When you look at it all laid out, it looks a heck of a lot of food. Some great ideas there and plenty of tasty treats for your trip, cheers Alan

Yes, right you are! More than necessary, but only a 4 day trip so plenty of room in the blue barrel.

@@mehchocolate1257 I should work on a new video, we worked hard to get ourselves down to single portage so we've lightened our cookset and everything else to accomplish that. Thank you for watching!

Looks good! I haven't dehydrated anything my past couple trips, being lazy, think I'll dehydrate some stuff today! Thanks

Thanks for watching, hope the dehydrating goes well. It's nice to have a hot meal when it's cold and rainy out there.

Just starting to get my meals ready for our July1-10 canoe trip to Wabakimi Provincial Park. I use coconut butter for all cooking needs as it does not go bad and can melt and solidify with no issues. Have fun and cheers....Fred

Really? I never tried coconut butter. Do you find it in the same area of the store as regular butter?

Looks like y'all will be eating like kings. Very well thought out meal plan, thanks for sharing. We are just returning from our stoveless AT section hike -- needless to say this looks so much better than tuna or spam rollups! Hope you video the canoe trip.

There are definitely a few things that would have stayed home if we were backpacking rather than paddling and portaging :)

Thank you for watching and subscribing. Your canoe trip videos are super fun to watch, you've got a great knack for making them. I should find time to remake some video topics. We learn alot every trip. We've worked hard to get our 10 day BWCA trips down to a single portage which is a pretty good trick considering 2 of 3 of us are short females, not strong Sherpas LOL.

@@MamasBasecamp A pleasure. We certainly would turn to the land more and fresh stuff. But things have changed and we can't have billions of people just subsisting. Have a great week....

I use the loaded potatoes soup for clam chowder. 2 small cans with juice. Great on a chilly night by a campfire.

Thanks for the great ideas. We love the fleet farm nuts. Such great deals there. I live fairly close to Turtle Flowage. Tim and I are planning a trip there fairly soon. Any tips/ hints or advise?
@MamasBasecamp5 жыл бұрын
After the BWCA you will think the Flowage is a piece of cake, no getting worn out portaging. Some of the campsites are small. My tips are to consider the areas where motor boats cannot go if you want to watch wildlife quietly. Otherwise just be prepared that motor boats will com along now and again. Secondly, some of the latrines are in full view from the water so if you get a campsite like we had last summer you might want to have an extra tarp along in case you're shy like me LOL.

So I am going up to the boundary waters with a friend in a couple weeks for a week long trip. Where can you find dehydrated meats like ground beef?
@MamasBasecamp3 жыл бұрын
Hi Erik, I make it at home. I'm not sure if anyone sells it. My husband got me a dedydrator for Christmas one year. I just make lean ground beef, put it in a strainer and rinse all the fat out of it with water, and dehydrate. I store sealed in the freezer until the trip.

Erik sorry for jumping around like this with all these different responses, someone just mentioned Mountain House sells freeze dried ground beef. I have never tried it.

@@MamasBasecamp ok awesome, any other way to do it than with a dehydrator?
@MamasBasecamp3 жыл бұрын
@@erikstark3250 I've seen a few KZbinrs make videos about doing it in the oven on a really low temp but I've never tried it so I don't know if it works, and I've heard some people say it doesn't work very well. You might want to test out the freeze dried stuff from Mountain House and.see.if you like it.

You’re so prepared! Do you have any ideas for people who can’t eat meat?
@MamasBasecamp3 жыл бұрын
I dehydrate fruits, veggies, pastas, potato, and rice dishes. You can also buy freeze dried of all of these in the store. I make homemade granola bars from toasted oats, peanut butter, dates, almonds and honey. I also make homemade granola. These you can also buy in the store if you aren't up for cooking.
