tea. This time I'm doing MiraLAX one dose per day a week prior. The day before I do four Dulcolax tabs at 4 PM and at 6 PM I start drinking thegallon of prescription prep. Hopefully this time will be a good one.

I had mine Tuesday and omg I am in so much pain and have stomach pain. The drink for the prep was disgusting the instructions said to drink it within two hours and I definitely couldn’t sipped it all day and that was the hardest part. I have such a small appetite so not eating didn’t affect me but wow I really hope I never have to do this again.

We’re not doctors, but it’s probably not a good idea to have alcohol during this prep. The box specifically said no alcohol. So, even though the clinic said yes, we did not drink any.

I have had five colonoscopies over the years. I found I don’t like the SuTabs. 12 tablets is a lot to take and try to swallow. They don’t tell you to drink enough water. So it took forever to get things moving. I would rather do the big jug and put some margarita mix in it and chill it then drink with a big straw. Yes. I have heard you can add margarita mix to the big jug to make it easier to drink.

I have my 1st one after 69 years of life, coming up on 2/21, and they have me doing the Miralax/Gatorade prep...but I think I'm going to ask my PCP to give me a script for the Suprep!! Drinking the water is no sweat for me, as I drink 6 bottles a day as it is! And the Jello or popsicles or even apple juice will work too!!

If you do the drink. It’s not the worst taste, but it’s kinda salty. I did 8oz every 15 minutes. Started @ 5pm the night before, & stopped after 1/2 the jug was done. Woke up to finish the rest the next morning. Keep the liquid as cold as possible. It lessens the taste. Mask it w/a 🍋 too. The actual colonoscopy procedure is the easiest part.

I have had colonoscps since 2008, two pre cancerous polyps removed, so i have had more colonosps. With golytely...this time the utab pills. Doc office gave me a coupon got pill prep for 60 instead of 200 bucks at normal cost. Liquid preps were giving me m8grains, so trying this way. The c is scheduled dec 14..i have ibs..hemrhoids ...gatorade makes the zero dr8nk now...zero sugar...the clear whitish one is cherry flavored tastes so good i will be drinking that also.. the pill route is new for me my gi doc uses the sutab, he says it cleans way better than the old prep way. These colonoscopies so important , and very important to have even for ibs my mom passed from years of ibs problems and colon surgery, so i know how importantcit is...ibs flare ups can be dangerous. I was adopted, so ibs not inherited in genes from adopted. mother.

Just had my first near 2 weeks ago. The cold enhanced the flavor of the prep (Lime: cloyingly sweet and artificial; disgusting). Drinking it at room temp was much easier. The worst part was the low fiber diet (so much starch: yuck) this vegetarian ate 5 days from the event and passing the prep (took 3 hours). I was scared I would get up from the toilet and make a mess. Sometimes I'd think I was done; I'd clean up, straighten my back to get up and more prep would start pouring out of me. My procedure was at 9:30 am (I got there at 8:00 am (Winter) and left at 11:15 am (Spring)) and I had to stop drinking midnight the night before. It was my first time getting an IV, and I was so thirsty I felt great after the IV solution hit me. I wore an N-95 mask, and the group did not look after me (my mask slipped and rested on my eyeball during the procedure). My eye was blazingly irritated, and it took 2 days to fully clear up the irritation.

I for the life of me can't imagine you saying Suprep© wasn't that bad. That stuff tastes like you stuck a straw into the ocean with a hint of grape taste. It was a 100% mind over matter to get that stuff down. On top of that you have to take another 2 bottles of water. In total that's 48 ounces for round one, then do it all again several hours later for round two. The next time (3 yrs later), I took Plenvu©. While not quite as bad, to me anyways it was far better than Suprep. PLUS, you only have to add 1 - NOT TWO- extra water bottles. So, 32 oz in total each round was far easier and the doc said it was a near perfect clean out, given it's the human version of Drano.

