love this type of video and how it’s showing everyone’s culture and upbringing. a lot of kids have felt embarrassed or have been bullied for the food they bring into school for lunch (as lara also mentioned) because it’s different or has a unique smell. seeing this video felt kinda healing haha, seeing the girls be so excited to try everyone’s food without any judgement. we need more of that! also, yoonchae’s english has gotten so so good!! excited for katseye’s future 🫶🫶

I’m 33 and when I say this kinda healed all my gradeschool lunchtime trauma. Someone was always making a hurtful comment about the Caribbean dishes my mom packed, even my “friends”. So I’d just starve until school was over. I LOVE how everyone happily took interest in this video and maybe that will translate to the current generation of grade schoolers that not everyone eats the same thing and that’s ok.

I love how you can see the nuance behind all of their cultural backgrounds in the things that they eat, considering that a lot of them have nationalities that don’t fully match their ethnicities! Like Lara with her palak paneer in tandem with her caprisun, Versus yoonchae with a fully Korean lunchbox. You really get such a clear and distinct vibe from each of them, which is what makes me love them as a group!

Growing up in a multicultural family I was lucky to have been introduced to nearly all of these dishes growing up! I ate black beans and eggs for breakfast nearly every morning and lunch usually involved some variation of sticky rice and curry fish. I also had fruit, usually a banana or some grapes. Kimbap and Palak Paneer are some of my favorite dishes hands down that I still can't get enough of. My grandma used to make a HUGE plate of kimbap for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. I also love the way Yakult is so widely loved amongst different cultures (we had those in my home growing up, too). Heavily relate to kids making weird comments about my lunch growing up but I'm glad people are starting to expand their palates and become less judgmental about these things. It's also nice that despite the difference in upbringing that you all can relate to and support one another. ♥

Here's an idea for a future video: KATSEYE plays video games. The girls could play group games like pico park, party animals, and gang beasts. You could even throw in a prize or something. I think we'd love to see that kind of content and the girls would have a lot of fun bonding (if they don't lose their minds with pico park lol). For another video, you could have the girls play popular board games from each of their childhoods. It would be great to see them learn about different games from different cultures. You could even combine the two ideas into a 2 part sleepover games series or something.
