Alexandra Beuter I know it’s silly but one thing I regret not bringing when I recently gave birth was hand soap (champagne toast from BBW was my fav at the time) i was going to RR very often and if I would have smelled my hand soap I would have felt so relaxed... this is a PS because I already commented on your post (: Coxoxoxo

Use the pad underwear the hospital provides if they do provide it. I didn't realize how much you bleed afterwards and it saved me. Also pack cheap flip flops in case you do have to shower. It saves you from possibly getting foot fungus.

HAND SANITIZER. If you plan on having visitors get a hand sanitizer place it on the side table provided and ask them to use it before they touch baby. If you dont want to ask them to do it. Talk your nurse. They're more than happy to help with that. Also snacks! Pack your favorite snacks.

I agree with the snacks. I bought some cookies for the nursing/lactation staff. That was my secret weapon, they were extra helpful to us trying to learn everything before we left the hospital (then also sent us home with plenty of extra stuff that didn’t end up on our bill!)
@MariaSegovia5 жыл бұрын
All that is great! I would totally recommend to have another chapstick somewhere else because they tent to get lost easily and also to have several hair bands with you for pony tails, this will also come in handy. Bring a folder with you where you can put all your papers too. Good luck with everything

Youre so cute and prepared!! I work in Labor and Delivery as a nurse and trust me when I tell you, you dont need more than half of the things ☺️ pack light! Itll actually be more useful in the future when you dont have to carry so much since you’ll have to carry an extra human being out! Maybe I can help out mommies out there to make a video on what you actually need for labor and delivery :)
@voosh225 жыл бұрын
Consider taking a pair of cheap flip flops that you can toss out before leaving the hospital. Imagine going to the washroom with your socks on and then getting back into the hospital bed with them on.... Also, don't forget hair ties or hair clips to keep your hair back during delivery or while learning to breast feed. Taking a button down shirt is also a good idea because for the first couple of days/nights you'll want to do a lot of skin to skin with the baby. My baby girl was born last October so everything is still fresh in my mind. One last tip, I had also taken the honest company diapers, but at the hospital I ended up buying the pampers brand because they have the wetness line indicator which turns from yellow to blue when baby pees. This was essential for me because it gave me an idea weather baby was getting breast milk or not and how much, but with the honest company brand it was so hard to tell if the baby had peed or not. Good luck with your delivery!

Another tip a mom gave me that I loved was to get disposable bed pads for when you get home to keep your sheets nice and its easier than changing sheets if there is any mess. They are in the pharmacy. I also loved my madela bottle warmer later on when I was pumping so dad can do some night feedings.

I had a long labor as a first time mom, so that being said I stayed in the hospital gown until my second day at the hospital. I had also packed two outfits, but i ended up using leggings and a sweater since i had my baby in December. I brought my own blanket and pillow, and i did use my toiletry bag and I did not shower at the hospital i did so at home with the help of my mom. All the other things I packed that were useful were our chargers and phones. All labors and deliveries are different, you should whatever makes you think you need. I hope that you experience a beautiful delivery and birth, it goes so fast enjoy every minute of it!! You got this!

1. Wooly socks and a blanket bc i get cold easily. 2. I brought a small light to have soothing lighting during labor, but my labor was so fast, I didnt use it. But it was sooo nice to have it in my hospital room instead of having all the lights on. Enough for the nurses to see, but not so harsh. It's a tiny birch tree i got at Michaels. All the nurses who came in commented on how nice it made our room. We use it in our nursery now. 3. Having a knee length nightgown or shirt was great for me, I got a button down pajama night shirt from Gap body and it helped me feel pulled together but still made nursing easy.

Honestly all I used was my boppy pillow (100% bring it), makeup, hair curler and straightener, face wash, shampoo and conditioner, body wash, chapstick, lotion face and body, going home outfit, swaddle, and her going home outfit. The supplies the hospital provides for postdelivery r great.... I kept asking for more ice packs for my perineum because it felt soooo good and relieved so I recommend getting those to have at home. But yes hospital provides huge pads, mesh undies, bottle to squirt water (great to continue using at home) huge towelettes, wet wipes. So at home I made sure to have wet wipes, long overnight pads, ice packs, and used my bottle and leftover mesh undies from hospital. I used the big blue and white towels to wipe after shower to avoid getting blood on my towels.

