I have an alt in Elemental and my friend and I there was recruited to Japanese-owned FC and they were fine that we are foreigners. Though the fact that I can read and write Japanese helped tremendously and we play and chill together a lot. We learn each other's languages by communication and it was a productive night whenever I log in.

it really wouldn't be a good idea. i'm an Elemental player. i also hang around the FFXIV subreddit, where most of the users there are either from the US or EU. and some of their common etiquettes and experience would get something of a head shake from other players if they tried it on a JP server. a kick at worse. to give other players an idea, for example in Alliance Raids; in JP, Alliance B tank is always designated as MT, unless they show or specified they're not confident or experienced for it. meanwhile, in reddit, i hear MTs in other countries fighting among each other for top aggro in ARs, spinning the boss around in some instances. then there's DPS pulling dungeon mobs; that rarely happens. tank sets the pace, whether it's W2W or per mobs, other players oblige. DPS pulling the mobs only ever happened twice or thrice. but rather than whine about it, we adapted to it. best to finish up the duty than to argue about it, and move on. if you get someone from the EU or US running that same duty, whether they're pro-DPS pull or against it, there's gonna come a point you get someone who is gonna get overly verbal about it on chat, whether complaining the tank should just do W2W or that DPS shouldn't pull the mobs.

@@BlackCap784 often in expert I will pull mobs like a tank would on NIN with the blink, shade shift, arms length blood bath ect and can confirm occasionally a tank will lose their mind even though I just group the mobs up where they would naturally go and they can just grab agro.

As someone who played on JP for 2 years, there are soo many English speakers that make me cringe out of my skin. Also if you do your job right no one says shit to you so how do you even get found out...because you're bad.

PF in Ele this tier is the worst it's ever been population wise. It really sucks since it's a cyclical problem. The more people leave because Mana fills quicker, the slower and deader Ele becomes, the more people go to Mana because you can get groups in Mana... It's not helped by the strat splits this tier, either. IDK, sometimes I feel Cross DC travel was a mistake, simply because it exacerbates these kinds of issues. Why wouldn't players go to the DC with the reputation of play they're after? It's a lot easier to just go where the players are. The actual solution--raiding wise, at least--is to PF at home, because if you want population and parties, you need to make them! Of course, that's difficult (so much easier to just go where all the raiders live right?), so it won't happen until it has to, either by social force or technical force. Terrible as it sounds, banning cross DC players from high end duties would probably do a lot to alleviate the issues across all the DCs affected, while still allowing for a decent amount of crossplay. The rub would be ultimates, which would benefit from higher overall population for groups. It's still a crappy solution, so it'll end up being social pressure that settles things at the end of the day.

The same thing is happening in NA DC as well I believe. Most serious raiding are done on Aether and this has a negative impact on Primal and Crystal DC raid culture. I'm not sure how things used to be done on Elemental before DC travel was implemented. Was there a mix of JP and non JP raiders in PF or do they mostly keep to their own separate groups. On one hand, if JP players on Elemental went over to Mana DC for raids, you also can't blame non JP players for following suit as it would already have led to a drastically reduced raider base even on Ele which I believe has a ratio of 70%JP to 30% non JP players.

I honestly think this trend of "MANA PF IS THE BETTER PF" that started since last tier was bad for both Elemental and Mana. Elemental now has a huge decrease of PF, cultural clash between Elemental and Mana, and the tainted quality of Mana PF(since even the suckiest players of elemental that thinks they're good enough also goes to mana). The best solution really is just a SEA DC since OCE is not a solution for SEA players when the ping is just better to JP. But given how Singapore is the only proper place to put a server right now in SEA and given how expensive Singapore's DC compared to the SEA playerbase that they can benefit from, I kinda understand why Square Enix doesn't really want to invest in it. bottom line- no solution. gg thanks

yeah very unfortunate for SEA players, ngl since becoming a "solo" player (since i rarely login everyday) and only do extreme/savage content from PF it's way more harder to get into since most are just JP ONLY was hoping for SEA DC but i understand SE won't do that because it's expensive and there would be a big chance it's going to be a dead DC after some months since SEA players are known to be more mobile gamers and f2p mmorpg so yeah not worth investing to SEA DC from SE

From my personal experience, elemental pf are not the best. At some times the PF listed are just JP Only or JP language which i don't understand but understandable cause it's JP DC. But that's not the issue, i don't have any problem with that, but lately PF players can't do mechanic properly or idk why but they do strat outside of JP like NA strat or some shit. That made me think to myself, then why dont those people just play in NA DC if they want to do it the NA way? Like bruh, if you like 1 strat over the other then so be it, but when you're in JP DC PF, you're expected to know the JP strat. You're in JP DC anyway, so use a strat which JP DC players use, and if you don't know the strat then LEARN! Some people just chose to learn 1 strat, cause that specific strat is the norm in that specific DC and it's okay. But, if you only know 1 strat and that strat is the norm in other DC and not the norm in the DC you're currently in then learn the new strat, and don't expect people to know other DC's strat, why should they?

