Hi Rachel, the grandkids are so cute. You are making great memories with them! Looking forward to your starter being successful and what you will do with it. I've tried that recipe and it works! Hope yours turns out! Karla in Cali.

Thank you Karla. I've never been much of a baker so I'm pretty nervous about the sourdough!

I'm going to try your meatloaf recipe! Grandbaby is too cute! I miss cooking with my kids and my daycare kids. They just soak up the info and make them like the food more

Sausage and cabbage looked good. If ever in such a pinch again, there are many easy syrup recipes out there. My mom made it all the time when we were kids and it was especially yummy when just made as you had WARM syrup. It was like the syrup in bottles (not maple but just regular syrup) but better. There are also butter toffee syrups with like two ingredients. Most take standard household ingredients. The blueberries looked good though and good thinking but I'd just have made syrup. You must be a saint because I could never live with meatloaf with cream of crap on it. They would have to have it on the side if they wanted a chance of having it and add their own I would NOT put it over the entire meatloaf. I make an awesome meatloaf and I can't imagine ruining it with that. Not meant to be offensive lol I see no reason that could not be served warm on the side for those that want it to add it. Why shouldn't everyone be happy... If it were me the only way they'd be getting that is if they wanted to make it, Lol. Or I'd split it in two at least. I don't top mine with anything but bacon.