Great video! One thing that I wish I had brought was a chill towel, like the froggy towels that keep you cool when you add water. As someone who is always cold, I will say, right after the birth when I was trying to nurse my baby, I was so hot, I was pouring sweat for like the first 2 hours after birth and wished I had had something to keep me cool

Omg you packed so much 😬 I had a C section and had to stay for 3-4 days and I didn't even pack that much I definitely loved having a cardigan and leggings and my own socks with grips! I don't recommend bringing a towel at all, you don't need it. Also, don't bring a boppy or anything because lactation consultants will be in often and they get in the way, plus they always have you use an extra pillow. Bring snacks for your husband or cash for vending machines

My advice would be to pack flip flops for the shower. I couldn’t stand the thought of my feet on the hospital floor and it made it easy to slip them on and off when getting in and out of bed, then you can toss them when you leave! Also, pony tail holders are a must for labor! I had someone braid my hair back so it would stay put, but you will want it out of your face for sure. I am a mom of two, Type-A, overpacker...and everyone will tell you that you don’t need half of this stuff, but it’s all about what makes you feel comfortable and prepared! I made lists upon lists and took everything that made me feel like I had it under control with both babies 😅

My biggest regret from our stay at the hospital was not taking changing into something else after delivery. I did take some pjs with me but felt like I couldn’t change into pants because people kept checking on my stitches and whatnot. Same goes for nursing bras. I had brought a nursing cami but felt like I couldn’t wear it because I was constantly either nursing, pumping, or doing skin to skin. Next time I’ll definitely be taking some type of gown with me and my nursing bras! I think it would’ve helped me feel a lot more clean and put together.

Never feel silly for over packing! It's better to be prepared and put your mind at ease and bring things that will make you feel more yourself after birth! Pack a few snacks for the hubby so he doesn't have to leave the room to find food when you are in labor if he gets hungry. You got this! ♥️♥️

Very prepared for sure! I packed quite a bit for my daughters birth back in February and I used hardly any of it. I’d definitely recommend not bringing any light clothing, blankets, towels, etc. I tore so I could have been bleeding more than some women (idk), but the first 24 hours in the hospital, I bled all over the place. keeping the clothing light and flowy is helpful, but leggings were super comfy to me as well. Whatever keeps you as comfortable as possible after having a baby. I was in labor for 2 days so the tv in my room and my iPad became my best friends. My husband and mom got annoying 😜 You will do great! I’m terrible with pain and ended up getting an epidural after 2 days. Made the last 5 hours go by much smoother since I couldn’t feel anything. Can’t wait to see pictures of the little guy!

Can't wait to see him.Love you guys.(all three)

You are prepared for it all! Tip on the nipple pads, I used the disposable ones for about a month while my supply was adjusting to the baby and her schedule. Then after that I used the cotton reusable and didn't have any issues leaking through unless I went too long without nursing. I ended up with milk stains on a white shirt in target one time and learned the hard way haha! 🍼

I would bring a knit jersey robe just because it can be hard to nurse when you’re pulling a shirt or part of a nursing dress out of the way at first. A robe you can just open up completely. It’s also great for when the nurses check you so often at first. I think I wore two or three of those robes during my stay with nursing tanks and bras. I didn’t wear actual pants until I went home. Flip flops for the shower and bathroom are also a must but you may be planning on just wearing flip flops to the hospital. Snacks are essential too! I gave birth at 9:30pm and was starving! All the local places and the hospital cafeteria were closed so I was happy to have some chips and breakfast bars in our bag. Also an empty bag for all the things the hospital sends with you and for any gifts you receive while there. I brought one of the $.99 TJMaxx shopping bags folded up in my suitcase and left with it full of diapers, wipes, pads, and a couple gifts. For the bag you keep by you I would add a sleep mask, hair clip, and some headphones. Especially for during labor. If you get an epidural you may have some time to rest and it’s hard to get the rooms very dark especially during the day. Also don’t worry about people saying you packed too much. It’s your birth and whatever you feel will make it easier on you is what you should pack! Everyone is different! My hospital was about 35 minutes from my house so I didn’t want to feel the need to send my husband back to get anything so I definitely overpacked and probably will again!
@KSakemi5 жыл бұрын
I never got the chance to pack a full hospital bag because my baby came early! But things I definitely missed in the rush to get to the hospital...blankets because it was freezing, my own towel, my own pillow, an extra long charging wire, lots of snacks, and a portable white noise machine.

