Great work, That was really interesting and far different than I first expected. Japanese women seem far more approachable than women in England. Culture will be different in many ways, but there will be similarities to, I feel learning a new culture grows you as a person Values I’d like to think would be similar, a few differences due to culture maybe but good people normally have good values. Language yes that’s an obstacle and initially could be awkward, but obstacles can be overcome if your willing. Really need to visit Japan, so much to see and learn. Stay safe and well 👍

As someone who lived in Japan, I can tell you it's so~~ hard to get close to Japanese girls let alone dating them (and I could speak Japanese well enough). They might be saying things like that, but only few would be willing to date a foreigner in reality. Among those who do, many will do it for superficial reasons such as showing off to friends or learning a foreign language. There's also the stereotype about foreign men who just want to play around and~ since Japanese men are very passive and don't show their feelings, no matter how slow you take it, it will still feel like you're too proactive for some girls.

Even knowing about the traditional squat toilet, (and I did a University course of Japanese and the culture too) it had not occurred to anyone to mention which way you face when using it. I'm sorry, but this is a remark that has nothing to do with the comment above. But let me say it to the foreigners watching this video. As a 21 year old Japanese woman, I can tell you one thing. Japanese never tell their true feelings to someone they meet for the first time. They only say things about foreigners that don't hurt anyone and aren't their true feelings, especially in videos that many foreigners are likely to see. This is called “Tatemae”. I know this very well. That's why I'm surprised that so many foreigners take this interview seriously. In fact, most Japanese living in Japan have a bad image of Westerners for many reasons such as asian discrimination, craggy face and manners.
@xxportalxx.
@xxportalxx. Жыл бұрын
@@mana68578 old comment ik, but I have to say I'm not surprised. In general Asians aren't particularly attractive to westerners either (obviously there's exceptions, like models and actors, or random personol preference ofc), especially Asian men (the stereotype of them having tiny packages and poor emotional skills don't help). Western men tend to prefer woman with, ahem, plump rear ends, Asian woman tend to have a downward shifted pelvis resulting in an undesirable shape to westerners. Western men also tend to prefer large breasts (with the stereotype being that Asian woman are flat). That said there are a lot of western men that marry Asian woman, but this is typically a different form of relationship wherein the woman is from a poor Asian country (like thailand) and therefore has less equality in the relationship (typically they handle all of the housework for instance, something many western woman no longer put up with).

@まな "" This is hilarious in relation to hypocrisy, lol. It's like japan has no discrimination. U literally proved the discrimination, craggy face, and manners. Manners are cultural differences. Western culture has different ways in comparison to japan for one. It is a great example of slurping ur food, which is considered rude in some western places, but it is considered rude not to slurp in japan. Ur comparison is so irrelevant.

I am Japanese. We Japanese have a culture that does not praise ourselves but praises organizations other than ourselves. For example, even if I or our family are praised by others, there is a social decree saying, "No, that's not the case." Japanese women in particular tend not to speak their true intentions. In fact, international marriages among Japanese are significantly lower than in other countries, with Japanese women accounting for less than one-third of Japanese men. Honne and tatemae culture is difficult for Japanese also. Even for me as a Japanese, it is easier to communicate with foreigners that express their thoughts frankly. 😂

As an Australian kid who was able to interact with and even host Japanese exchange students back in the early 2000's, I can say that communication barrier is the biggest hurdle. We find your women as attractive as apparently your women find our men attractive. But relationships are ALL about communication and teamwork. Whilst many western men might find the idea of dating a woman who doesn't speak a lot of English appealing, unless both parties are committed to learning each other's language, marriage and family would be impossible
@justinw1765

