Since I've become a KZbinr and spend a lot of time outdoors filming, I've needed to carry more filming gear on top of my art kits. @jaclynbaerart I'm having so much fun and trying not to be too hard on myself. I'm surprised how much I like sketching with ink and doing loose watercolor landscapes and quaint English villages. I am also interested in learning vintage botanicals. Thanks so much.

I have a bag similar to that. I am one of those who take my camera along with my plein air gear because I find myself taking lots of photos as much as I paint. Mine is a not near the quality of yours, but it does great. I can take my easel, tripod and a seat. Tripod is for my easel though, not my camera. I love your set up though. It looks far more comfortable than mine is. And probably lighter. That being said, the weight of the art supplies is nothing compared to the weight of the camera gear. Thanks for sharing. It's always interesting to see what others do.

Your setup sounds awesome! I like that you have a tripod for your easel. I’ve DIYed my own and it works well for now 😝 and it sounds like bringing your camera along for reference photos and just to take photos is perfect for you! What do you like to paint? Landscapes? Flowers? Trees?! I’m always so curious what others paint when doing plein air!!

@@jaclynbaerart What I paint really depends on my pain levels. I have arthritis everywhere and it is only getting worse with age. So, on my good days, I love to paint landscapes because those generally take me longer. Also, living in Western Washington, I am typically by water when I do so - ocean, rivers, creeks, lakes. But when I can't stand for any length of time, I'll site and do tree and flower studies, as well as cooperative birds. It's amazing how often a seagull will stand pose directly in front of me when I am sitting on the beach. I've had an occasional crow do that as well. I've even managed to capture an eagle as it snacked on a large, washed-up sturgeon for about an hour (I think that is what it was). I would love to spend more time doing urban painting, but unless I have a place to sit down, standing on concrete for any length of time is just too painful.

That makes sense to paint when your body allows it to. I'm sorry you have arthritis!! But how amazing that you live near the ocean!! I used to live in Port Angeles, WA and loved going to the coast. I'm definitely a rainforest ocean gal. 😝 But my husband needed more sunshine so we moved to Colorado and it's made such a huge difference for him (and for me too!). Anyway, I love that you get birds to sit for a while for you to paint, how magical! You're like a mermaid or a fairy where nature just follows you :)@@TracieWho