SEA Dc inevitably will open up with more problems. People want to stay People want to go Further dividing the dc, ultimately itll end up like OCE really. If the access to play with "better player" is there, many will do it. All in all just a glorified black list

Do JP players actually communicate? I thought they were notorious for being the most silent party chat other than greeting, saying goodbye and saying sorry for mechanic mistakes. Isn't it also very easy not to get caught assuming you just play standardly. "JP only" is meaningless if they dont even speak to each other.

They communicate a lot in PFs when something needs clarification. Duty Finder JP culture is very different than Party Finder JP culture.

noticed this had become more common in elemental this expansion, they basically try to make it more like NA DC's in regards of not following elemental macros set by and used by japanese parties and try some NA strats (p9s this tier is a huge example), while i did move to OCE this expac, i already know that its always just best to do what JP strats are shown so people know regardless of language barrier in JP DC.

Bro this has been happening since SB for me. Back then I had to clear O12S in JP client so I can avoid being interviewed as I join a JP party lol. But yes, many of the JP people I know in pf don't like non-JP people before cause many don't actually speak or just join and play their own game. Lately, I think since around late ShB or EW they straight up avoid Elemental JP client players too due to Chinese players playing on JP client. It was quite bad back when pugging DSR over the weeks after release. And yes, it went from looking at client language to even lodestone profile to find any indication of non-JP. It's kinda sad tbh. They don't mind if you know what to do and communicate stuff like mistakes and mits but their patience grows thinner for every non-JP that don't do that.

I was away from FF14 since the end of first Savage Tier in Endwalker. Now that Dawntrail is out, I came back to the game and noticed my FC announcement included something about not joining JP PF. I was wondering what the hell happened, but never dug deep into it, as I no longer have enough time to do high end content that requires PF. Now I know whats going on. I guess I will be put into same position as you if I do decide to come back to doing PF contents, as I do speak Japanese, a little slower on the keyboard but I do know how to type Japanese too. Hopefully they are ok with me when they ask first, instead of just kicking me right away.

I think is fair, because if some of you were in the release of ARR and in ARR Beta, NA players were straight up telling Japanese to "Fuck off from our servers, you have yours" and so on, so those PF clashes and even server clashs are not from nowadays.

Well the game can tell which client it was launched from so they could just add a section in PF for cross for higher duties in specific and one for the home DC only. Although my only use of cross DC for going outside of NA would be to visit EU friends or something that it probably will not be used for : a mitigation against expansion launch long ass queues.... but I am 100% sure that shit will be disabled on expansion launch.

The most important thing was be HONEST...when the PT say progress 3...make sure you have at least 50% knowledge on progress 3....alot of elemental people they just simply jump in to the group and that was the problem that make people frustrated...i myself are learning mechanic 1 step at a time do that.

Reminds me of the fact that raiding in Aether is worse now more than ever due to its high ping and clustered servers. People who moved to the new DCs in NA ironically just dc hop to aether to raid there. and if you travel to the newly made DCs, you will find an unfortunate amount of people hanging out on the near empty city states. Quite obvious that no one wants to raid in the new dc due to 'low populations' and ironically by hopping over to Aether, they recreate the vacuum within the low population of the new dc making it impossible to do even the simplest of dungeon clearing with actual players. bottom line is, if you want to populate your new servers, stay in your servers as much as possible and encourage people to play there as much as possible. maybe you'll be able to stabilize the population to be able to get the clears you want.

Eh I like to do both. I'm on crystal and despite the memes I often feel like our parties are alot more solid on there simply because they don't drop party after one or two mistakes often. On the other hand depending on the content and hour, good luck finding people, then Ill swap to aether or primal, but aether I've definitely had the worst raid experiences like last tier with a tank who'd constantly go in the wrong stack and wrote up a paragraph about how its the Bards fault despite the entire party telling him its not.

