Thor, people will forget what you've done but they'll never forget how you made them feel. Disney destroyed the spirit of Star Wars through their treatment of the entire cast of characters and all of the major story elements of the OT and to every appearance they did it gleefully, with malice, happily blaming US for everything. I haven't heard one Disney exec admit they did anything wrong or that they intend to change course. Skeleton Crew is one of Disney's best offerings, but frankly it's a mid piece of work compared to the OT and Prequels. The classic novel Treasure Island, Harry Potter and Stranger Things could stand on their own because their young protagonists faced real mortal danger. Not so much in Skeleton Crew. If mainstream Star Wars had been handled correctly, it would be an interesting side dish around the same level as the Ewok / Droids Adventure Hour. It's not enough to bring Star Wars fans back in, and I don't think anything will be until they undo what they've done in the Sequels.

Hey Thor, I know the popular theory for Jod is that he’s a survivor of Order 66 but what if he’s actually the son of a former Jedi? Given his age I’m not sure if the parent would be an Order 66 survivor but perhaps someone who left the order during the Clone Wars. He seems older than Luke & Leia, though not sure how long after RotJ this takes place. Being raised by a former Jedi could be why he has basic force training and knew the saying about attachments, though in his own twisted way. Perhaps the parent was hunted down by Inquisitors or Vader while Jod was still young, so he had to learn to survive on his own. There was a casting leak for a character called Nina Na Nawood, who was also listed as a Jedi. She could be Jod’s mother or possibly his sister. Though it could also be a false leak, I just thought it would be a more interesting idea than yet another Order 66 survivor.

The complete disaster of the sequel trilogy and Kennedy's subsequent comments that she has absolutely zero interest or intention of making anything for "50 year old men" and similar remarks did the damage for us. To retcon some of its own movies but not others? Would they be the same title but with "Special Edition" attached to the names and just be totally different? How would that not confuse non-fans (the majority of people these days)? Nobody dislikes the sequels more than me, but I think the best we could hope for would be for Disney to ignore them and move on to the time after them once they're finished filling in every little minute between them and the OT.
@Habu123 күн бұрын
Hey Thor, Disney has no business making Star Wars anymore. They've lost that privilege. Point blank. Done, no matter how good one show or movie it is. If they never sell the IP, that's fine, then the only hope is for a complete regime change at Disney. And that's an even bigger impossibility.

So, I'll just stay with the legacy books and original movies/ shows pre Disney star wars

Retconning the sequels would make business sense, as it would free up that period of the timeline again, that most of the fans don't want them to go near. it is becoming a gigantic problem in their ability to tell stories. Just get rid of the damn things! They probably won't, but they really should
@tomradcliff68592 күн бұрын
I would submit the idea that the timeline is still freed up for other action. The first two movies of the sequel took place in the span of a couple days. It's a very big universe out there. Coruscant is still there. Ezra, Ahsoka, Grogu could all be busy in other parts of the galaxy when General Hux starts shooting his big gun and at best return to take part in the final battle on Exegol....or just return a few days later and say "What did I miss?'

I agree...its unfortunate that Thor has to essentially give a disclaimer simply for having an opinon that might not be in line with other people's opinions BUT...that is the world we live in currently. People have become such over sensitive babies about everything...they will pitch a fit and try to have peoples reputations ruined if they don't agree with every single thing. I understand why Thor does what he does...but it sucks that he even needs to leave a disclaimer in the first place...but as I stated it's because of the hypersensitive fans" who will go on the attack if he doesn't.

Hey Thor, I recently had a thought about a sort-of throwaway line from Qui-Gon where he mentions he's seen pod racing on Malastare and that got me thinking, how did Qui-Gon see a pod race? What Jedi Order assignment or even will of the Force would have brought him to what's essentially Star Wars' Formula 1/NASCAR? And from there I went, what do the Jedi do in their spare time when not on assignment? I know there's sometimes mention in novels etc. of their shall we say hobbies when it pertains to their temple duties, like gardeners or librarians, and we've seen in AotC and ANH that Obi-Wan is no stranger to bars (especially in Clones he looks quite comfortable going for that drink at the bar, I doubt it was the will of the Force that he'd do that :D), so I was wondering if you'd care to speculate a little on what people like Yoda, Windu, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan or Anakin and later Luke do in their non-Jedi duty, non-meditating hours. While typing this I was picturing quiet, calm "Listen to the Will of the Living Force" Qui-Gon being a fan of daredevil sports like racing and in his off hours he's watching stuff like the SW equivalent to MMA fights, stunt pilot shows, pod racing etc. and it'd even kinda make sense in a way for him to have personal interests that, to put it almost obtusely, keep him balanced with his calm Jedi demeanor while being an adrenalin junkie after work hours :D Would love to hear some speculation from you on this, just for a bit of fun really, with your insight into Star Wars I'm sure you could come up with some funny hobbies for these characters. Also on that note, Yoda had to have something to do besides learning how to become a Force ghost between Episodes III and IV... and it obviously wasn't cooking. Love the channel, happy new year and all that!

