That first disclaimer you gave for expensive gear is spot on. It is one of the things that keep most people away from photography believing that all you need is high end gear for baseline results.

Hey Erik. How do you personally rate the sigma overall on the XH2(S)? Thinking about going into the Fuji-System and starting with the X-T5 and the Sigma zoom. I could imagine this as a really nice combo. I am also father to a nearly 2 year old and my phone is getting to slow for it. I don't know why but the Fuji System is kind of fascinating.
@erik667810 ай бұрын
@@PhilJoe82 Hey Phil, for me Fuji is the perfect system. Great haptics, superb colours just out of camera. I don't like to edit photos in post. Can't even understand the point why i pay thousand of euros for a camera to edit every photo... But thats just my opinion. And with fuji you can have this just out of camera. (Film recipes) The best camera is the one you take with you. (In germany we say this) -> so for me this is fuji. Before the sigma i had the fuji 16-55 f2.8. as roman says it is a tank. Really robust, nice quality. But it is really heavy. So i bought the sigma and sold the fuji some weeks later as i can't justify having both. The weight difference is huge and for me as a hobby the quality is more than enough with the sigma. The 16-55 has some advantages when filming. It seems more stable when zooming but i don't do that so much. Regarding the price and weight difference you have to choose. But paired with the x-t5 maybe you will miss the aperature ring as my XH2S do not have all the shuttter and iso-dials. I know it is a difficult decision. Greets

Hey Roman, this was a great video, thanks! I appreciate your caveat that gear choices for a pro don't necessarily line up with the needs of amateurs, and that's okay. It's nice to not have people constantly trying to sell me new gear. I have a question regarding the gear you don't generally take with you. What do you do with various lenses that are given to you for reviews, or that you've purchased in the past but don't shoot with anymore? I guess gear that you generally just no longer use. Do you tend to sell old gear as you find you don't need it, do you keep it all just in case, or some other thing? Thanks!

Interesting to see where your gear is at. I remember when you used Peak Design bags... For your lenses, do you bring lens hoods? Also for that Urth magnetic system, do you have one set of CPL/ND for EACH lens (i.e., a total of four sets) or do you skip the 77mm for the18-55?
@jeffappleton92610 ай бұрын
Not sure what Roman does but a good way to go is to get the CPL and ND filter to suit the largest diameter lens you have. Then use step up rings on smaller lenses so the larger filter will fit on every lens you have. Only need to buy and carry around one set of filters then.
@marcosv842610 ай бұрын
I love the use of step of rings to save money/bag space. Only issue is when you also use lens hoods which is why I wonder if Roman actually brought any lens hoods on his business trip or left them at home.@@jeffappleton926

Hi Roman, thanks for another great video. The Smallrig multitool you show I own also. Unfortunately, on a trip to Sicily last year, I was stopped by customs at Manchester airport on the way out for having the multitool in my rucksack/camera bag I was taking on board. They told me I am not a allowed to take any kind of tool on board an aircraft. It might be worth a mention on your next video. It cost me about £30.00 for them to send it to me when I returned which I think was about what I paid for it.

when looking at your gear i really wonder what is the profit of APSC now ? I mean these cameras are not small -- i would say almost comparable in size to Nikon Z 6 or Z 7 -- and the lenses ... the 16-55mm 2.8 is much larger and heavier than the Nikon Z 24-70mm f4 , and in the end the bookeh will be quite the same, and there is also no advantage being f2.8 for the Fuji-lens , since the high ISO will be one stop better for the Nikon ( maybe not in Video though). But these big expensive primes ? They are for sure very good lenses , but I suppose not better than for instance the Nikon Z 50mm 1.8 , or other lenses for Full-Frame which will be about the same size and weight or even a bit less. ( Panasonic L-mount lenses come to mind ). So I guess it is just the one advantage -- they have an aperture ring and still do autofocus 😉

Hey, I have the 14 Pro ( Lightning port ). Here's how I test: (1) I open 'Photos' app (2) I insert Micro SD into the reader first (3) When I connect the reader, an icon appears in Photos on the bottom right to 'import.' It's good to test with the native app Photos when you're troubleshooting to rule out any 3rd party app dev issues IMO. Also noted, when I connect the card reader without a Micro SD card inserted, nothing happens in Photos at all - no import icon appears. A working card must give some sort of signal to the iPhone. Hopefully this will help you narrow it the issue a little further. @@noveullotus

One of the problems I usually have with slings is the clip that can be unhooked and makes suddenly the sling is loose and can be taken. How do you generally deal with that? Just a matter of positioning, or the hooks on this sling are more secure than others?
@snapsbyfox10 ай бұрын
generally I position the clip to the right under my arm. This is something I've been thinking about though because if someone gets it, then they have everything. I don't know what's a better solution tho

@@snapsbyfox The first thing that comes to my mind is (if it exists) a sling that it's actually sowed together, no clip. Where you can still adjust the length, but you can't actually separate the strap from the bag in either end.

They normally use a sharp implement to cut the straps of sling bags. You can get seatbelt cutters. Best solution is to be aware of your surroundings but that’s not easy when you’re distracted with taking photos.