We come here to grow spiritually but sadly most will never understand that. I'm by no means there or even close but life about progress, not perfection. Well in all honesty... Japanese guys usually are a bit shy about expressing their romantic feelings with a lot of passion. So I don't think they are really trying to roast them on purpose, but just mentioning an aspect about our culture that they seem to appreciate a lot. I've heard girls from different cultures say the same thing about Japanese guys, I think it's just a matter of cultural difference. She called BS! After seeing about a dozen people that waved over the course of driving for 30 minutes, she finally concluded that I really didn't know any of those people. She said, "When I tell my friends back home they're not going to believe me." She was right, they didn't believe her. People in Baltimore are so unfriendly...that's one of the reasons she's now my ex-wife. You should've heard me trying to explain about the hump on a Brahma bull she pointed out. Whenever I see a common trope in anime I want to look it up and see how much truth is in it. Japanese history is also interesting. It seem like most other countries also learn about other countries history too but as an American you only learn American history so all that other stuff you learn on your own time. American history is a bit of a roller coaster on it's own with being a multicultural country so learning about how history plays out in a country with generally a single ethnicity is fascinating.

@STENNELER Jérémy Yeah agree. Show interest and be grateful for what you attend to... "Country you go, customs you find". And about living for 2 months ye, you would need a lot of money. The smartest way Is going there for studying in a international school and meanwhile living in a Japanese family and also completely avoiding people who speak your mother tongue.

@STENNELER Jérémy wow, very instructive! But in the end no wonder that in Japan Is like this: most of the countries in the world have really strict immigration rules (I am from Switzerland and Is not so easy to move here). the moral of the story Is "pick up your ass and work it out", like in every place of the world (If you are an immigrant).

@STENNELER Jérémy A good way is to work for a multi-national with a significant Japanese presence or a straight-out Japanese company. Then get assigned/seconded. They help you find a place to live (many places won't rent to foreigners without guarantors), probably language lessons and of course, the 2 months limit is no longer a problem.

@STENNELER Jérémy Is there no demand for French teachers? I'm sure you're aware of the Abroad in Japan KZbin channel - but that is of course another English teacher. Surely there is demand for languages besides English and Chinese in Japan? If anything, I would have expected an over-supply of English giving you a better chance with French.

I know you're joking but I want to add to it. (I lived in Japan for a year.) I think people say that this or that "is important in a partner" and then they meet someone who is the opposite of their "Type" and they're into them anyway or it's the other way around and what they thought would be important to them is actually irrelevant and they're not attracted at all. Like the "needs to take his shoes of in bed" or "doesn't know how to use the bathroom" girl.... besides me having trouble respecting their opinions of anything if THAT is what came to their mind first and they're being serious about it, they really have no idea what they actually want. I don't even want to get to know these two because I already know, they seem so incredibly naive about what actually matters. In the end, when it comes to dating and preference, Japanese don't much differ from other countries. Attractiveness, a considerate personality, a sound mind, a regular income or a good outlook to the future, a sense of humor are universally attractive. Woman OR Man. If you're severely lacking any one or more of these traits in ANY country (besides maybe a sense of humor), you will have a harder time finding a partner. It's basically the bar to clear. And after that it's more or less, what you have in common in terms of hobbies, things to talk about or expectations of a possible live together. Only when it actually get's serious, outside pressures come into it. A friend of mine wanted to marry his Japanese girlfriend or at least it was heading that way, but the parents were just extremely xenophobic and had enough power of the girl that she basically moved home to her parents and suddenly stopped talking to him, so the relationship was over. Which is INSANE but it happens more often than you would think. Having a foreign boyfriend when you're around 20 is cute and all but if it gets serious at all, you are often at the mercy of the parents and it can be an issue of the Japanese partner having to decide to never talk to their "disappointed" parents again. The guy I was talking about earlier eventually met another woman and they are married now but the parents, who are EXTREMELY wealthy disapprove of her choice and they didn't pay anything for the wedding and she's basically disowned. So that societal family pressure is insane. If you're taking your Japanese girlfriend/wife home to your country better make sure, she has really good language skills and is REALLY of an "international mind" because I have many friends who did exactly that (married a girl and moved back home with her) and a lot of the time the partner gets really homesick or unhappy because of the isolation at home. They need to be willing to take up some kind of work/job, not because of financial considerations but so they get out, acquire language skills besides talking to their partner in the evening (which will probably happen in Japanese most of the time.) and just integrate. Otherwise I can basically guarantee that after a couple years they will want to move back home to Japan or try anything else to escape the eventual loneliness.