I'm a EN player on Mana, and I ask.. can you blame these guys putting up ElementalDC X? Despite being a minority on the JP DCs, the EN players on Elemental adopted Papan for Caloric 1 instead of Mochibe. I get it, it's easier to look at the english Papan Toolbox. But as someone who speaks very little japanese, it took very little effort for me to adapt and learn Mochibe for Nora after my static did Hex/Rinon. Why couldn't the Elemental english players be respectful of this and try to adopt the JP PF strat? When in Rome, do as the Romans do. This means someone coming from elemental to Mana, after their PF dried up because they're a tiny community, is more likely to mess up mechanics because they're not familiar with the strat, or have 2 strats in their head. If English players on Elemental refuse to integrate with JP strategies, can you really blame Mana JP players for getting frustrated when they wipe over and over to caloric 1 because they're not familiar with it, or because there are arbitrary differences in spread in how roles rotate on other floors? Tuufless has been trying to put the JP versions on his macro site and discord, but there has been a lot of "Tuufless doesn't represent elemental PF" this tier. Okay that's fine, do whatever you want, but when there are only 6 parties for phase 2 P12S on elemental versus 70 and 60 during primetime on Mana and Gaia, not including Duty Finder 消化, don't expect to freely just jump in. Next tier, Elemental EN players... please please please just respect the Japanese PF strategy and do it. It's not about which strategy is better, it's about integration.

Then, inside the raid he followed some NA strat then got shocked. Honestly i was flabbergasted about how he said that he has never used JP strat and didnt know that our pf uses JP strat. Bruh, it's literally stated in the PF description and we're literally in JP data center, you're in elemental for god knows how long why are u asking that? and the rest of my friends were mad cuz he kept messing up the mechanics (And he got kicked in the end lmao)

Raiding in Elemental this tier with is pure hell with the EN speakers. You got: 1. People who don't pentameld or still with some last tier gears saying "but we meet the min ilvl" 2. as a sea peep in elemental DC (Carb) I can say I haven't experience this because I understand a little japanese but when it come's to their text (Hiragana) (Katakana) I still have trouble reading them so I just type on the pt chat romaji, onegai shimas or if I turn psycho i just use deepL and have it translate to EN and check the context

I still think the OCE split is a bad idea for the EN raiding. And it’s the main reason the issue has escalated to this. Worst is so many desperate to clear on weak 1-2 where the guide weren’t really there yet and you need tons of communication. It’s true it’s the EN speaker fault for not studying, but at the same time I can’t say it entirely is. Mana has bludgeoned to 300 PF while elemental only has 7-10 PF per tier on a good day. It’s very dead by the 3rd week for the beginning 2 tier. People got desperate and the issue of lying about a prog point become more rampant after the split. IMO, the only way (to kinda) solving this is if we can atlesst cross to OCE Only to get the numbers back to decent level. Seriously this whole debacle is really nonsense. On top of learning mechs and getting good we have to deal with this. Everyone just wana raid.

Idk, but it's wild drama and imo a complete overreaction. played both jp and na for around 2 years each and everything you say is right. when i first came to na(aether) it was very annoying because there were WAY more people who dont greet, leave pf midway without saying a word, leave instance midway without saying a word, not reading and understanding pf description, straight up lie about their prog points etc. i get that every server has their own culture but na is really bad ;w; that said the only reason why im still on na is because of the friends i made, most of my jp friends are on hiatus/quit so there's little reason to go back jp atm! tho i kinda miss ez savage reclears via df in jp ;w;

Tbh EU isn't that much better. I think it's the western "drop in drop out" mentality that really drives a lot of this home. I've become acutely aware of all my teammates in a PF and looking for how things are handled by them. Because of the fact i've lost hours to these people. It's not changed since HW. The only thing I've noticed is that players seem to have a slightly higher tolerance for these things. Like allowing one or two mistakes before suddenly leaving. But especially first time clear parties...it's a mentally draining evening. Really puts me off doing it knowing at least one person has actually no idea and is just trying to get carried by others making it all so much harder.

The "just pull", then leaving after 2 pulls in a prog group, the openly discussing people's dps or flaming other people for getting 1 mechanic wrong one time... its what happens in other games, and it stinks it carried over to FF. I play a fair bit of Rocket League (car soccer), and I had to turn off all chat and use a thing to anonymize names because the amount shit talking / racist / homophobic names is just.... way too much. I get that its "cool" to be edgy on the internet, but man, I can't deal with it.

Listen you sometimes need to lie about your prog points in order to actually get to the next spot. I have bluffed my way through some prog points to the point of clearing. You can only see the same mechanic for hours on pf before you decide you need to move on somehow.