I actually really liked the mesh underwear and pads they provided because they were so big and I bled a lot. I did use the adult diapers when my water broke though. Definitely get some Tucks pads and Dermoplast spray(the blue capped can) for home. Most hospitals provide them. Mine did, but I couldn’t take them home. You WILL need them lol. The Tucks pads are such a life saver. You can just spray the dermoplast on “down there” and then rest a couple of the Tucks on your pad and it is just such sweet relief lol. You’ll want to get a squirt bottle as well if the hospital doesn’t send you home with one because you won’t be able to wipe yourself for quite a while.
@samanthasprague32963 жыл бұрын
Tips for new moms. You don't want loose fitting underwear because your pads will leak. Tight but comfortable is ideal so you're not leaking blood out. The depends disposable underwear are awesome. With my two other babies I wore the hospital mesh panties and pads the first few days then switched to depends.

Mom of three here! All three of my childbirths are different and each one I learned from the first. What you packed is ideal just because you don’t know how long your labor is going to be. My labor for each child end of being longer than the first. 1st child 16 hours, 2nd child 26 hours and 3rd child two days. For each child we had to stay in the hospital for another two to three days due to the baby being jaundice. Like everyone I would recommend getting slippers and more Kotex pads and another towel. It gets cold in the hospital so be prepared.
@Trapsaucemix5 жыл бұрын
I just had my 2nd baby Wednesday & I’m already back home. Let me just say this, do NOT over pack bc one you most likely aren’t going to even use half of this stuff, & 2nd when you do come home you’re going to be exhausted yet still in kind of nesting mode with baby finally home and you’re going to want to put everything away from the hospital and get to cleaning and washing. So the less baggage the less mess to put up and clean when you get home. You only need about 2 outfits really, the first day you’re most likely going to stay in your gown bc you’re going to be exhausted but I do recommend bringing the robe so you feel more “at home” The towels I would leave behind bc the hospital will provide you with theirs and you WILL get blood on them and go through quite a bit. I do recommend bringing a postpartum binder especially Incase of csection. Makeup is not necessary unless you plan to take nice photos, but Chapstick is a must!

I guess it kind of depends on the hospital you are at but many hospitals seem to have a lot of what you need. Extra blankets, hand sanitizer, lotion, pads, pillows for hubby and even basic toiletries. I'm due in February but I know the hospital I am giving birth in is pretty nice. I don't want to pack a lot, I think it will be overwhelming to carry around so much when you probably won't even use it. But everyone has their own thing. I will only bring a outfit change, a pajama shirt, a robe, compression panties, a dark fluffy towel, extra warm socks, my husband's change of clothes, the baby's first outfit, a cute swaddle. I will probably bring a huge water bottle and a couple of protein bars but really not much. I always have a blanket in the car and my husband can pop down and get it if need be. I think it will be easier on me not to have to unpack a bunch of stuff after I get home.

It’s better to pack more then not having! I did hear that not to chew peppermint gum because it can pass through to the milk and make the baby sick like how fluoride can make you sick idk it’s something I look at. I had two csection and they are no joke and it’s best to over pack. I loved the mesh underwear from the hospital. You would want something tighter to help keep everything in place some hospitals provide a belly belt to keep things in place but some don’t.
@astriddietrich76105 жыл бұрын
I would recommend some hand sanitizer and some cheap flip flops for the shower. A hair tie if you wanna put your hair in a bun. Take snacks that are high on fiber such as prunes. First time going to the bathroom after labor can be painful. Also a light cheap robe that opens in the front is very helpful! It’s super easy to put on, its comfy, easy to open if you’re planning to breastfeed or when you meet with the lactation consultant, and you can also put the baby on top of you for skin-to-skin contact. Good luck girlie! 🥰you’ll do great!

