Can’t remember who it was but they did a video showing the durability of the Neo. They took it to about 200 foot elevation and switched off the motors. It crashed onto pavement with the only damage was a shifted motor that was easily shifted back into place to be flown again only a few minutes later. It’s surprisingly durable little machine

Great video! I have been a drone pilot for 10+ years and I have to buy new drones all the time because they are so cool, the Neo being no exception. I thoroughly enjoyed your video showing the breakdown process (good to know the inside). However, I've never crashed a drone as many times as this one and I purchased another one for that reason plus the Refresh on both also. This drone is not without pitfalls and like any other system its up to the pilot to learn all the nuances and quirks to minimize down time, inconvenience and embarrassment. In summary, I've never had a drone that packs so much tech in such a hardy little package at an unbelievable low price point. I cant wait to see what kind of follow up drone DJI makes after this one!

For someone with 0 drone-ing experience is the Neo something worth buying for image quality or just buy something like a Tello for a quarter of the price and learn to fly/crash before even considering this (even at its price)?

You can partially remove the mainboard and access the bottom of it without unplugging any wires or ribbons. My drone fell from 4m on a stone floor and a small piece from the on button was displaced. Making it unable to be pushed in. Was able to put it back in by accessing the bottom of the mainboard and now the drone is fully functional again.

Excellent video . Thank you very much for sharing this information to get to know the drone inside. I suffered several crashes and broke the propeller guard and a motor mount. Do you think it is possible to change all the electronics to another housing of the DJI NEO?
@dijax7863Ай бұрын
So I work for a European Company that is now coding replacement parts sold. The Main Board in the Unit will scan all parts installed for its serial number and know that the part was replaced. If it doesn't like the serial number it will shut itself down until the part is either changed with one with a correct serial number or someone with the correct software codes the part. It was originally purposed as a way to stop cloned fake parts being sold and installed into our Units.

@dijax78639 күн бұрын
@@MartinMichaelis That is a concern, but for warranty repair in the field its hard to say what 3rd party techs are doing to cut cost to increase profits. It is not uncommon for a very smart tech to "re-engineer"a product to get it working in order to get the job done under cost, make a larger margin for themself. The down side is not only did they void the warranty, the violated UL certifications, possibly left the customer with a product that is dangerous in the long term, and the next tech who goes out there is walking into a mine field with unknowns both safety hazards for them, the product and the customer. Then you have the Chinese clone operations making substandard electronic control processor boards, control power module boards, Control User Interface boards with fake OEM labeling. Why pay Tom's Repair $450 for the CPM when its on Amazon for $39.99 shipped 2 day... After you install it, your $4,000 Blah Blah Blah explodes, can't be repaired or is going to cost $2,000 to repair and it is no longer covered under warranty.. and its all the manufacturer's fault somehow. I have this conversation with Customers every other day... so it is not a rare thing. It is unbelievably common.

Just asking here, is there a way to install a second video sensor in a Neo? I want to install a small Thermal 320x320 IR thermal sensor and transmit this data to the RC.
@supergeek02468Ай бұрын
No clue how much payload the NEO can carry, but you’re probably better off buying a video transmitter for FPV drones and building a little self-contained sled with a battery and your desired camera. Then use a separate monitor for that feed. Something like a TBS unify nano and a little 300mah whoop battery will weigh like 11 grams.
@dijax7863Ай бұрын
@@supergeek02468 I was thinking of that myself. I like the neo due to its known robust nature and has a ready build supply chain for repair parts. I think if I can strip off some weight on both the IR sensor and make the entire payload weight dispersed under the Neo chassy, its range and speed would be limited but the job task would be limited to about 10 minutes at the most anyway.

I understand the glue for the perss conenctors, but for the soldered motor wires? Its completly unnecessary, even if the solder connection fails under the glue it just get worse, because the glue will hold the wire ina semi conencted state, and when high current draw occure it will melt everything.
@elephant1851Ай бұрын
to lessen stress on the solder during crashes
@izzydo3494Ай бұрын
It's there to help waterproof the connection and protect it from vibration/crash damage. From someone who built his own drones, all it takes a single blade of wet grass that can get onto the solder joints to your motors to mess up their power briefly. I used to use black plastic dip on my solder joints to act like a hydrophobic coating.

@@izzydo3494 that's an even better answer, especially since the Neo has air vents right next to those connections
