I always notice that a range bag will match a personality. I'm a trauma nurse and my bag has a trauma kit that is color coded like a crash cart and I added electrolyte tabs, sunscreen, meds, frog towels, and instant cool packs for extreme heat. I have a pull out loading station for quick mag loads, extra hat, eyes and ears, batteries, cleaning kit, tool kit, lube/butter, rags, lens cleaner, gloves, range belt, backup gun, cooler, and ammo can. My husband brings a backpack w/tools, lube, towel, bullets, and usually me!

Always good to put tape over the terminals of your 9 volt batteries if stored in a container with a bunch of other batteries/metal stuff. Besides shorting out and draining the batteries, can also cause a high heat situation...

Good stuff. Only thing extra I do bring is a decent med kit. Carry over from the military as well. Been at the range or in a class when injuries occurred up to AD’s into ones self( old serpa holster thigh check). But its always been handy to have.

This video really gave me some ideas for populating my range bag. Thanks, Coch. Also, I like to have Sharpie markers and stickers/tape for marking shots on paper targets as well as a staple gun for mounting paper targets.

I bring a backpack with my gear and PPE in it, and then a duffle bag with tools and lube and what not. One thing you missed maybe is a clearing rod. I don't know how many times I saved the day when someone had a stuck case of one sort or another that I cleared with mine. Great stuff, MOAR COCH!!

I ditched the clearing rod for a paint can opener, removes stuck rounds right from the star chamber.

LOL - it never occurred to me to bring a second bag! I always stuff what I can into one range bag and bring a couple of tools. Can't tell you the number of times I needed to torque/tighten something, but didn't have the tool with me. Fix-It Sticks look good to have. I also love the fact that you are using non-tactical bags that are meant for storing tools. The see-through plastic cases is ingenious as I saw that you are a follower of Tidying Up with Marie Kondo.
@joshroten39972 жыл бұрын
I also like Coch’s idea of one standard bag that always goes with the same kit in it, then a second bag set-up specific to that range day/trip.

Maybe some Rocksett for a heat resistant stick around option for muzzle devices, a clearing rod, A bit of steel tubing for more leverage if need be. A cover for the holster in some windy desert areas makes them choke up between stages, especially those with lots of added debris entry holes. Covering them up when not needed makes all the difference. If you'd have a small bench vise and mag block insert would make things easier to work on. It adds weight but might be an option on longer trips to have in the car.

I always get a little chuckle because guys always say women and weak guys need magazine loaders…but that guy always has one in his bag. Face it, the Maglula comes in pink or purple, but they sell a lot of them in dude colors also.

I use an LAPG patrol bag, lots of room for all the tools, targets, staple gun, tape, ear muffs, batteries, etc. One bag to haul it all.

Was a logistics / equipment officer for a large southern SWAT team. I usually went to the range and shot with the team. But I always hade my tool kit. Another agency was sharing the range with us and their brand new ARs were going down (rock river arms). They were pissed and frustrated. Their gas keys weren’t staked and we’re shooting loose. I was able to get em up and running.
@erggml18872 жыл бұрын
I have used that kind of bag as a telecom tech. CLC is hardware store brand (Lowes I think) I mainly used Gatemouth bags (same style). I know the Gatemouth bags will hold up well to heavy use. If the CLC is as good, then you will be happy. As for the sunblock. I have never met anyone who complained that they used too much sunblock. Skin cancer kills and is not always easy to stop. I also have an IFAK style trauma kit. Stupid happens at the range sometimes, might not be your fault, but it can be your brand new orifice. Best to have it and never need it rather than struggling to keep all the red stuff in without a kit while the ambulance is stuck in traffic.

Yea...i believe in having one bag for all the "good to have" stuff & then a specific bag for handgun, one for Rifle & one for Shotgun. If only using one rangebag for everything...it not only over time will become heavy as shit but also crammed full & not very convenient in finding what you need.

Suggestions on AR replacement parts to always have on hand?
@alpham7772 жыл бұрын
@Mark Cochiolo I'll second that and up you a whole second rifle lol. J/k but also no joke I always suggest slowly start collecting new spare parts over time of all kinds for any rifle, never know when that supply might dry up and damn look who needs a new lower receiver or buffer tube all the sudden. But yeah minimum of a whole bolt carrier group and every spring, pin and screw on the rifle. Also love you just use tool bags I'm the same way I use the bucket boss brand ones I bought years ago and for the money I see no reason to own a "range bag" also they are far more durable usually since they are meant to hold heavy and often pointy tools.

Could you give information about buffer weights and springs when adding a suppressor? When I add a suppressor it cycles so much faster the brass is ejected to the 1 o’clock position. Maybe that’s not a problem or can it be a problem?? I have a BCM 16” AR.

@BimmerDudeXi2 жыл бұрын
Eye pro, ear pro, booboo kit, extra mags, extra eye pro, ear pro (incase you bring a guest or may want to double up), mag loader (saves time on the range), targets, batteries (if you're running an optic or lights)
@IkesThePyro2 жыл бұрын
Gun, ammo, ear and eyes, cleaning kit, handful of snap caps. Cleaning kit, if only for the brass rod to clear a stuck cass or maybe a squib. If your range lets you, holster and mag holsters if that's what you want to work on that day. Basic first aid is also a good idea. I also bring my phone and film myself every once and a while. Help me identify any bad habits I might be slowly picking up, and give me a better perspective on recoil control.

Yeah, lose the red Loctite, it is pretty much permanent. Nothing in your tool bag will come close to being able to break it lose. Only thing stronger is green. That is quite a collection of stuff. If two is one and one is none then he still has too much stuff.

Can the SOF and SF community stop putting seals in ever damn title of literally anything? Y'all do understand seals are not even the top of the top. There are SMUs, CIA SOG/SAD, OMEGA hunter/ killer teams, OGA sog , DEA FAST teams, CIF Teams etc. all those guys could absolutely do laps around any seal and most of those units pull from devrgu. No CAG try's out for seal but seals try out for CAG. Hell even RRC can whoop a seal platoon. No hate to any seal but guys there are better operators than seals. Yes seals are good in the water but guess what AIRR and PJs can out swim seals lol. Let's get some diversity among the SF/ SOF community and let's stop telling people seals are the best of the best because they are no where close.
