What you are not being told is that the money invested in ESG is primarily for wind and solar which means your money is invested in China. There has recently been investors who have been unable to get their money back out of China and there were a lot of investors who lost money invested in China in July last year. China is not a stable market to invest in and neither is the ESG program.

First a esg stock or fund shall have no tax exemption.Let any investor company creat a fund that has no special tax exemption esg funds but not change a existing fund. If a company wants to change a existing fund they will have to notify the holder in plain simple English of the change 6 months in advance to give that person a chance to research and move to a different fund or broker with no penalty. Let esg stand up on it own .

This was too superficial and glossed over the main negatives of ESG scoring. Green washing was briefly alluded to. Giving preference to companies with higher ESG also often disadvantages smaller companies and start ups. An example of this that ties in with green washing is companies can pay for better scores through carbon offsetting and other measures which the smaller can’t. The smaller company might have as good or better product and not actually be any less ‘green’ on practices but not able to afford the additional cost of purchasing carbon offsets. Tesla in some years for example made its profit by selling its carbon credits it earned by qualifying as environmentally friendly and having a positive ESG score to other companies so they could improve their score. Another issue that can be illustrated by Tesla is the potential ideological weaponization of ESG scoring, particularly in today’s world where wealth is increasingly consolidated (Blackrock, Vanguard, Statestreet). The ‘measurement’ of what is ‘green’ or ‘good’ social policy or governance can be subjective as well as the scores attached to it. As we saw Tesla’s score dramatically slashed at around the time Musk was ruffling some ideological feathers and people can reasonably speculate this is an example of the potential weaponization of ESG scores. Skeletons can be found or produced in terms of disgruntled employees pretty easily and the idea of green is relative and full of subjectivity that can be changed or different aspects either highlighted or downplayed as well.

1st off, stop believing the tripe put out at "investment seminars". Those people make their money through the suckers they can lure into seminars, not from the stock market. I spent almost 2 years of research before I invested real money in the market. I did this by creating, what I called, "Fantasy Portfolios". I studied the news and watched the markets on a weekly basis and recorded the results, making adjustments over time, until I felt I had a handle on reading the market reports.