I thought the PF design was perfect when I was still ignorant about the realities of PF in elemental 1) can just join a group depending on your prog point, so just practice and clear at your pace 2) can choose to join a group if you feel you need more practice on earlier mechs 3) can a2c/reclear as quickly based on your schedule but elemental PF has become a total shitshow. I suspect the reason I didn't have any issues in FF11 as an American joining JP parties was (1) having a friend from Japan who assured people I knew what I was doing and (2) playing COR/BRD/RDM as my main for meripo and pulling at sonic speed lol and (3) at least using in-game translate and some key phrases to communicate In 14 I feel like it'd be so much harder because of the deeper complexities of the fights though

that's cos most of these countries have been exposed to other cultures. That's not really the case for japan and japanese DCs as a whole and it's normal they're doing what they do. Non-Jp players are a minority in Jp servers, so either they accept the JP pf culture or they're made outcasts.

I come from FF11 into FF14, and at this point its definitely a issue with japan. I think its racist at this point its not just MMOrpgs its their games and their market their credit card companies their customer service anything that includes a foreigner has a separation of power. I'm not going to pretend anymore that its about culture clash. Japan is allowed to do whatever they want its their country but I don't have to pretend its not what it is. I'm not saying they aren't allowed to make their own space but lets start calling it what it is Japanese players want to play with Japanese players, not foreigners or anyone else period. Its in PSO, its in FF11 its in FF14, its in their customer service its in their country if you apply for residency, its in their delegation of power and its in their culture to treat us separately and differently. Japan gets exclusivity for their treatments and gaming space. Not just gaming but pretty much everything else. They don't have to cater for us japan is its own country and can do whatever they want to please their people but some of you guys haven't game with them long enough to realize its very much apart of their culture to exclude other cultures. thats normal JPONLY was a meme for over 20 years.

Is not only JP, DC travel is one of those ideas that looks good on paper but awful in practice, Aether Servers are the only place to raid now and its awful pretty much a Russian Roulette, 40% of pf in aether are from crystal or primal players and you need to pray for a good party or being stuck in there, i would rather take a pf in primal than a pf in aether cuz so far all the clears ive done in primal didnt took more than two pulls where as in aether is usually a full instance and memes, and this is just gonna get worst over time, they need to restrict DC travel raiding

@@saysay8920 imo, we got a large influx of players there at the end of Shadowbringers, and even more in EW. More Players = Player Skill Average is Lower.(I'm on Aether to clarify, and squeeze in somewhere lol) Then there's the cross DC travel that's thrown a wrench in the mix. I personally don't raid anymore, had a static to clear the first tier and I left it at that...had no need for PF lol So my opinion is next to void. I will say tho, at least the odds when I did raid in PF back in the start of Shadowbringers was at least a 70% chance you'll got some solid prog/clear, and 30% Memes/Wipes. Later at the end of SH I vowed never to use PF again outside of Mount Farming old content because it became an absolute shitshow with all the new players.....now PF is like 40% chance Prog/Clear, 60% wasted time/memes/wipes

Honestly, I hate it. While there are definitely a lot more groups, they still don't fill particularly faster. And it really sucks from a social point of view. Now I log in, say "hi" to my FC friends, flip my retainers, and head to Aether where I just stand around waiting for my pf raid group to fill. At least before, I could still chat with my friends, mess around in my house while waiting. I could do a roulette with someone between lockouts when I needed break. Now it feels like a single-player game.

It takes a bit of time for Cross DC players to even get there to instant pull, so it's likely a player who enjoys being on Aether servers enough to do it. Like S rank early pulling and disregarding rally point hunt trains are still seen as bad etiquette as well for both Crystal and Primal.

taking into account that cross dc travel will be having the cultural clashes, you can take an example from oce's book, it's mostly jp & na players, when it first launched, yes the ping's good but not worth the clashes with how people play the game, it was a huge cluster fuck. now it's dead, & the raiding scene is more like eu from what friends have said. i havent experienced raiding on jp before i moved to oce, but simple things like alliance raid & the og 8 man prae for example

