Shapesmith's a Martian who, when one of the astronauts got taken over by the sequids, took the chance to hitch a ride back to Earth in his place (clearly without having learned anything about the place). Of course, though, that meant that the original astronaut got stranded on Mars, allowing the sequids (who can't take over Martians because of their shapeshifting) to form a hive mind and overpower the Martians. And, from what we saw, they've now got a spaceship, which means they'll soon be infesting other planets, probably starting with Earth.
@dan7564 Жыл бұрын
Thank you, that whole sequence confused me. I wasn't sure what the show was trying to convey.
@Zack_Zander Жыл бұрын
That Martian, or more specifically the Shapesmith probably just wanted to escape Mars, which also doomed his entire race in the process. I don’t think the Martian had any intention with invading Earth, just that they have their own problem dealing with Sequid which would be more of a problem if humans from Earth were to become victim… Which was what happened… In a way, it wasn’t Mark’s fault, but that one Martian that wanted to escape.

When I saw in s1 the flag move I knew we were going to get a Martian back into the mix, and now s2 is here
@mbpoblet Жыл бұрын
@@Enter_Zoneless _Seriously,_ I don't know how so many people misunderstood him as a sequid. Martians are intelligent individuals who can shapeshift, sequids are small not very intelligent critters who _can't_ shapeshift but can take over larger beings (though not Martians, due to their ability to shaeshift) and, when the being they're parasitizing is smart enough, form intelligent hive-minds composed of themselves and any surrounding sequids. They're _nothing_ alike, and the only thing they've got in common is that they're aliens, and they both were on Mars when we first saw them (the sequids due to having crashed there at some unspecified point in the past, they aren't even native to Mars).

Yeah, Invincible is kind of like a love letter to the comics. It takes concepts from every type of comic, mashes them together, and explores other options and other possibilities for characters. Often in new, exciting ways, and more realistic ways. The multiverse stuff is definitely taken from other comics, just like the rest of the series.

Angstrom’s plan was to find himself in every other universe he could, absorb their memories while staying aware of which memories were his and which were the others, and then decipher which universes needed what the most (cures for diseases, ways to feed the masses, any advanced technology, etc) in order to match that universe with one that had that resource or understanding.

@@juanjogrimaldos7463 I just rewatched the scene where Angstrom explains his plan and honestly it’s very vague about whether he meant he’d go to other words in his universe or all other worlds in all other universes. Either way, it seems like he’d have dealt with Viltrumites as a challenge to their empire.

All the titles of the episodes are from lines in the original comic. This one is from the comic continuity's version of the Atlantean Punishment story. Where he _really was_ forced to marry the Queen...and _yes, really,_ was expected to have sex with her. _In front of her subjects in a culturally significant and deeply revered symbolic ritual._ Mark was, understandably, _not thrilled_ at the concept.

About the multiverse thing, I think DC has been doing it a lot more, even before the MCU started doing it. The Arrowverse actually did multiverse-centric crossovers before Marvel started the Multiverse Saga. In DC’s comics, the multiverse has been a big part of the mythos since at least the 80s, where it was collapsed into one universe but later brought back, and since then it’s stuck around in various forms. Marvel’s comics has a multiverse of its own, but it feels more like an afterthought done to include the versions of their movies and TV shows (in this multiverse, the MCU is called Earth-19999)

Atom Eve's father was right in this regard. Some rules are there to protect people and just using her powers without foresight could have far reaching repercussions. She over-stepped and got people hurt. The same with making a golden apple, some things can't be achieved via shortcuts. It's one of the reasons Cecil stopped Mark from trying to push the Washington monument up. Mark could just make it worse. It seems Cecil is preparing for war with the Viltrumites. Hopefully he's well prepared when they come in.
