This news article didn't analyze the numbers fully. The article said that 2019 the Greens got 71 seats, however in 2019 the UK was in the EU, so some of those seats would have gone to UK Greens. In order to understand how the change in seats reflects a change in attitudes you also need to explain the Brexit effect of the UK Greens disappearing, and how that effects the numbers. OK it's not going to explain the entire loss of (71 - 54), 17 seats, but it's a factor to consider.

The reson for the greens in Sweden going back I believe is because they make life more expensive and more doffcult for peopel who live outside the three biggest cities. Many reasons. Petrol prices, regulations for hydorelectric dams, regulatons for weapons & hunting, how many wolves we should have, regulations for farmers etc. And a big one is implementing a law while they were in the government which made nuclearpower unprofitable. They implemented a tax which in practice only applied to nucelar power plants which lead to higher prices on electricity. The greens are killing themselves outside Stockholm in Sweden.

The issue is a "green Europe" wouldn't solve climate change at all, since Europe is a minor polluter compared to US, China and India. On the other hand, if we push hard on these policies and others don't follow, we lose economic competivity. So, what's for?
@Klote32415 ай бұрын
That is not actually true tho. regardless if we do it for climate change or not most of those programs are programs that make sure we are self reliant and wont need to import resources as much from countries like lets say china or OPEC countries. We would actually be more efficient with the resources we have and thus be more economically competitive. Id rather not have cars run on fossil fuels id possible.... i mean the fumes are toxic to us... so there are also health benefits to think about. And lets not forget the Intellectual Propriety we can sell to other nations. So the argument that we wont be economically competitive is not true.
@samuela-aegisdottir5 ай бұрын
EU is smalled polluter than US and China, but not a minor polluter. And EU causes lots of secondary pollution: the products which create emissions in China, India and developing world are created for European markets. The goods we bought in shops here in EU have high carbon footprint, but it was not manufactured in EU, so the emmisions are ascribed to the country of origin. EU has relatively low emmissions because it has deidustrialized, but we still buy and use product made by industrial processes, they just happen elsewhere.
