Just generally how every makes their tum mak hoong and what they use. Still not a fan of the bottled pah dak, I still use the one with actual fish in it (but getting very worried since not many stores are still carrying that kind, down to two stores in the area).

I already have them all except for the palm sugar, actually never that before in anything. Will have to try it out this week. Nothing special about my recipes, just things I find online and hear from family, updated with more of the ingredients that I like. Thanks for your videos, they actually help me out in the kitchen! I already do a lot of cooking and have proclaimed myself Iron Chef Laos of Lawrence, KS (but stopped cooking for people since they keep bugging me to cook more).

i love experimenting with different ingredients such as palm sugar and salts. palm sugar is very common in asian cuisine...that's typically what is used in vietnamese pho as well. should def give it a try! and that's too bad you're holding out on people. i would find it flattering if my friends make requests! you can always send them over to my channel for recipes :)

If you aren't using it right away then yes, store in the refrigerator.

You should also adds dried shrimp, roasted peanut, Himalayan salt Himalayan to Tum Mark Hoong.

i've added dried shrimp, not big on peanuts. why himalayan salt? that's very specific but does it bring out a different flavor profile? i want to try!

I HATE ANY FOOD OR PET ODORS I'm a African American home cook and my first love is Chinese (Cantonese) Japanese ,African ,Greek and American and since I was raised in New York City I cook a little bit of everything NOW that I've given my resume😄📑 lol I'm learning about Thai! I hate food 🍤☕🐙odors in my home all 2500sq ft! Here's what works for my home I change my airfilters monthly USE CARPET FRESH weekly but I keep my fish sauces 🎣and oily based ingredients in my refrigerator in a closed box it cuts the smell and when I'm cooking smelly 😤food take a free standing FAN turn its back facing your stove cooking area and open a window keep the fan closest to the window it draws the cooking smells right OUT THE HOUSE👉🏠hope this help!💛💛

Hi! I love stinky food (fish sauces, shrimp pastes, etc) but do not like the scent lingering on my clothes, hair, house! It is the worse. Lol! THANK YOU FOR THE TIPS!!!

Do you like the crab extract paste over the crab paste ? How do they compare?

i prefer the crab paste bc of the color but i do like the extract for it's subtle taste. i have both in my pantry, both delicious! i like using the extract for mango salads to maintain a lighter color but the flavor of crab is still present :). hope that helps!

Hi, I was able to find the pantai fish sauce at my local asian market, I was wondering if I need to boil the sauce before adding to the papaya? It says on the side of the label "cook well before use" Thanks.

I live in Florida and there’s isn’t many oriental market to purchase the ingredients. My mom is from Long Beach, Ca and she’s too fob to send me things. Are there any substitutes for the pastes ?

Aren't you supposed to refrigerate your fish sauce after opening? I heard it goes bad when it turns a darker color.

i used to cook with msg and then i switched to a vegetable based one and didn't repurchase. i'm not opposed to it but i don't find a need for it. most of my (asian) products/sauces have a fair amount in them anyway. you can def add that in if you would like tho!
