I feel like thats a pretty legit assumption that 5% of the population would only date a foreigner in a country with solely one nationality. As many wouldn't want to date on the basis of cultural values and also language barrier so it makes sense. But, the kinda people that foreigners surround themselves with and generally make friends within these countries where the culture is vastly different from their own are likely going to make friends with locals that fit into this 5% and therefore be more open. Thus, making a synthetic inflation of this number from the observers point of view.

@BigSister_CertifiedMaestra20243 жыл бұрын
@@chickenman2949 Of course. American pop remains number 1. I'm just surprised how easy it is for the U.S to promote Kpop when they could just produce more American music videos and monopolize the internet to remain superior. At first, it gave me cringe when a world-power nation started joining the Kpop hype and play safe with this Asianbaiting.. I mean of course, America is still the home of legendary and iconic artists who started and invented pop on this planet. But with what's happening and the slowly-deteriorating produce of new American artists, it will no longer be shocking if the next generation would see POP as simply "Korean" as that's the first thing the young ones would see on the media. In fact, it's slowly happening now. Some younger delusional fans would claim that BTS choreo is all original when in fact it has 75% Western influences. The kids in my neighborhood would quickly say "Kpop" when they see a sort of fashion that's colorful, stylish and when they hear random auto-tune instrumentals in some gatherings. Seriously, Hollywood needs to wake up.

Hello Asian Boss. This topic covering American experiences in Japan, Korea and China is much better than your previous topic of ‘Why do Americans live in…?’ It was more dynamic and had more energy than your previous topic covering the American in Japan experience. I think your interviewees represented the Japan dating experience fairly well. Dating outside of Tokyo, however, is very different. The language barrier is the biggest challenge. A highly schedule driven (and excessive) work culture is another reason. Many Japanese are conformist and view foreigners as ‘other-worldly’, so they’re either afraid, shy or reluctant to interact with foreigners on even a surface level. For many Japanese, they don’t see it as realistic to even meet a foreigner. This is largely due to lack of access and language and cultural barriers. For those who are surprised by the number of Americans who live in Japan, it is not a large number. There are roughly 50,000 Americans in Japan, a country of 125 million people. A high concentration of Americans live in Tokyo, a city of 36 million people.

Japanese bathing culture is definitely something that is a struggle for many Americans 😂 I think most Americans are like "why would I take a bath daily?" and finding out that that is the norm in Japan can be quite shocking. Another thing I learned when I went to college in Japan, is that the Japanese students would always shower at night, and were puzzled about why the Westerners would always shower in the morning. The dorm cleaning ladies came in the morning and it was always weird to us that they would come clean at the most high-traffic time when everyone was getting ready for their day. Once a Japanese friend explained that most people shower at night, it made a lot more sense to me.