About the big moments, the thing is: they are hard to write. When you have to balance complex plots and emotions, when you have to steer the course of the story in an interesting, satisfying and also logical direction, it takes talent and competence to do so. Perhaps the ones in charge of the wrinting simply realize they don't know how to do it when they're faced with it, and kindda skip over it so they can finish something. Or they are just too incompetent to realize those pontencially big moments are even there to begin with

I think the world-building in Skeleton Crew has been good so far, which is more than you can say for most Disney SW. It’s just little mentions of things going on in the galaxy outside of the show’s plot or showing things like a New Republic x-wing that can help. Of course it’s not entirely that simple, but it seems like we don’t get a ton of info on what’s going on in the galaxy post-OT. At least I’ve felt it’s lacking compared to pre-Disney SW. Don’t think they really understand why people like fantasy worlds

Stranger Things became a hit because of “Word of Mouth” But it also helps that the show was actually very good. Unfortunately for Skeleton Crew, the show is only average to mildly entertaining. That’s not enough to generate WOM or to over come the drag and antagonism that Disney/Kennedy waged against loyal Star Wars fans. This is a just me speculating, if Andor wasn’t guaranteed a second season, the WOM it generated would have earned them a second season.

Haven't watched Skeleton Crew, my opinion is that what's holding Skeleton Crew is a franchise or even industry spanning perception, by the customer, of being easily forgettable. These past few weeks I intended to perhaps watch SC if the show turns out to have good word of mouth, but I forgot to even pay attention. Neither has it been the main talking point of shows that cover new shows. The "going on" behind the camera is more interesting than what's in front of the camera. Right now, SW has nothing that can grab the viewers attention. Sure, people said Andor was good. Perhaps, I didn't watch it. Nor do I intend to give it a chance. I don't intend to give SW a chance ever again. Mandalorian was good, initially, but we all know how that ended and with KK still in charge, I don't have any expectations of the next Mando season or movie, whatever it is.

they could very easily trial run retconning the sequels by simply making some of the EU books into movies. If they faithfully adapt the Thrawn trilogy, they could test how well it would do. They could even say it is a "Legends" movie and non-cannon in marketing, while in practice they are starting over.

To your point about it not being long enough, if its aimed at kids they dont have the attention span or ability to read into more complex themes... That might not have been intentional by Disney cos theyre clowns but to make a show for kids that at least makes sense

I'm watching"Skeleton Crew" and I think it's kind of okay. I'm interested to hear about Jod's Jedi backstory, but not all that intrigued about the At Attin mystery. But this is not what I want Star Wars to be, this is not what I consider "real" Star Wars. This is just a kind of weird crossover fanfiction of Star Wars and Stranger Things. What I want from Lucasfilm is Star Wars that takes itself serious. Why can we not have real "Tales of the Jedi"? So not some tales about Dave Filoni's favourite Mary Sues, but stories about new Jedi characters before the Clone Wars going on missions, solving conflicts, struggling with attachments, whatever. There is so much potential. Why do I have to watch some 80s kids run about in the suburbs instead? I don't get it.

First comment got it. 10 years ago Lucasfilm had a lot of potential stories with bankable characters that people wanted to watch. Now that they’ve burned through all those and mostly left everyone disappointed, why would people give new characters a chance on a show that is seemingly a huge tonal shift from usual SW, if they couldn’t even get Boba Fett right
@zaros17812 күн бұрын
They Thor, I think what makes it work is that they first made a story for kids and then put it into SW, which really works. It was similar with the CW that was made for kids but had a high entertaining value for adults as well (although you did had to get through the first seasons - which really were just for kids). What is most likely holding justified attention for this show back is just how badly Disney has managed SW: it was fitted in a roster with shows like Ahsoka and The Mandalorian 3, which were all disappointing. The general attitude on YT channels was: 'who's going to bother watching this?', and I was in that crowd as well (I'm one of the people who voted in your polls 'not watching it'). But after seeing plenty of positive reviews I decided to give it a chance and I'm glad I did because I also enjoy it. It would explain why Disney has commented that they see the numbers going up: at first, not that many people bothered with it but with an increase of people talking positively about it more people are giving this show a chance.

Hi Thor, knowing the Star War fandom and knowing what really generates money with the fans, we all know that Baby Yoda was a success in its own right, but the charm is already diminished by the meocrity of the script. a company can only lose money up to a certain point and stipulating that kk has at least one more film to intervene do you think maybe they will look for someone like Jon Favreau to take over since he is someone who really understands how to make money if he has control without interference?

The answer is three fold. 1) Too many bad star wars shows. A lot of people would rather wait for the full series to be over and get a short review rather than watch it all and get burned like most Disney Star Wars live action shows. 2) It is average star wars. Not 'great' or 'bad' star wars... And 'meh' star wars isn't enough to get people back. 3) It is mostly made with the mindset that it is mostly for kids. That sounds bad, but the original Star Wars was made for kids, but it didn't talk down to them. The Ewak adventures didn't do well and it did talk down to children. (old show with live action kids and those bears for episode 6). 4) Its made for kids... Which sort of implies that Lucas Film would rather treat us like children rather than give us a good product. Which we know they can do due to Mandalorian season 1&2 along with the Bad Batch seasons 1-3. And just to be clear... The Bad Batch was made for kids. Being made for kids doesn't mean it has to be made badly. After all Walt himself claimed if you made a show just for kids then your missing half the audience.

Are you seriously asking this question? Ok i will calmly break it down. 1. Things were directed at an audience that didnt care and would never care. 2. The fans and holders of money were insulted and told they were the problem. 3. The stories were bad. Focusing on virtue signalling and an agenda. People can only take so much. We asked for change and were disregarded. We gave up asking and we kept our wallets shut.

Given the different lengths of the episodes (between 25 and 42 minutes) I am not sure that there is a mandated ~30 minutes runtime. They certainly could have added another 10 minutes to the 4th episode if they wanted (also the episode lengths for both Andor and Ahsoka vary between 32 and 50 minutes). That gives me the impression that the writers didn't add more because they are constricted by the runtime but because they did not have anything else they wanted to tell.
