The dynamic chatoyance of that Sapele is sublime. Your art always impresses sir! My wife wants the plate to put a portrait of a beloved K9 companion that was lost to old age... 15 years old, but she just never woke up one day. Great work! Who doesn't love dogs?! This reminds me of when my dog Rylee, who lives The Life of Rylee, comes in on a rainy day and lets me know she has been playing in the mud! Across the kitchen, the white carpet, the cream leather furniture, and all the way to my lap!! She is quite the artist! She loves to show us her creative works. Like you, Doug! Please don't climb on my lap, though! Lol!! Beautiful piece again! Good to see you back! I know it is work, but we certainly enjoy your videos. Turning is very therapeutic! We had a black cat named Riley bc he lived the life of Riley. He was a very sick stray kitty who landed at our house. My mom was outside watering and she sprayed him with hose to see if he was okay, he wasn’t so my dad got his leather work gloves on and picked him up and took him to the vet. He stayed with us after that. Riley loved my dad and he would sit on my dad’s lap every night purring up a storm.

A couple things: First, that Sapele is just awesome wood; the chatoyance really makes the piece stand out. Second, that was a very clever idea with the paw prints -- looks great. Love the way the whole thing turned out.

That is one cute bowl with a great idea for burning and resin. And of course the chatoyancy is outstanding. I remember when I loved turning from the top down on a bowl and wondering why I got so much tear out. When somebody explained and got me turning into the side grain, from the bottom up, or from small diameter to larger diameter on face work, everything started to go a lot smoother. I'm not going to tell you how to turn, Doug, I'm just sharing what I learned one time when I couldn't figure out why I was getting so much tear out a few years ago when I was green. Also, I had no idea that total boat sold pigments as well.

Gorgeous idea. And oh my gosh that chattoyance! Reminds me of my dog. Had to put her to sleep in November 2023 - 2 days before her 16th birthday which is a huge age for an Australian Shepherd. I managed to spare her suffocating to death since she was already fighting totth and claws for every breath. Thankfully we have a dog shaped urn made if clay painted with her looks according to only 2 pictures. And with some help I am slowly coming to peace with her being physically gone.

The death of my mom on 31st October 2012 as well as Anastasias death at the beginning of November 2023 has ever since ruined the festive season altogether for us. On Halloween I look the garden gate so I wont get bothered by trick or treaters as I cant shut of the door bell. So I clearly understand your point.

Looks great Doug. I have tossed the abrasive paste. I have discovered walnut oil and with 800 or 1000 grit it is beautiful. I had issues with the paste finish going dull. I am glad that your back keeping us entertained
