I know you don't want to hear this but you have a type of parasite in your chicken coop it needs to be treated. I had the expense of long-haired silkies.. but it was treated and they were saved

It could be a parasite. I’ve raised chickens for 17 years! Started when i was 7 all the way up until i was 17/18. I clean out the coop/treat the chickens, it can easily spread fast

It definitely seems like your Chickens have a decease. Larry most Hens most of the time live 3-7yrs but they can live up to 10yrs I think it has to do with their genetics Roosters live longer since they don’t lay eggs.

We raise layers and broiler chickens in minnesota ,winter time is rough on them, you will lose 1 or 2 when it's cold. Lots of times it's the weakest one in the bunch and could not be getting to eat or drink and you'd never know until it's to late

So I can’t say I know specifically about chickens but I did raise birds with my mom and I know birds are very fragile in general. I know we had to be very careful about even products we used in our home because their respiratory systems were very sensitive. Also if one gets egg bound that can be a death sentence unfortunately. We did help save a few from egg binding with warm olive oil and epson salt soaks. Sometimes I truly believe it’s just the fragile nature of birds. You take such good care of them I wouldn’t blame yourself at all ♥️

sounds like the chicken was egg bound if you soak them in warm water it can help them pass the egg and prevent them from dying

the life span can be dependent on the breeds but avg is like 4-6 years for most farm breeds

Aww I'm sorry Larry. I have parakeets so can't help you with the chicken problem. Don't know if it was eggbound. I've lost parakeets from that. But this sounds like a different problem. You may want to look into possibly a parasite. If that's the case it will spread to the others. Call a vet that deals with farm animals and give them the symptoms.
