The only negative thing I would even comment about with this video is I'd like to have seen a view of the camp once set up. It is like a jigsaw puzzle, you see all the pieces but you don't get the big picture until they are all together.
@TheBeardedBurton
@TheBeardedBurton 3 жыл бұрын
I get that for sure and while I did post a picture in the community section of my camp set up, it’s not the same as showing it all. I’ll see about going over that in a future video. Thank you for watching

I get so tired of breaking my bag down to try to pack everything like I should. I’m cold natured, so I’ll have to get a sleeping bag. Other than that, the blanket is the only other thing you have that I don’t. 😎😎😎

Genesis + 52100 = Perfection. Ballbearing steel is the most suitable for that knind of knives.
@TheBeardedBurton
@TheBeardedBurton 3 жыл бұрын
I completely agree, it’s been amazing!! But A2 steel is the closest I’ve used from it
@greekveteran2715
@greekveteran2715 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheBeardedBurton If I wasn't a metallurgist, I would agree on A2 been close,many people may agree but... The closest steel, is SR 101 which people think it's the same but it's not, it's a different recipe. ( I prefer 52100) A2 may look similar but it's a tool steel, while the 52100 is an alloy steel. A2 is a bit more rust resistant because of a bit more chromium that it has, 52100 has way better carbides, that make it cut smoother . Also it holds it's edge longer but takes way less time to sharpen it,compared to how long it holds it's edge. These virtues that come along with great toughness and edge stability, is what makes it one of the best quality steels,that's ideal for a small and medium size fixed blade!

good load-out i carry 3 pr of day socks and 3 pr of polyester underwear, change every night, you are right separate sleep wear is important. i keep a UCO candle lantern, an extra candle, and an emergency fire kit hanging from a break-away neck pouch along with a god-awful sounding whistle. i grind my coffee beans and put in separate tea bag blanks just before i leave along with a Thermos mug full of coffee for the 1st morning. i believe camping should be comfortable, roughing it is for youngsters.

Very good pack, and any video that has the Grayl purifier gets a thumbs up from me. I'm still building up my load out, have most things covered but not perfect yet. I have the Silky Gomtaro saw but the Bigboy is on my list. I was impressed with the Katana 650 but it would be a bit of an overkill! I'd also like a forest axe, probably Hultafors, but for now I think I'll be ok with a saw and my Condor Heavy Duty kukri for chopping. I got the Thermarest thermalite pad recently, I have a cheap $30 sleeping mat which I want to upgrade to the Thermarest Xtherm. I have a gas canister and stove for cooking but also want to add a wood burning stove. I have the Helikon poncho if I need an emergency tarp but the main shelter is the Robens Starlite tent.

Sweet Loadout bud!! I laughed when you said you had a cozy that you forgot for your Pathfinder canister(s) that you made. I made one too and forgot it my first time out. And, a friend of mine that likes to basket weave to kill time and something to do while we are sitting by the fire at night. Made me one out of birch bark. He gave it to me the next morning. But anyway, great video! Cool gear, you got some stuff that I need to look into. Hope your campout went great!! Catch you on the next one.

Yep, small saw for detail work/wood carving or primitive skills, large saw for wood processing. No axe, it’s a tomahawk which is much lighter and more versatile in my environment. In the winter I’m tool heavy and every season my sleep system is what takes up the most room, sleep is most important

I’ve had this video in a file for a couple of months, and just watched it. 👍🏻👍🏻 A very nice loadout. I like this kind of video. Like to see what other folks carry. I like your redundancies. I carry a B.A.S.H.A. and two military ponchos everywhere I go. Even when I have a tent. They’re just too convenient to leave at home. I also carry a fire kit in my bag, and one on my belt. Multiple containers for cooking, and drinking. I’m a bit heavier on the tools. Always carry two fixed blades (large and small), a spear blade (such as a harpoon or a CS Bushman), a folding knife with a serrated blade, a hawk or hatchet, a folding saw, a multi-tool, and my Spetznaz shovel. I have this thing about being prepared in case a camp out becomes a long-term event. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking 😉

No worries appreciate the comment and you watching! So I have my 10x10 actual tarp and the Arcturus mylar blanket thats 5x7 I use as a ground sheet. Other than that I have no other “tarp.” That T6Zero I showed is 6oz (1 paper towel roll is 12oz) and packs down to nothing, I use it to protect my expensive camera gear from rain/weather to film these videos. Not sure what the fourth tarp you’re referring to is?

@@TheBeardedBurton I was referring to the "hammock chair" at 5:45. I guess I didn't hear your description right when watching the the video for the first time and believed it was a tarp. Thanks for your answer!

@@TheBeardedBurton they are probably the same, I was just at work and so couldn't compare. I only have mine for when it gets cold enough that I may want a little more insulation from conduction. It's also only 2 years old so it's likely seen fewer trips.

Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment! I’m not worried at all about that, the AQ dry bag is very durable and robust and then it would have to puncture through the stuff sack the pad is in as well. Most gear these days that is considered ultralight is wayy more durable than it used to be.