Ah! I'm so excited for you! My baby girl turned 6 weeks today, crazy how time is flying already. I had to get a c section because she was so big. She was born 9 lbs and is already 12 lbs. I have watched a lot of your videos while I've been on maternity leave. Good luck to you both, enjoy your precious baby!

Omg your getting soo close!!! Don’t forget to pack hair ties and chapstick. When You’re in active labor you will want your hair up and your lips will get very dry and after delivery too. Praying for a fast and healthy delivery!! ♥️

I have two kiddos- first was a vaginal birth with an epidural and I was FREEZING so I think the warm blanket and socks are a good idea! I wasn’t prepared to have to use a bed pan to pee afterwards bc the epidural took awhile to wear off and that wasn’t fun so modesty went out the window😅 My water had broken but I was only 3 cm dilated so I had to be induced to prevent infection and it was about 10 hours of waiting until I could push which felt like forever but was short compared to others! My second was an emergency c section at 26 weeks and I had nothing prepared for that one. Don’t let this scare you- it was not a typical pregnancy or birth experience. I had to send my sister to get my things, clothes, etc but nothing for baby bc she was in the NICU for 4 months. I was very emotional and heavily drugged so I don’t remember much from that one. Dark clothes and dark towel are good ideas and make sure to bring some snacks for dad unless there will be family bringing him plenty. I really relied on the tummy belt they give after a c section to make things feel secure. I was really glad to have my own pillow there bc I don’t sleep well in hospital beds so consider taking one that you don’t normally use. I had gotten a $10 body pillow from target was a life saver! If you struggle with getting your baby to latch, a nipple shield was necessary for me with my first and the lactation consultants frowned upon using it all the time but I made the choice to use it so he can breastfeed rather than having to resort to formula. If you want to build a good supply, pumping after each feeding and emptying each breast is the way to do it- and it will help you build a stash in the freezer for whenever you need it so have a pack of breast milk bags handy in case this is the way you go. Do not be discouraged the first 3-5 days when you are not getting much out! I was extremely stressed with my first baby when I couldn’t feed him much the first few days. Your milk will come in around day 4 but you can start pumping as soon as he’s born to stimulate milk production and get the colostrum for him. My second baby I had to exclusively pump for 5 months while she was tube fed. When she came home the amount I had saved up lasted her through her until she was 10 months and was totally worth it all. She is 3 now and very healthy 😊 I hope my experiences are helpful! I know it’s hard to prepare not knowing when and how things will go but you’re going to be a great mom and some things you just figure out as you go. Having your husband and family there to support you is most important! Don’t feel selfish if you want to take a hot shower or need a nap. You can’t pour from an empty cup-happy mama, happy baby! Best wishes to you as you are getting close to meeting your little guy!!

Good luck to you!!🥰 I have 2 boys and the only things I used were an outfit to go home in, my toiletries, and slippers bc I had to walk the halls. Oh and cheap flip flops for the shower. I had a c section and was there 3 days. A faja would be great to hold your tummy and some chapstick for sure! For my boys I brought several outfits, socks, mittens and warm blankets. The hospital provides everything else and even sent me home with an extra pack of diapers and wipes. You’re too busy taking care of yourself and baby that curling my hair was the last thing on my mind. Hand sanitizer was available at the door entering my room and there’s a sink to wash your hands too. I didn’t buy a pacifier until a month after just bc I forgot lol my kids really liked the WubbaNub.

