Two years ago we went to the Spinrite tent sale in Washington, NC, and watched multiple Wal-Mart tractor trailers entering and exiting. Spinrite manufactures yarns for Yarnspirations...in other words, Bernat, Caron, Red Heart, etc.

This practice is common with just about everything. For instance, your store brand bread will be made by one of the nearby name brand bread companies. Same goes for milk, eggs, cereal, clothing, etc. Sometimes the ingredients differ slightly, but basically it is the same thing with a different label. That is why I laugh at people that "poo poo" Walmart and generic brands because the stuff they buy from their malls is made from the exact same stuff in the exact same factory in the exact same country. The only difference is if you buy it in a shopping mall, you have to pay extra for their rent and overhead. If you buy it from Walmart it's less expensive because Walmart is smart enough to cut out the middle man and sell things in less of a fancy venue.

I just used the Walmart brand this past winter for a customer who wanted faceclothes made out of it she loved them and I am seeing many that are the same just different labels and color names one that sticks in my head is the cotton cream and a premier yarn

Crystal, these "same-yarn" videos are some of my favorite videos you do. I am older and live over an hour from yarn stores so even pre-virus did not get to do comparison shopping. Loved that when younger and able to browse. I crochet gifts for all the kids and grandkids yearly so use A LOT of yarn. Your videos of this type help me use limited retirement budget wisely. But also, I just love them because I love yarn comparisons!

When I shop for yarn (even tho most times I can't buy it haha) I can look at a yarn and say, oh yeah, that's chain spun yarn. And her teaching is phenomenal. She shows us exactly where to put the next stitch, and her camera is excellent how it shows closeups so we can see what she's doing. She takes the time to show us how to crochet the pattern and doesn't rush thru it. I also love that she tells us the yarn she's using, the stitch multiple, etc. She's the best! 💜✌🦋 xo P.S and ur right, when her and Erik are on together, they always make me laugh 😅.

Yes I’ve seen the same yarns with different labels... Premier Puzzle & One of the Loops and threads yarns are the same but some of the colors are different... But as you said it is pretty common... I was excited when I saw Walmart was carrying their label version of I love this cotton... Really really wish they would carry it in more colors!!!

Isn't Hobby Lobby's cotton called I love this cotton? I like Hobby Lobby's cotton. I returned my cotton yarn back to Walmart because it was obviously used, someone tried it and didn't like it. It had pieces, I started to make my chain and got about forty chains and the yarn was cut. Tried with what I thought was the rest of the yarn and only got to 25 chains, third try and I had had it, I took it back and showed them the yarn was cut. The girl started to unwind and pull the yarn and it was like a sick joke, the whole skein was cut indifferent sized pieces. I don't always trust getting yarn at my Walmart after that incident.

As someone on a tight budget, this video REALLY helps me. Thank you so much! For those who want to dye their own, fill a glas jar with ammonia and put copper (the metal) in it. Then put your yarn in for no more than 15 minutes and rinse. You now have teal colored yarn.

I have found other companies that Carry the same yarns only under each their own label. Thank you for sharing, I definitely have learned a lot about fibers, etc from you so now I'm in the know. I have memory issues also. I Put a piece of paper in front of me all the time. Jot down what you said you would do,then when your done,go to your list and bam !! You didn't have to remember cause I wrote it down. Just something that had helped a great deal ! Thank you for the great video.

Thanks for the video, Crystal. It makes sense that yarn companies would do the exact yarn but different labels. Food companies do it as well. You can get a store brand product and it's made in the same place that the more expensive big brand product comes from. I really appreciate the info.

Thank you for the yarn review, would love to see a bag made with this yarn. I think premier makes/supplies a lot of yarn for "store" brands. I find the same thing in the supermarket when I buy a store brand food that tastes like the name brand.
