This is the time that we need to invest in a strong commuter rail system. The interurban railway used to go through a lot of the cities back in the day.

No amount of new roads or highway widenings can get traffic “under control”. How have people not figured this out by now?
@gushernandez252 күн бұрын
They don't want to solve the problem, they want more money. All they need to do is provide passenger trains/street trains, and subways.
@daveb2280Күн бұрын
@@gushernandez25 Roads are cheaper. Mass transit projects like trains and lightrail are expensive to acquire land and build out.
@mikedsjrКүн бұрын
So you’re telling me the rails are packed all day going to the areas currently in existent? I think a rail system would be awesome but it would have to be master planned into a development. Suburbanites are jumping on a train to head to the store without reasons. Buses were a flop, always riding empty. I’ll take a train from NRH to downtown Dallas or to DFW Airport. But I do that once in a blue moon. Give me reasons besides build it and people will use it. That’s a lie. Maybe 1% will use it in the suburbs without purpose and convenience that their car can’t really offer. I’ll from FW to Plano and back every day rather than and back rather than get on a rail because car is way faster.
@gushernandez25Күн бұрын
@mikedsjr just because you want to be stuck in traffic doesn't mean most of us would. You still have to park your vehicle, and you still have to waste more time trying to keep up with a vehicle.

The Texas Triangle is EXPLODING as other parts of the country's poor governance sends company after company here. Most of us hate it, but the choice is either develop more or watch rents quadruple over the next two decades. So with all respect for people who want Texas to look like The Netherlands, this is happening. (TIF plans can help individual cities grow nicely, but the growth is inevitable so long as IL, NY, MI, CA can't get their governance acts together).

1:27 - I hope to god I heard that wrong, because did you really just say 50 YEARS?! There is no reason why it should take THAT long to built this fully. You're just asking for the area to be quite unlivable by that point (not like it already is since you're forced to drive EVERYWHERE, and these cities are too lazy on having plans for public transit and good pedestrian infrastructure). Again, I hope I just misheard you, because that is just ludicrous, and doesn't make sense.

It’s not as quite as forward looking as you might think. It does not include any plans for rail mass transit. Highways will never be the end-all-be-all solution to transportation problems in a large urban environment.

DART silver line opening in 2026 will be a much needed East/West line that connects stations in Plano, Carrollton and others in Colin county to the airport and best of all it’ll be the Stadler flirt heavy rail trains similar to the Texrail trains which are really nicer trains than the light rail

Dallas loves its highways! Is there demand for mass transit around collin county?
@johnandjuliegrant36616 күн бұрын
I don't think that DFW has the population density that makes other areas better for mass-transit. Though there are many people in the DFW, they are more spread out than in other cities where mass transit works well (like Hong Kong and Tokyo).
@jaioxung4 күн бұрын
Exactly. The propensity for zoning mostly for low-density single family homes that start at $550,000 will never mesh well with public transportation. The culture in the US, sculpted by the auto industry, is one of sprawl and excessively large homes. The only places you see density is where the geography makes it necessary (i.e. Manhattan). If you want good public transport you have to leave Texas...and the US.

I live in Hunt County and travel to Dallas area and LBJ around to north Ft. Worth once a month or two. I went through beautiful Josephine recently as a different route.