Hey there Im a mom of 5 and youve got the right stuff in your bag. During labor and delivery its always good to bring stuff from home to make your room feel more personal and comfortable. If your hospitals L&D gives a tour of the maternity and nursery rooms , do it. My huaband and I did and it helped alot before we had our babies. I have had 5 csections so i can tell you that after delivery you are going to be in a gown for at least a while because of your incision, your not going to want any pressure on your lower tummy. The panties / boy shorts they give you to wear, they are awesome , i even got extra pairs to bring home. I breastfed so they gave me lanisol cream, if you need it they have it on hand. Your milk supply will kick in after a few days,so those big nursing bras you have will work. When your nursing your babythe calmer /relaxed you are the easier your milk will come down and keep your calories up dont skip meals when nursing. I know your gonna be a great mommy , your mommy instincts will be there too!! One more thing, the hospital has plenty of diapers but I noticed they didnt use baby wipes , so I packed baby wipes in our baby bag for the hospital stay

I am so excited for you guys! I have 6 boys. And it is always so exciting for me when there is a new baby coming.☺️ I think you are all pretty much set for the hospital now. I like to pack as much as I may need. I always over pack. But I'd rather have it all just in case.😁 I pray that all goes well and can't wait to see the little one.💕

A few things I'd add would be hair ties, bobby pins/clips, headphones, and slippers. Maybe get a cheap pair you can toss, if your having to walk around the hospital to speed up labor I you may want them. Headphones were a must for me, I made a playlist of some encouraging and meaningful songs to help me through labor. Also, we are like a few days apart!😄

I just had my son on the 6th. I actually didn’t wear the hospital gown I just stayed in my sports bra. The gown can get tight and be so big you feel strangled! I loved wearing my own night gown after. I did end up wearing my maternity leggings. Tight things around your belly WILL be the best feeling. I got a wrap to wrap around my belly to help hold everything tight. I hope this helps!

Hey I had my daughter vaginaly lol and my twin boys through c section and I recommend for either to take more pads because you will need one for every couple hours and baby wipes helps feel fresher than toilet paper and the cooling pads as-well just incase you get stitches helps tremendously because it gets hot down there lol. also take some cheap sandals that you can toss when you leave and a tummy belt to hold you in for the car ride. 😊

This video is super helpful, thank you for uploading! I am 16 weeks pregnant with our first child (a girl), but the planner in me is starting to think about what to pack, what I'll need to buy, etc. :)

youre such a beautiful pregnant mama!!! i personally feel you have overpacked. i actually had planned to only stay a max of 1 day at the hospital with baby but i preferred to leave within the minimum of 1hr after doing skin to skin, vital checks on baby and a shower. I dont like the idea of beign in the hospital and want to go home asap to settle in. So, i packed a little bit but packed an extra bag with things i may need and left it in the car in case i do need them. but i didnt! i was in early labour for 3 days so hoenstly i shoered for those 3 days, got kinda dolled up minimally, curled my hair/bunned it later on and laboured in a sports bra, underwear and a light silkish gown. I had a waterbirth in the hospital with just my sports bra and i came home just wearing another nursing bra, clean big underwear (although i recommend just wearing those nappies-i switched to that a few hours after it was a life saver) with the big pads and just a simple dress. I persoanlly wouldnt feel good wearing anyyy form of tights/pants after. mayeb a sweater if its cold over there. the towels in australia actually wasnt bad, i did pack my own but my midwife just passed theirs to me. i also used a minimal makeup bag with makeup wipes/creams. thats literally all i used + just dressed baby in his clothing, nothing special. i only laboured in hospital for like 2hrs in total after my waters broke, and returnign after continuing to labour a bit more at home so ideally i wouldve used a bottle of water with straw and lots of snacks (youre able to eat, jsut state that in your birth plan and you should youtube why you *should* eat during labour-alot of midwives support this too but i know in the US pedis/drs take care of you instead) and lip balm. i did hypnobirthing so i also ideally wouldve had wireless headphones to listen to hypnobuirthing tracks to relax but i didnt need it! ps pleaseeee look up bailey gaddis's on youtube her videos on "what to expect during early, transiton labour" etc and elle lindquist "how to have a natural birth/tips" jsut to help you when you're not able to have epidural during early labour! x

Agree! Between the skin to skin, the vital checks, tummy massage, breastfeeding, I stayed in my hospital gown cuz it was the most easy access for how often the nurses gotta check up on you.