I’ve been feeling sick for a month and finally got an appointment with the GI yesterday and tomorrow I have a colonoscopy, I’ve had the liquid prep 3 times and hated it, gagging 🤢. This one I have 24 tablets Sutab and 4 or 5 16 oz of water , within 1.5 hrs I was in the bathroom, tomorrow morning 4am and same thing so hopefully everything works out in the morning

You have to be finished 2 hours before arrival time, right? I think we couldn’t have anymore water 2 hours before arrival. Yeah, by the second dose, you should be pretty well cleaned out (assuming you followed their low residue diet for the previous 5 days and only had clear liquids the day before). So, it’s not as bad and doesn’t last as long as the first dose (in our experience.) 2 hours was plenty of time. Plus, if they make you wait as long as we did, you’ll have time to hit the restroom when you get there, if necessary.

I did suprep a few months ago, by the time I got to in to do my test I could barely able to walk I was so sick. I will never do that again. My Dr wants me to do a follow up, not if I have to drive suprep. Take into acct I am high risk due to my severe COPD. Whatever prep you do Good luck.

I’ve done the liquid prep twice. I absolutely hated it. I’m in the Uk and it’s all we’re offered. I had to drink about two litres of vile salty sweet stuff that made me vomit in the end. Urgh. If I have to get it done again I’d rather pay £100 for the tablets than take that other stuff. Anyway, I had two polyps removed which were both fine so that’s good to know. Didn’t resolve my original problem but at least I know it’s not cancer.

No. I didn’t have any issues. When I told the doctor I took them faster than their recommendation, he said it’s fine to do whatever you can handle. The recommendation was made because taking them faster may cause vomiting. Thanks for watching and for the question:)

If pills are an option for you, definitely give them a try. Just go slow and avoid carbonated beverages-our doctor said they can cause nausea during prep. I don’t think I could handle the liquid either.

I had mine last week, was surprised at how long you had to go to the bathroom, I was in there from 5.30pm till after midnight, non stop, and still going the next day on the way there. I also had to drink a lot more, I had the powder mixture, had to drink 2 litres with it, then 500ml inbetween, I felt like I was drowning.

I had my first colonoscopy today! I opted for the pills. Just FYI, you can have orange, lime, or lemon jello or popsicles. I was also told I could drink clear sodas. I was starving until I started the pills. After the pills, I couldn’t eat anything! About 1/2 hour later, I was pooping my guts out, every few minutes. Just like peeing out my butt. That lasted 4 hours!!!! I finally slept for a hour and a half until I had to start the next round of pills! I got 6 pills down, and I just couldn’t take anymore! I had to be at the doctors appointment at 7:45. I was ok on the drive there, but as soon as I got there, I had to run to the bathroom and let er rip again! It was like straight water by then. Then before the colonoscopy, I had to go one more time. Let me tell yall, my butthole was so dang sore!! Here’s the weird thing, afterwards, it wasn’t sore hardly at all! I went home, ate, then took a nap. When I woke up, my right hip hurt so much, it felt bruised to the bone. I guess they used my hip to move me around during the colonoscopy. It’s 11pm now, my hip still hurts, but not quite as bad. Thank God, I don’t have to go back for 10 years!!! ❤️❤️💩💩💩💩💩

Ugh! I have to drink the Clenpiq for a 1st time colonoscopy. I did the Cologard in 2018 which came bk abnormal...I didn't do a follow up. I know, dumb! I did another Cologard last month...abnormal. Just thinking about drinking the prep makes me nauseous! It's supposedly cranberry flavor...I don't like cranberries 😂 I have issues swallowing anything over the size of an Advil mini so those horse pills are out of the question! We aren't in medieval times...why can't they come up with a better, more palatable prep??? A lot more people would go for their colonoscopy if so. While still at the doctor's office I asked them if i could have lemon water ice and they said absolutely. I also asked that seeing chicken broth is on the list could i have the broth portion of Campbell's chicken noodle soup and they said yes, just strain out the noodles etc. That sounds more appealing than plain old broth! My prep is to start at 6pm the night before then 2nd dose at 1am because my appt is 9am. I guess I will get my sleep during the colonoscopy!

Hi ! Thank you for the helpful info! had to start with colonoscopies at age 40 due to family colon cancer death. I haven’t had one since 2019 and it’s in two days age 65 now so all liquid tomorrow. In past I have done the Gatorade with the Mirolax and nauseous beyond and pray the suprep won’t have those side effects. I have to take it second time like you did morning of colonoscopy I guess around 6:30 am? Then leave at 11 am for a 1.5 hour drive to doctor and pray no issues in car! Oh one thing did you have to drink Gatorade for electrolytes ? Thanks