As an english speaker in P1S to P4S I tried to join a few JP parties cause it was my only option that week. Sometimes they were cool with some ENG speakers other times not so much. I have had 1 party ask if i speak Japanese and i said 'no' prompting them to kick me. In savage for me personally I have tried really hard not to trap but of course we are all human and have made a few mistake in the past. I'm not a high parser or up-time andy but to be judged by the langauge I speak before I even get a few pulls is really annoying. I'm willing to learn the macros and all the strats so that I'm not getting surprised when i go into a PF, so I personally don't have a problem. Most of the time I prefer the JP strats anyway so I shouldn't have any conflicts. In a reclear party about a weeks or 2 ago we had a DPS messing up mechs in P9S and since they couldn't speak english we couldn't communitcate to even resolve the problem. This casued the party to adjust all the time for just 1 person. It was insane how many times we posted the macro and tried to talk to them but it always resulsted in them killing the ST over and over. The constant silience from them not replying was really frustating. Typing the name of the person did nothing or the class. I get that the language barrier is a bit challenging when it comes to FF14 but this is why we have WM and Macros. This segmentation of language is also catching on with english players who are now putting "EN only" in PF now too, to avoid having JP players not understanding. You don't need to type or intereact with anyone if you can read the macro and know the strats. I think alot of problems come from newer players to savage and first time reclears trying to get carried by good players who don't normally make mistakes like your week 1 to 3 clearers. Everyone hates getting trapped but no one is willing to put in the work to improve. At this level of the game if you're not a seasoned savage raider you really should be doing fun runs in your down time before weekly reclears so you know for sure that if that when the "limit cut" or hard mech comes up you're not going to be the one holding back the group. Also as a side note if you've just learnt a fight and cleared for next week please stop joining reclear parties that have the fight on farm. You can only clear as fast as the slowest person in the group. If you don't want to trap please think about setting up your own party before weekly reclears and run the fight a few more times so you can get a grasp of all the mechs and not just praying you get lucky with an easy job. As an example I know in P9S LC1 I love getting defam cause its super easy but not knowing how to deal with 6,8,2,4 / 2,4,6,8 positions just causes all sorts of problems. Take the time and effort to learn everything then when someone makes a mistake you can help them out rather than shruging your shoulders and just pulling again.

But elemental DC players tend to join a PF practice which is -3 to 5mechs away from the prog take E8S shiva for example KB mirror prog JP PF - seen KB mirror before or clean up adds phase EN PF - LR fresh prog LR prog JP PF - seen LR or cleaning up LR EN PF - maybe fresh or DD clean up A2C JP PF - seen enrage EN PF - might be fresh (got mindset to prog until clear) or at most LR2 sry edited post, gave wrong savage stage XD P8S dont have light rampant or KB mirror. Didn't play this tier but I don't think it is that exaggerated. That said, in order to clear any fight in a reasonable time, I feel that I do need to get into a PF 1-2 mechs away. My static prog in Mana because it is hard to find player in peak hours that managed to get to our prog and don't lie about it in Elemental. JP players will join EN group and has amazing play etiquette, not to say with EN players. IMHO, Materia and Region DC travel is mistake. Just make it free for NA/EU/OCE and Elemental to travel and isolate Mana and Gaia if JP player base want it.

the same problem is occuring on the european DCs with (mostly) french people, but fortunately its not that bad yet. french speaking players are still a minority and those unwilling to speak english (or use a translator) dont often mingle with the rest of the community.

My 2 cents: We try to keep prog / clears with eng groups in elemental. But eng pugs are so bad and always either lying or pure toxic. Pt host "seen enrage" for p10s, and he couldn't even do turrets. Or players saying stuff like "I thought this is Para 3 prog? Who's the freshie here??". If they are at fault they don't even sincerely apologize too, instead they play the blame game, and it's usually a Grey parser or pure toxic guy who initiates the drama. When pf fills up and you only prog for 5 minutes then someone decides to leave is also another contributing factor, quite annoying too, especially when waiting for 2 hours for a p12s party in elemental. I believe these are the reasons why they write "jp only" because of stupid en players thinking they are top dog players after watching guides / clear pov once and think it's easy from there. Lately I've been in mana with My friend whom can speak Japanese, and can translate as well as vouch for me. I can say the culture is totally different. No one talks or wastes time discussing unless necessary, minimum prog time is 30min (1 food), ready check if you want to continue, no pointing fingers, instant apology if they are the cause of the wipe, and they actually prove that they are up to what the actual party description is at. Their stratergies are always consistent as well as "safe" where as eng players think they can risk it some more by greeding and causing more wipes and thinks it's okay purely for their silly logs. Lucky for us, I feel like we have built a certain reputation and are in the okay zone in mana now since we are always consistent and have proven we're not over the top wannabe heroes etc

We dont do 2fa, we use google translate when we know there was player who can only speak JP. What we got is nod emote from them and good prog. We enjoyed the time playing with players from different cultures.

I don't blame the Aussies or Kiwis for leaving Elemental for OCE since they have been requesting it since HW. However I do wonder what if people from OCE server can travel to Elemental to raid? I heard that OCE has way worst problem that even their DF can't fill up due to lack of players and population. IMHO the only way to fix Elemental problem is to allow those OCE players to come back and raid in Elemental or allow those Elemental players that prefer to communicate in English to raid, travel to OCE and raid there. So far Materia DC is a prison colonies and most of us in Elemental really pray that the Aussie and Kiwis will come back and make Elemental lively again.
